Thank you so much for your reaction, we knew you would love (G)I-DLE! They are a group like no other. For only being four years old, they have a big discography. Some of their B-sides could be title tracks, they are that good. They are extremely versatile, many of their B-sides are ballads and if you like lyrics, their B-sides are very deep and the melodies are truly addicting. There are still many title tracks/ music videos you haven't seen yet, "LATATA" (their debut song), "HANN (ALONE)" (Soyeon wrote (1) Hann (Alone), (2) "Hann (Alone In Winter)" and (3) "HWAA" as a trilogy (yes, Soyeon is such a good writer that she even writes trilogies and connects songs together with each other), "UH-OH", "SENORITA", "DUMDI DUMDI" (a fantastic summer song), and many others. The members also like to write songs about each other. When you dive in and learn about them, they are completely on another level. The girls are best of friends and they are as close as sisters, which is why their chemistry is so outstanding. Thank you for another great reaction!

G-IDLE is definitely one of my favorite K-pop girl groups, so talented and underrated!
They would say neither man nor woman, right?!🤩
"Lion" was a song that they made for "Queendom" (2019). The stage show that they performed for the song on that show is amazing. They were rookies of the year in 2018 and invited to compete in the "Queendom" show. "Lion" was later released as a B-side on the "i trust" album which also contained "oh my god" as the title track.
The only bad things about (G)-idle:
Shuhua had too little lines
Soojin was forced to leave the group
Their songs finish
My favorite "Guide" for (G)I-DLE is "The rise of (G)I-DLE" - cubes secret weapon. It's 90 minutes and contains individual members backgrounds as well as history of the group until about 2020. It's in English. Contains portions of songs that you haven't heard yet.
I definitely recommend you to react to their guide. And I can already tell you right about a lot of things, they're a self produced group, they write all their lyrics, come up with concepts, art direction and even coreography. So even if they are great actresses and capable of adapting to their current concept, they are definitely very strong and independent young women with a lot of personality.
PS.: another girl group that you'll never gonna regret reacting is Mamamoo. In my opinion, g-idle carry to the 4th gen the same rebel like spirit Mamamoo brought to the 3rd gen.
You know what’s crazy ? I’m a big neverland I adore these women. I’ve known them since HANN and gosh. Everytime I watch video of marathon from them im always SHOOKT. It feels like I’m watching these videos for the first time although I’ve seen them for thousands time and listening to their song everyday. So yes g-idle carry the 4th Gen. The news about Soojin shocked us all. Someone made bully accusations against her, which were proven false and her company didn't protect her. Instead their kicked her out. Cube (the company) is known for kicking their Idols out of groups or ending the contract because of controversy, instead of protecting them. :(

I love seeing ppl discovering Gidle. I'm a boygroups stan too, and Gidle is my only favorite gg bcos they are a self-composed idol group and they are different from other ggs. If you want to have more great experience with Gidle, check out their live performances. They are truly performers. The most recent is Melon Music Award 2022 performance. It's mindblowing and crazyyy. They don't just do common performances.

Honestly, I don't even listen to Kpop even when they are so popular here. IDLE is the first and only group I stan because of their art and concept and stories with each song. React to their guide, b-sides, series, etc... they are so fun and no filter, even the show hosts were sometimes surprised.
You are indeed correct, PERSONALITY is the core of their group, I mean they literally have personality introduction when they debuted:
SOYEON (rapper) - CHARISMA
MIYEON (girl with car explosion in TOMBOY) - INNOCENCE
MINNIE (red hair in HWAA) - DREAMY
SOOJIN (tattoos and scars in LION) - SEXY
YUQI (deep voice) - CUTE
SHUHUA (biting the flower in HWAA) - CHIC
Though these may not their personalities off camera, but they really radiate these on stage and even someone who does not know them can tell. SOYEON, as their leader, played a role with this. She told them to not blindly follow their vocal coaches since they will only sound the same within the group and with other girl groups. She also know that from the beginning, her members have beautiful and unique voices and she don't wanna lose that (given that 3 of the members are foreigners).
This is the meaning behind their name I-DLE. The name and logo used the lowercase English "i" meaning "me, myself, and I", followed by the Korean characters for "DEUL" (tilted to the side) to make it plural. Thus stating "Six different people, with six different personalities, gathered together as one.". They're like the infinity stones, each with own power yet becomes more powerful together.

