I live in the mountains of NC and it’s hard to find a 200 yard gun range here so I can only imagine what a 1 mile range would look like. I would love to come visit some day.
Add you a 5 stand sporting clays range so you can get used to shooting moving targets. That way, folks can shoot shotgun, rifle, or both when they come out. You have plenty of land for it.
Hey Jim, I just want to let you know that from all the RUclips channels i’m subscribed to, the Backfire channel is my favourite! Not only does your channel have a good mix of content, but you and your wives personalities is so pure and good hearted. It is what make the Backfire channel such a joy to watch. Keep up the good work and congratulations on the new gun range. Blessings from South Africa! 🇿🇦
That’s awesome!!! You are living the dream of 99.9% of gun enthusiasts. Looking forward to seeing the progress on the land and range while you fulfill your vision.

have one side of the path be fixed ranges, 100, 150, 200, etc. the other side of the road be random distances that you can change up the steel every once in a while. for extra points, don't allow LRFs on the random side, only analog ranging through reticles. and add a couple remote controlled movers.
I haven't been paying attention. Utah? I thought you were Iderho, and the range would be a range and potato farm. Where's the link to the stuff you're selling? (I'm just on RUclips)
Congratulations! I really like your recoil pads. I’m up in Calgary Alberta and I order one for my 7 PRV and liked it so much ordered two more. One for a 300 win mag and one for a 308. Keep up the great work.
Congrats Jim, you, your wife and cohorts are quickly becoming the top guntubers and it's Well deserved. I've enjoyed the even keeled approach that in every aspect seems to be very unbiased and just great advice and recommendations on your personal experiences. By far the best way to build a loyal and engaged fan base; your random gun talks(ie sitting down on halloween night) are a great personal touch and make for a good engagement.
That place is loaded with coyotes. Grew up in Iron county. We used to call coyotes out that way alot. Between there and Milford the land all looks the same. There are a few dunes out there too. Provides a place to hide the truck when calling.before the electronic calls and widspread coyote calling we killed 6 dogs before noon one day. Used to be great.
I live about an hour from there. If you ever need help with labor or anything getting it set up let me know! I’d be happy to donate time and effort. Cool project, Jim!
Im very happy for you. Thank you for great reviews and down to earth content tailored towards enthusiasts/owners and not gamers. Continue to help promote the freedom you enjoy, so current and future owners have the information they need to get started.
I was rewatching top shot at work during lunch this week with some coworkers this week, and was saying it would be cool to build a gun range with some of the challenges from the show.
Growing up on a property you can shoot on was a great thing I experienced. While we could only shoot small/slow calibers on my parents yard it was amazing to be able to shoot any time you wanted. Shot probably thousands of rounds thru a Marlin .22 I still have.
I'm not jealous, I'm very impressed. I'm genuinely happy to see you "go out & get via the sweat". Path to where you're at now is not fast, simple, easy or cheap. I'm sure when the camera has been off there's been stress, worry, some sleepless nights, some nagging doubts & scary holes in your hip pocket at the wrong times. Always good to see someone chip away at the stone & make good progress. Not exactly 50-100 years of RUclips business models to learn from, hope all the anxious times are long gone for you. Mighty good & well done to your team, your family & yourself Jim. And yup, genuinely appreciate you sharing via RUclips. If the range is ever open to the public & I ever get back to the USA...yeah its a bucket list destination. Keep chipping away PS - "recovering attorney" THAT is just GOLDhahaha Cheers
I live in west Texas and am in the process of buying a small ranch so these things are top of mind for me. I plan on doing plenty of shooting on it myself and am designing a range myself. Right now I’m more concerned about making the berms behind the targets than the shooting position at the moment. I won’t have as much land and won’t be as remote as Jim so I have things to consider he might not.
