Great video, thanks to you I just done my first paint skeem thankyou . I only learnt off your first video, now I'm going to try to do my second paint job based off part 2 video.
Thank you for checking out the video and the channel! I'm super glad that I was able to help you out with using GIMP. Any other questions you have be sure to send them my way and I'll do my best to help.
you have a knack for explaining things, I appreciate it. How would I then matte out and chrome out some colours on my existing paint scheme... I cant do it, no matter how many videos I watch.
So the spec maps can be very tricky. You have to use the magic wand tool ALOT and turn layers on and off ALOT. I have had difficulty myself with spec mapping because it's definitely a skill. There was a tutorial that was really good that I watched a while back I'll see if I can find it for you
Really helpful tutorials. Have created my first AMS2 liveries based on these videos - thanks! I need to better understand layers and mapping graphics across car parts, but I'm on my way.
A little fast but I learned and can rewatch what's the difference between alpha to slection or add alpha channel and what does the threshold have to do w things
Alpha to selection will select the alpha channel. Add alpha channel adds the alpha channel to the piece you select. Threshold is how sensitive the magic wand is when selecting things, for example, if you have a black box inside a white box, you select the black box and hit delete it will delete only the black box. Take the same situation, but add a darker grey around the black one, if the threshold is set at a given point it will not only select the black box but also the grey area as well because it's a color close to black.
Great tutorial again! Maybe you can do one more about patterns or colored lines across different car parts and how to connect them the easy way (if there is).
I could do that definitely! It might be a bit before I can have some time to do it have alot going on right now, but if this helps you paint a car completely black and turn the wire frame on. Export it with the wire frame and take a look at the car in the irqcing car viewer to familiarize yourself where the lines connect. It's easier to see the wire frame on the car and where they connect up.
On the left side when you sheer the number I believe there is a value that changes in the tool box. You'll just have to match the value. OR do both numbers next to eachother, merge the two layers and sheer them as one layer. Hope this helps and thank you for the feedback!
When he opened up all his downloaded images simultaneously and had them open on different windows it blew my mind, I've been doing it the hard way lollll
So when you made a line above the fanetec carbon logos, is there a way to make something with that tool that has smooth rounded edges? Like a curved flame
A good way to get a photo without a background, so you dont have to trace it like the wheel base, is to go to remove.bg and just to remove the back ground.
I'm painting the 19 Xfinity Camaro and the fuel filler logo is on the right side of the car when I export it and check it out in iRacing. Any idea why?
@@Thx4tryingTV Not that I am aware of. The nose of the car is to the right ant the deck lid is on the left. The right side of the car is on the bottom of the screen.
@@Thx4tryingTV I think I may have rotated it somehow. There is an outline around the window on the same side as the green circle for the gas. How did I manage to do that and how do I import it correctly or fix it? Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you so much for these videos, super easy to understand and follow along. I tried to take the “big picture” of gimp in and was quickly overwhelmed, but your videos made it so easy though!
Watched this to help me with designing print for a bag! I learned some useful tricks, but I still haven't found the answer I've been searching for... Can you help me? I'm looking for a way to make a layer mask or something that works like a "portal/window" to another part of the image - I'll try to explain what I mean: On my image I have a pattern that covers my whole template. But on the pocket that's supposed to be sewn to the front of the bag, the pattern doesn't line up with the front bag piece when assembled. That is because the pocket is in one corner of the template and the front is in another and I just put the pattern all over the template image. Now, I want to have the pocket area be sourced from the corresponding area on the front piece. Preferably "live" so I can move around or edit the pattern. If only there was a way to make the white are on the pocket layer mask be linked to the black are on the front piece layer mask! Am I making sense? Do you know of way I could accomplish this?
So I think I follow you, i think what you're going to want to do is create a layer group, now I dont do much with editing like youre trying to do, but I'm thinking you need to put them both in a layer group together and you may be able to move them together and edit them together. Let me play with it tonight and I'll respond again after I try a couple things.
@@Thx4tryingTV Okay, thank you for responding! The really tricky thing here is probably the fact that the area that I want to "copy" from another, is not on the same place in the picture, one is in the lower left corner and the other in the upper left. I really appreciate it if you tell me any ideas you get :)
So that's what they call a "spec map" unfortunately I don't cover this in my tutorials BUT if you search Classicfuel and watch his tutorial on spec maps you will find exactly what you needs. It's how I learned to do them, he's got a great video on it.
Ok so I'm curious if somebody could help me out. I know how to change the Goodyear colors, but what about the other decals? The SRX just released so I'm trying to dip my toes into painting. The logos are white and are not apart of the Color Change Logos layer so I have no way of adding to alpha layer. How can I change these white logos to say a purple or yellow? Thanks for all of your videos, I've been watching and working on paints all day.
I haven't worked with the SRX cars yet, but you will find that some logos are not allowed to be changed or altered due to licensing agreements. This could be a case of that. If you turn off the "car mandatory" layer and the logos dissappear this is more than likely the case.
I noticed in both video`s that you don`t use bucket fill, this could save a few seconds but is there a reason you don`t use it?....Great video by the way. The only problem i have with most videos is people go to fast, when you have no idea what your doing it frustrating trying to keep up. I know it`s a video and you can pause, rewind etc but it`s just a thing that bugged me and stopped me from watching a lot of video`s.
Yeah so bucket fill, I don't know why I don't use it more often probably just a habit from using the paint brush all the time and I enjoy using the brush better because sometimes I'll be painting and want to try to draw something real quick with the brush. And yeah I've received feedback that i went too fast on this second tutorial and I apologize for that.
In the first video you mentioned how you don`t name the new layers and use the move tool to find it. Did you learn something from then to this video?....no biggie just thought it was funny cause when you said that in the first video i said what you said in this one...lol
If there's anything specific you want more in depth I'm happy to make a video about it. I've been creating a list for the next video covering only the things people struggled with or needed. Let me know what you want covered more in depth or slowly and I will cover it in my next one. I'm sorry that you feel I went too fast and will work on that in future videos. Thank you for checking it out, and checking out my channel!