HWAA - for you to understand the story, Soyeon explained that you should listen first from HANN(Alone) >> HANN (Alone in Winter) >> HWAA. This is actually a trilogy song/story Soyeon created with SHUHUA (biting the flower) as the protagonist. This have english and chinese versions as well (no MVs)
TOMBOY - After a long hiatus due to the member incident, they came back angry and ever more rebellious. TOMBOY isn't about the gender in this song, but their attitude. In one interview, Soyeon was asked why was she producing and writing songs as a girl group when those are men's role. She said "Why does that matter?". So here she's stating that if you are going to prevent her from doing a song just coz it's a man's job, then yeah, "I'll be the tomboy". And this goes to ANY gender roles that creates that rift between.
OH MY GOD - definitely their cinematic song with mostly visuals and less choreo. This have a wide meaning when SOYEON created it, and she wants people to ask "What does she meant by this?". It can go with toxic love, addiction, biblical, and lgbt love. Especially that "SHE/HER" in the lyrics (English lyrics are more to the point tho), but Soyeon explained that the "she" can be anything that gives us temptation. She also said that "Music should not be bound by gender because music is for everyone". (which connects to the message of TOMBOY as well).
LION - this is actually a special release from them, not an MV or digital track or title track. It was created for their performance in a girl group competition, QUEENDOM (check this out). Soyeon wanted to watch the new Lion King but too busy, so she made a song with the lion theme in mind. She said that even though they are lions, the can still be queens. For me, this is the start of them openly breaking the walls and prejudice of the industry and society, thus the rap part. Ever since, they barely cover their tattoos and even talk about them on shows and lives.

Speaking of other staff: latata, hann and Dumdi dumdi are good songs, but more commercial, so I think you won't be really impressed.

I've never been big on girlgoups, from tie to time I love some songs but (g)-idle, Mamamoo and Dreamcatcher are the only girlgroups where I love almost all of their songs.

