Hold ALT before using the knife tool to cut in a straight line - or SHIFT ALT for horizontal or vertical or 45 degree straight cuts

OK nice work and excellently explained. What if I have two identical squares (shapes) that share a border, i.e. where two line segments are in exactly the same position. Is there a method where the two line segments become one? (delete one) I need this for not cutting double path on my vinyl cutter.

which tool you are looking for? navigate to help section. another thing is every tool has some hidden tool underneath, if you click and hold, you will see the other ones that hidden under that tool menu and make sure you have the latest version of illustrator , not using a very old one,

I watched endless videos and what nobody explains is that how you cut an abstract imagine you already designed into 2 equal parts. Everyone is showing perfect circles and squares that have obvious center points.
