Just saw Anna's videos of you and her playing her mother. Would be awesome to see a breakdown of Pia's moves during those games. As well as your insight on the tension of playing a GM, something many of us will never experience.
There are his old video recaps of his own tournaments and many times he described how it feels to play against a GM. Telling you in case you are not aware.
It would be interesting to see you play your subscribers and try to guess their Elo based on their moves. Might give you a good reason not to just crush them and go for the checkmate, so you get more data for the guess.
But wait, gotta find a way to play them without seeing the rating hmmm (nvm they could just be playing as a guest and accept a game via invite link or something
Arguably the craziest set of games ever in a ETE episode, and somehow the best part of the vid was when Levy started doing the voice impressions in Game 4. Truly an all-timer episode. Edit: What have I done?
I dont know how many times i replayed it yesterday while crying with laughter but i came back today to have my dose again. That "Goffam" with this voice always gets me it's legendary
With the video out for 2 minutes I've already watched the whole thing and I gotta say this is a classic GothamChess W. I love the part when he said "e4" truly inspiring
Man, no one pays respect to just how eloquent and fluent Gotham is. I could listen to you all day just for the sake of listening. Truly a masterclass speaker
I really don't understand how such a talented chess player can be such a talented entertainer. It's insane to me. Like think about it, have you ever seen a professional soccer player double up as a comedian? I'm so glad to be able to watch Levy do his thing. Guess the Elo is legendary and will never get boring. Keep it up Gotham! 💪🏻
@@freddiesimmons1394 especially boxers and MMA fighters. in other sports, your skill is what sells pay-per-views, but in MMA and boxing its partially your wordcraft.
Idea for a video: you get two teams of a 2000, 1600, 1200, 800 and 400. The 2000s play the first 5 moves then hand over to the 1600s for 5 moves etc. See if the lower rated players can convert the advantage their teammates built up or if they just blunder mate in two.
@@thesecondderivative8967 agreed. If the higher rated players started first, the first 2 players on each team would just be playing theory or something near to it.
I think it’d be better if one team starts with a higher rated then goes lower and the other team starts lower and goes higher if how they can convert matters
@@thesecondderivative8967 Not really, because once it gets to the 1600 rated players+ it'll probably be incredibly lop-sided and one team will win easily. Probably have to be 400, 2000, 800, 1600, 1200 or along those lines. AS Ymasters pointed out, if the 2000's started it'd just be theory, and pretty boring.
I started DYING when levy went full Allen Iverson at 26:33 😭😭 idk if enough people noticed that. "Time controls??? you talking about time controls? not a GAME, but time controls???"
@@splashmoney2337game three was mine. I'd been sitting on it since November just waiting for a chance to submit it, knowing he had no chance of even coming close. I got nervous when he said 1700 early on.
As an 850, the first game makes complete sense. You get games where it says you are 1200ish often whenever you win one sided because it’s around that level when you start getting the basics and if the opponent makes it easy for you by trading or voluntarily doubling pawns you can make great moves but they are just obvious and it’s the more complex positions where we aren’t comfortable where we blunder the hell out of everything
I didn’t comment anything about game 3 back when this came out but now that I reach 1800, yes, we hung queens a lot more than you think Gotham. Especially in King’s Gambit. Every games my opponent decides to play King’s Gambit, each of us would hang at least a minor piece and the game would be decided by ‘who sees the tactic to win the hanging piece first’.
30:07 to 31:10 XD just amazing XD the voice acting XDD on point XDD i did not know Gotham could do those - will refer to a 2200-2300+ by his channel name, i do not feel high enough with elo to refer to a master by their first name -
Idea : Guess the elo but you can only watch the game for 15 to 20 seconds (you can go through the match as fast as possible to check out all key moves) and then guess the elo!
What long standing higher level players might not get is that if you are a beginner like me, playing 1 year now, getting out of the 600's can be brutal as people have zero idea what they are doing and try the most random and sometimes amazing things. People in the 700's are more predictable. People in the 800's and 900's where I'm at now mostly do the same 3 or 4 openings all the time, so you have an idea where to go. But 600-715 players, OMG, they can sometimes be the most difficult out of pure random but intelligent play.
I'm loving Gotham vs ChessCom rating guessing! I don't know if you use it or not. But Twitch has a polling system. Could maybe use that for chat to put in ranges for people to vote on and could show also in the vod?
*Levy mentions MapleStory.* Me: I haven't heard that name in many years.. (But seriously, I never played it, but I'd see ads for it on flash game sites when I was 10. Brings back memories.)
32:15 Yes, that was the idea. White saw Black's threat on his queen and thought he could counter it by threatening Black's queen with his rook. He was sure that an equal queen trade would follow. When Black took White's rook with his queen, White was startled but thought: "Oh, we're trading rooks instead, now? Okay." And he took Black's rook without realizing that the rook trade left his queen hanging. He just got tunnel vision on what he thought would be an equal trade.
Hey Levy, I'm currently crying so hard right now. This is seriously the most beautiful, well put together stream ever. I can’t believe how magical it was 1:12. That part truly made me shed a tear. 38:39 Getting your queen, rook and king all forked is pretty impressive honestly
Idea for a video: you get two teams of a 2000, 1600, 1200, 800 and 400. The 2000s play the first 5 moves then hand over to the 1600s for 5 moves etc. See if the lower rated players can convert the advantage their teammates built up or if they just blunder mate in two.
Nice idea but I think it would be more interesting if the lower rated players started first.
@@thesecondderivative8967 agreed. If the higher rated players started first, the first 2 players on each team would just be playing theory or something near to it.
I think it’d be better if one team starts with a higher rated then goes lower and the other team starts lower and goes higher if how they can convert matters
Good idea, but 2000s (and 1600s too, if they didn't star in this vid) would just play theory. So it needs some tweaking.

This is the first time I managed to join it live. What an experience!! Who knew chess could be so fun.

Thank you Levi for existing, I wouldn't be able to sleep if It wasn't for your videos.

10:39 Something about describing something as a crack/cocaine move is really funny to me
The Dobi impression was on point 😂
We need the 2nd game energy in every video 🔥🔥🔥
32:15 Yes, that was the idea. White saw Black's threat on his queen and thought he could counter it by threatening Black's queen with his rook. He was sure that an equal queen trade would follow. When Black took White's rook with his queen, White was startled but thought: "Oh, we're trading rooks instead, now? Okay." And he took Black's rook without realizing that the rook trade left his queen hanging. He just got tunnel vision on what he thought would be an equal trade.
His impression of Dobie is priceless