Some things to know before going deep into (G)I-DLE
Soyeon created Latata because CUBE Entertainment couldn't give them a suitable debut song, she was 19 yo at that time (almost 20) but it was just the starting of our journey !
She then created and (co)produced almost every single song and every song used as a main song (Title Track) are Soyeon's creation.
As for today, counting the last comeback (I Never Die), there is only one song where Soyeon didn't took part in any kind of way and it's Polaroid created and (co)produced by Yuqi.
Soyeon is always involved at least in the lyrics because she can't rap a line/verse that she didn't herself wrote:
- Because she think rappers should write their stuff,
- And also because she want to express her feeling through her writing.
All of (G)I-DLE members have somehow unique voices, Soyeon wasn't ok with the other members' voice coaches because they wanted them to be generic for the K-POP industry (if I understood correctly), but she thought that their atypical voices would be the group' strength.
Nowadays we have a producer line, Soyeon (ofc), Minnie and then Yuqi.
Minnie always had the idea to produce song as well, so she come out with "Blow your mind", which is a b-side from "I Made" their 2nd Mini album, she created it alongside with Soyeon, she then created other songs (Moon,Dahlia etc...).
Yuqi then join in the producer line too, with the co-created/produced (alongside Minnie) song "I'm the Trend" which is seen as Nevies anthem. Neverland being the fandom name of (G)I-DLE.
We now have 3 capable producer, that can make fire in the future and we saw it threw the album "I Never Die" or before that the album "I Burn"
With "I Never Die"'s comeback Miyeon voiced her growing desire to write and produce songs too, so maybe in the future we will have a Miyeon production too !
Soyeon released her first solo album on July 5th, 2021 which is named "Windy", the album show a different side of her. A more bubbly and bright person that she aspire to be more.
"Beam Beam" being the title track, is bright have some rock aspect that really match the summer.
She also have a collaboration with BIBI and Lee Youngji which are korean rappers, one the song "Is this bad b***** number" which I really recommend listening to.
Yuqi did her solo debut in 2021 with "Giant" and "Bonnie and Clyde", she also used to be in "Learn Way: Season 1" also known as "Learn Wave" during 2020.
Her solo debut show how deep and attractful her voice is, I highly recommend listening to it.
She writed and produced "Giant".
Minnie started her actress career with "So not worth it" in 2021 as well, which is a Netflix' serie.
She also had a lot of model shooting during this year.
She was feated in a Thai' song "Money Honey" alongside F.HERO and URBOYTJ.
Miyeon released her first solo album "MY" on April 27th, 2022. It was a long awaited album from many fans and showcase how beautiful her vocal really is. It is a soothing and appeasing album.
The album have "Drive" as it's title track which is a really ray of sunshine, the album on it's own is a very healing time to listen to.
She wrote her first song in her solo debut's mini album "MY", with the song "Rain" which was produced by Yuqi as a gift to her.
Unfortunately Soojin got caught in a bully scandal, which became viral because she got accused by an actress, which lead her to not being active from February 2021 to August 2021, then leaving (G)I-DLE but staying under Cube Entertainment from "August 2021"
After bringing the police to the table and juridic case, it was difficult to prove whether the opposite side lied or not or whether Soojin was a bully or not since the event occurred 10-12 years ago... Which lead Soojin leaving Cube Entertainment at the beginning of March 2022.
(I will not take position on this, I'm only LARGELY summarising)
"Hwaa" was released January 11 2021 and since that date we didn't had group's comeback for 1 year and 2 months (I don't count "Last dance" since it's a promotional song for "Universe") and every member took a break and focused more on solo stuff. Foreigner line (Minnie, Yuqi and Shuhua) going back in their countries.
I will not come across everything they had done during 2021/early 2022 but it's mind blowing.
Until now 2022 was a really booked year for them, wanting to compensate for the lost time they worked really hard this year.
They release their first full album with "I Never Die" in March 14th, then got booked with a lot of variety shows, brand apparition, cooperation with other artists in those two matter as well.
Then they booked their first ever World Tour, which started the 18th of June in Seoul and finished October 1st in Singapore.
With all the hard work done during this year we couldn't hope for more, but then they released their newest comeback: "I Love".
With this comeback they shut every people thinking they were a "One Hit Wonder", they bagged PAKs once again, they also multiply their sales by almost 5.
They are the first group after Twice (2016) to bag PAK with two songs in the same year and one of the 5 K-Pop act to do so, they are also the Girl Group with most PAK in history to this day and they did it with their own color and message.
Which once again show the dedication they have for their musics.
Fellow Nevies just remember that opening fan war isn't necessarily, (G)I-DLE was always seen as black horse but in the end they always come up with good stuff.
We know what they are made of, and we just need to put our hands and mind to support them, our Queens !

Also to be fair, Tomboy is the exact opposite of a commercial song:
First rock gender is pretty infamous in Korea.
And the most important point, when Tomboy was released Korean people just elected a misogynistic president, and they came our with a song preaching that woman can be whatever they wand and aren't supposed to stick to what society expect of them. When talking about "Tomboy" they aren't refering to a look, they are refering to women (and also them) willing to just be themselves even if they are not being into the mold. "Me loving Tomboy" at the end, is just them saying "I love my self, for who I am and not who you want me to be".

gidle are the best 4th gen gg, three of their members are producers for the group with Soyeon their leader being the full producer for them and just recently won the best producer award🤩 you should really check out a guide these girls are so so talented and such goofballs

