Badshahi Masjid one of the most beautiful mosques and architectures of the world was converted into a stable under Ranjit Singh. And emeralds from the sheesh mahal robbed. Muslims were 2nd class citizens eventhough they were the elite and most educated at the "advent" of the Sikh Empire. Similarly Hindus refused education and equal rights to Muslims for 2 decades and segregated them making them a less prosperous and less educated community in India. Under Mughal era universities in India were the most advanced in the world. Under Mughal India historians describe it as The Golden Age of India. What proceeded was European Imperialism and subjugation. The British re-wrote history and changed the historic context and sadly the old world continues to suffer from this as much as I love Great Britain, I can not deny that it is responsible for the misery and conflicts that continue in its former colonies. Much of it is has to do with a white wash of history.

Zakat is a religious obligation for Muslims. It is not an obligation for non Muslims. Therefore they are not required to pay it. They do however need to contribute to society so that they may benefit from it. Such as protection etc. Therefore they must pay a tax as well. That tax being called Jizya. There's nothing sinister about it and it's really not that complicated.

It seems the term jizya is problematic with Raj. apparently we all pay the same tax rate here in the UK and those who can't work are treated the same as those who can, hence we don't pay any social benefits to them. Jizya is a fair tax for the minority to be protected and then not having to serve in military. it just happens if your are a Muslim you have to pay 2.5 percent of your wealth as a tax to the poor and if you are non Muslim in the minority you are paying a about £100 per year which doesn't go to the poor but just your own contribution towards the military. if you serve the military, you don't pay jizya. these are agreed terms between those who are on power (Muslim majority) and those who don't have power (non-Muslim minority) provided the Muslim government fully adhere to Islamic principles and ethics. Now. The rich in this county pay a high level of tax compared to low level earners or non earners who might be working in the same compny. or two individuals may have exactly the same pay from the same job at the same company but their family circumstance is different. one may be single and the other married with few children. The UK pays back some of the later persons tax back as they require it. This is not so the UK wants to create a "them and us" mentality but the burden of economic weight put more on those who can shoulder the load compared to someone who can't. lastly. Jizyah is a Jizyah it's not a tax, our Muslim brother need to explain this subject very well to the other person, let's say there is a Muslim country role by shariah law will have a war with a Sikhi country, now the benefits of paying Jizyah that the Sikhi citizens in that Muslim country they don't have to fight the people of their religion by paying the Jizyah, and that's will be the same with the Christian and the Jews

Under Mughal era universities in India were the most advanced in the world. Under Mughal India historians describe it as The Golden Age of India. What proceeded was European Imperialism and subjugation. The British re-wrote history and changed the historic context and sadly the old world continues to suffer from this as much as I love Great Britain, I can not deny that it is responsible for the misery and conflicts that continue in its former colonies. Much of it is has to do with a white wash of history.

Zakat is a religious obligation for Muslims. It is not an obligation for non Muslims. Therefore they are not required to pay it. They do however need to contribute to society so that they may benefit from it. Such as protection etc. Therefore they must pay a tax as well. That tax being called Jizya.

It seems the term jizya is problematic with Raj. If it is described as simple tax that too at comparatively lesser rate for non-muslims under sharia I think hopefully he will be satisfied..everyone is taxed under the law, whether muslims or non-muslims, though under different names, being non-muslims means paying less tax without the obligation to serve in the military is a privilege under the sharia, not an oppression..!!

Jizya is a fair tax for the minority to be protected and then not having to serve in military.
it just happens if your are a Muslim you have to pay 2.5 percent of your wealth as a tax to the poor and if you are non Muslim in the minority you are paying a about £100 per year which doesn't go to the poor but just your own contribution towards the military.
if you serve the military, you don't pay jizya. these are agreed terms between those who are on power (Muslim majority) and those who don't have power (non-Muslim minority) provided the Muslim government fully adhere to Islamic principles and ethics.

The rich in this county pay a high level of tax compared to low level earners or non earners who might be working in the same compny.
or two individuals may have exactly the same pay from the same job at the same company but their family circumstance is different. one may be single and the other married with few children. The UK pays back some of the later persons tax back as they require it.
This is not so the UK wants to create a "them and us" mentality but the burden of economic weight put more on those who can shoulder the load compared to someone who can't.

Salam everyone, correct me if l m wrong regarding jiziyah. Only non muslim men of military age need to pay jiziyah. In lieu they are exempted from serving in the army. Non muslim children, women and old men need not pay. Muslims need to pay income taxes. Non muslims need not pay.

Jizyah is a Jizyah it's not a tax, our Muslim brother need to explain this subject very well to the other person, let's say there is a Muslim country role by shariah law will have a war with a Sikhi country, now the benefits of paying Jizyah that the Sikhi citizens in that Muslim country they don't have to fight the people of their religion by paying the Jizyah, and that's will be the same with the Christian and the Jews
