    @quangtran my mom is from Pampanga in the philippines and Pampanga is the culinary city of the philippines known for the best food! My mom always put coconut milk in her kare kare and I do the same! It makes a big difference and more delish!

  • @sarahjanelara8046
    @sarahjanelara8046 22 дня назад +2

    Yummmm! One of my favorite comfort dishes growing up! I'm Filipino and have to say, yes, you did it pretty good. Yeah, coconut milk is not really used but I know it's gonna be tasty. Some people add ground rice to make it thicker. I like that you added the bagoong (shrimp paste) while cooking (since people usually add it on the side). And it's typically made with oxtail and tripe but often times just beef is good as oxtail can get expensive.

  • @hirolla74
    @hirolla74 23 дня назад +1

    My favorite Filipino dish. There are kare kare sauce packets that have the peanut flavor on it. Instead of beef I like to use beef tripe (super cleaned of course) cooked in a pressure cooker first. But your recipe looks good and authentic. Good job.

  • @georgpryor5976
    @georgpryor5976 26 дней назад +1

    Oxtails are the best! Makes the sauce thicker.

  • @Exaris79
    @Exaris79 26 дней назад +1

    Usually there's beef tripe too. Restaurants use oxtail and beef shanks for the extra meat. For holiday potluck dinner, I make Mikado Dragon Eyes and beef/veggie kare kare maki rolls. For the kare kare maki rolls, i use the left over stew broth and vegetables strips with strips of beef and shrimp paste. Make sure to warn ppl of peanut and shrimp allergies.

  • @HWImw

    If you wanna level up your cooking,
    try roasting your own peanuts before blending them. Cook 'em for about 20 minutes before adding the coconut milk. Blanch the veggies before tossing 'em in at the end. Overall, great job making this simple recipe accessible to Filipino folks out there!

    My Filipino heart is drooling over that Kare Kare Quang! 💖
    nextime try adding fresh ground peanuts, you can make the sauce thicker and seperate the veggies, just blanch it in water. ( for a much nicer presentation) You can also add some sliced chilis on your Shrimp paste seperated in a bowl 😊
    This is how we serve it here in Filipino gatherings & special occasions 💛
    but your version is Amazing!
    will be waiting for your Karekare fried Liempo style & your version of Sinigang!

    Aussie here. I grew up eating Kraft peanut butter. It was an Australian brand, but bought out by a foreign company (the US I believe). Sadly, I no longer buy it because they now use peanuts that are imported (mostly from China I think). It's a shame, because the taste and texture is perfect. I prefer to support the local economy these days, and buy the brand that uses Australian peanuts.

    100% Filipino here I dont know were that recipe came from but We do not put coconut milk on a "Kare-Kare" should have put "unsweetened peanut butter instead". The Real Kare Kare is all about innards tripe, pig intestine, add oxtail, the fatty part of the pork leg. DIY peanut sauce and baggoong shrimp paste with chunks of pork belly no sugar on the shrimp paste please. Instead of beef on your recipe try "crispy fried pork belly" instead create Your kare kare w/o the coco milk replace it with unsweetened peanut butter. Make the crispy fried pork belly as a chunky meat topping with DIY Shrimp paste Yummy!👍👍👍