(G)I-dle was the first Kpop group I became a fan of back in 2020. The first song I heard of them was "Uh-Oh" but I stanned when I heard "Oh My God". Watching your reactions reminded me of myself discovering the girls during lockdown (technically I wasn't locked down since I had work, but I was stressed AF). I'm so happy to see you go through their discography, and even though I've been a fan for 2 years now, I still get chills from their songs.
Looking at the groups that catch your vibe (BTS, SKZ and now (G)I-dle), it seems that you're more inclined to self-producing groups. I tend to favor those groups too because the connection is just different, even though I also listen to groups that don't self-produce. I highly recommend another self-produced group named Seventeen for a lighter and fun vibe. Ateez is also known for vocally amazing, anthemic songs and I consider them the 3rd member of my own "early 4th gen self-producing holy trinity" with SKZ and (G)I-dle (all three debuted in 2018). For girl groups, Mamamoo hits the whole "I'm badass and I don't care" vibe you absolutely love. They're less cutesy and have a mature woman image and I love them for that.
Anyways, I can't wait for you to get to know the girls more. I am especially excited for the live stages...(G)I-dle is insanely amazing at that. My favorite of all time is the Queendom Put It Straight Nightmare Version.
One last thing, it's 100% okay not to like a couple of songs. I'll admit, I don't like "Hwaa" either along with other songs, but it doesn't make me love the girls less. Cheers!
Btw soyeon (the rapper) writes all of the lyrics for these songs and for hwaa(she didn’t say this jsut my interpritation) she compares being in a painful breakup to a cold winter and wants a “fire”(hwaa means flame btw) to bring “spring” which is the hapiness and recovery.
Yo check out the "Lion" performance for Queendom, they wrote it when they participated. It is exceptional. Sooyeon's rap hits even harder.
Cool. Not surprised that you liked these videos. They really catched my attention as I don’t have many kpop groups as favorite. I cant get over G-idles songs for a long time, putting them on repeat. Also their album songs are good, especially Dark and Haam alone in winter. Other girl groups that caught my attention are Mamamo and Dreamcatcher as their songs and videos are also kind different from other groups that I’ve heard.

G-IDLE is honestly the only girl group I really follow and anticipate every comeback. Like you said, they bring something else to the table ! The are all incredibly talented and you should definitely react to a guild because I’m sure you’ll like them as a person ! They are not “bad bitches” like you seem to expect but they are so funny and genuine 😊 basically not the I’m-trying-to-be-cute-all-the-time-uwu type ahah
(G)-idle are actually crack heads off stage and are hilarious as heck.. but they turn on their badass selves like a switch when they are on stage/singing.

Totally understand the reasons for not stanning girl groups with forced concepts, and the reason why you like (G)Idle, is because you can FEEL their music and their own identities and thoughts in their music. The thing is, as you probably already know by now, is that they truly have all the creative freedom that most other girl groups don't have. They, mainly the leader and rapper Soyeon, write their own songs and Soyeon is even their producer herself, and also teaches Minnie and Yuqi to produce. They are truly a self made group, and Soyeon knows her value, so she basically fights for how she and the members want things to go and gets most concepts through with the company.

Hey I am SO sorry I am VERY late to the party- 6 months to be exact to be Honest I've just been very busy and last month I graduated so yeah, but I am here now to binge watch all of your videos (I've been meaning to because you seem like such a sweetheart and I really can't wait to see your reactions to Girl Groups especially and to see what they bring to the table because man are they talented)! Dude all of these songs were AMAZING and so Iconic to be Honest my favorite song from them is Oh My God because holy cow it's just PHENOMENAL (and you may or may not have noticed but it's also a Lesbian anthem), Lion is just ICONIC you should see some live stages because man it's one of their best songs and one of Soyeon's best Raps, HWAA a lot of people don't really like it and I don't know why it's so good and it's Soojin's last comeback (CUBE I still really dislike you for that, HATRED- and they have turned down multiple amazing artists as well like Wendy from Red Velvet they legit turned down one of the best K - Pop Vocalists maybe even the best), and Tomboy was AMAZING and I was speechless I was not expecting that from them AT ALL but I LOVED it! Also at 13:20 same girl- anyways I can't wait for you to check out more (G) I-DLE such as more Music Videos, B - Sides, Live Performances, Covers, Dance Practices, Moments, and of course Ships! They are all self produced, and while Soyeon produces and writes all the title tracks, the members Minnie and Yuqi both write bsides for the albums. i BURN, I NEVER DIE and I LOVE (their most recent) are all incredible albums which I'm sure you would love :)
Gidle reach the level of BTS because both wrote their own lyrics of the song, so that's why the lyric related to most of us. For me, in Kpop I really like Bts n Gidle, both are my ult because of their song message. Not all GG able to wrote a song that masterpiece like what Gidle did, it's a rare thing to find in Kpop GG

Hi! I just found your videos and I've been enjoying them! As a girl group fan, I'm really glad you enjoy (G)I-DLE. I don't really know what you like yet, but if you want something more unique (like idle) I recommend Dreamcatcher. They're more like the dark angels of kpop cuz they have a rock vibe and most of their videos have a horror ish concept (the old ones especially). Sometimes their music sounds like an anime opening theme haha. They are really good and their personalities are amazing too (such sweet girls and chaotic af). If you would like to check them out, I'm not sure what to recommend first, but "Deja-vu" it's a fan favorite and I think it's the best introduction since it's not in the story line (yes, they have a really complicated story line. they're nightmares!! each girl has a nightmare assigned to them).