Thanks for your tutorial!! I couldn't figure out gimp until I watched ur videos! So much easier now! Thanks again!!

Learned a few things again! And nice to see how to use carbon aswell. Thx again
Thank you for these videos man, just finished my first scheme for my Camping World truck

Lol sorry it took so long to come out.
Thank you very much for this. Amazing tutorial. I’ll try painting for the first time now...let’s see how it goes
Thank you for the feedback! I'm really glad you enjoyed the tutorial and if your painting and have any questions let me know!
Great Tutorial!!!! Thank you!!

Really helpful tutorials. Have created my first AMS2 liveries based on these videos - thanks! I need to better understand layers and mapping graphics across car parts, but I'm on my way.
Thank you for the tutorial. Do you have any tips for saving or exporting settings that would help smooth out some of the jagged edges?

Super helpful. How do I get that same effect with a double digit number? The steps work, but only for one of the digits.
On the left side when you sheer the number I believe there is a value that changes in the tool box. You'll just have to match the value. OR do both numbers next to eachother, merge the two layers and sheer them as one layer. Hope this helps and thank you for the feedback!
WHERE DID YOU GET THE NUMBER SET
Thx for putting this out I'm gonna watch it but I'm sure it's a good one
When he opened up all his downloaded images simultaneously and had them open on different windows it blew my mind, I've been doing it the hard way lollll
When ur cutting something out I think if u double click u can hit backspace and it goes back I'm not 100 percent sure but try that maybe next time

Are you rotating the scheme at all? You need to make sure that the scheme is facing the default direction when exporting.

How do i size the number logo
I'm struggling to get my scheme into iracing, I've saved it as .tga and loaded into trading paints but that's as far as I can get with it..
Make sure that you are uploading the paint in the correct spot. There's the sim stamped number one and that is the custom number.