But actually the most metal song in kpop imo is PinkFantasy's Poison.
Other horror themed kpop tracks I'd recommend are Cross Gene's Black or White and History's Psycho *which is more of a thriller.

It's true that (G)I-DLE is like BTS because they produce their own songs. They have freedom and can do what they want, any concepts they want. Soyeon, the leader, has a very creative mind and is the one responsible for the most part and also the title tracks. With the help of Minnie and Yuqi on the Bside Tracks they are able to create masterpieces!
Some girl groups follow a story line such as loona and aespa. Some have a concept such as le sserafim and ive. Some are groups that will disband in 2.5 years such as IZ*ONE and kep1er. Me personally I like girl groups more than boygroups because they are more entertaining to watch in interviews and stuff such as dreamcatcher and mamamoo. But ig if you like boy groups more because they not sexualized as much as the girl groups then that's cool. Not to bombard you with all the names I just dropped...lol sorry.
I have to dig in girl groups more for sure!! But to my I just relate to boys groups more, I actually feel they’re more natural and less controlled, I also feel like their lyrics often reach me more than girl groups! (I listen to music mostly for lyrics)

K-pop girl groups often have the reputation of only doing "I love you lalala" cutesy songs, but it cannot be further from the truth. Of course, there are such groups. There are also groups who are basically "inventory" of their companies, singing on cue whatever they are given, without any power to affect it. But let me show you around a bit :D
Dreamcatcher's early title tracks were a horror story, where they are cursed to be nightmares, and they are looking to find themselves. On another level, at the same time, they tell the story of how they started in failure, persevered, and found success through love between each other and their loyal fans. Their second storyline was about the internet toxicity and trolls. In their current storyline they call for preservation of the environment. The B-sides (non-title-tracks) are a bit different in mood, but if Dreamcatcher is making a love song, it will either be love for fans, or if it is a romantic love song, it will be creepy. As a group, they don't do cute. All their songs are quite poetic (though maybe not to the level of Soyeon's). Their company is (now) one of the best companies around, they are all basically like a family, and the girls have tons of input in what they are doing.
Le Sserafim, who just debuted this year, have a similar motif: perseverance through adversity. "Even if I fall, it's okay" and "I'm beautiful with my scratches" are some of the notable lyrics. They also point out how they are just normal people, not to be put on pedestal. The Great Mermaid talks about how they are not Little Mermaid: they will never trade their voice for love. Message 100%, and many of their songs are based on the members' own experiences and input.
Aespa's title track lyrics so far are about a metaverse where they are fighting a virus feeding on negative emotions on social media. It is almost like watching a Marvel movie. It is not immediately obvious what the message is, but there is a message, though one needs to immerse oneself in their universe. Possibly the most "controlled" group on the list, but their songs are so different that they deserve a listen (and a watch!). They will probably be incomprehensible if you don't also watch the SMCU lore videos, but still cool.
Mamamoo are crazy. They don't have a concept, they just do whatever they want. And they are amazing. They have normal songs, similar to other groups, but also: "1cm Pride (Taller Than You)" is a song their boss made when he overheard them bickering about who is taller, even though they are all within 1cm of each other; "Waggy" is a cute song about kittens and puppies; "Recipe" MV is them competing in two teams to make the best kimchi fried rice, and singing about it. Individual members all have solo discography, and some of it is wild: for example, Solar has a song called "Big Booty" because she always wanted one and wrote the song out of jealousy (And trust me, these are grown women. They are not being sexualised. No-one tells them what to do; if they do it, it's because they wanted to do it.)

Itzy also has a great discography of self empowerment songs although their music changes quit a bit it doen't change the fact that they still have it and as you said their are groups such as mamamoo and dreamcatcher that have a say in what they do.
