Your skills have given the title "carpenter" potential too keep up with any white collar professional. The craftsmanship displayed from your product is truly appreciated from all of us in the trade. Thank you for sharing your work to the world.
Good to see someone just doing beautiful work and not trying to brag with no knowlege of what they are talking about. 90% of the "HOW TO" vids are someone doing it for the first time and using someone elses info to do it. GREAT JOB SIR, YOU ARE A TRUE CRAFTSMAN!
I owned FREE STANDING STAIR in Temecula California but closed in 2008. I have built around 100 stairs similar to this one. Nice work my friend! Reminds me when I built a staircase in my backyard once. Built most of my stairs in shop or on job site. Too much labor and time in between jobs. The money was good. I used to build a stair like this one in about 7 days. Then I started slowing down to enjoy the process a bit more would take about 12 days on average.
Nicely done. Unlike another commenter, I like the metal spindles. It keeps the staircase looking light and interesting while providing the spacing that meets safety requirements.
No way you should not proud to pull out this work . it's complicated, it's difficult and to maintain patient not easy . 100% of perfection. great work 👌👌👌
Amazing, I spent some time working on large house in Whistler BC this year which had a curved staircase being built on site just like this, although on a much larger radius. Rather then framing the treads they had routed housings for them to slot into. I finished up the ski season and headed home before it had been finished though unfortunately.
Next to building wooden clipper ships. I would say building wooden spiral staircases is the peak of the carpenter trade. More so now when everything is made of steel and concrete. As a retired union carpenter from 1962-99 that worked out of Mass. Great to see there is some true tradesman still around today. Bravo!
Hey, I actually build spiral stairs for a living, my father is the real expert. We build them on the job site now instead of a shop. Not that many people do this work. We did 2 with landing etc.. Cheers, to see there are more stairmasters ^.^
@scott wright yes I'm actually doing those exact stairs, and that's the annoying part, we usually use a finish im the interior for them to paint, otherwise the finish detail after Installing the threads is a bitch to anyone....
@@prawlingbadger2642 stairs get a lot of abuse in new construction, since they do install them for all trades to have access. The good higher end builders will install temp stairs.
Oh very impressive work and video. I have few questions about it 1-why don't you use shim for finish on the outer beam. what is the use of this shim? 2-do you use the forms to make the handrail or use an other way to do it? excellent job and I love tour jig for the tread surface
buena escalera buen acabado felicito a todo ese grupo humano que hizo posible ese trabajo, bueno soy de peru y hago los mismos trabajos aca en lima saludos. albertini sac
This has been uploaded for a while but if you are still answering questions I'd like to know how it was disassembled? If the treads are lagged in did you finish the tread laminate onsite? Thanks!
Did you ever get the answers you wanted. Just curious because I have 20 plus years experience without circular stairs, which is basically what this is...not what I consider a spiral.
Boa noite tudo bem ? Belo trabalho !
Very nice work. Is the pitch determined based on the floor heights, allowable headroom and tread depth requirements? How do you calculate the length of a helical radius? Fabric tape on staging walls doesn't seem accurate. I'll bet there is pi involved. Hopefully lemon meringue ;^)
How much do you charge for a finished piece like this, nice work if you can get it, I love the bend and twist in the strings... I would love a chance to do a job like that, but where I live people only like straight flights lol....
now is the 1/4 plywood simply construction plywood & an epoxy glue or do you use standard wood glue? also have you attempted this with a solid birch/maple plywood?
Its nice to see someone put a video on here about installing stairs who actually knows what they're doing. Well done sir

6 weeks to build a stair at the quality
Круто👍🏽 привет из Якутии, это Сибирь России👋🏽✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
That's a well planned installation of staircase. The finished product truly justified the effort and hard work. Great job
Nicely done. Unlike another commenter, I like the metal spindles. It keeps the staircase looking light and interesting while providing the spacing that meets safety requirements.
Years later and still in awe, good stuff man
thank you for taking the time to make this video and share the method! beautiful staircase.
Talent and fine craftsmanship just can't be beat.
Excellent work. Brilliantly designed staircases and railings.
If it's not your house, I wonder if the people who'll use it will appreciate the insane effort you made there... I do. congratulations!
Zane: Awesome work! Thanks for taking some of the mystery out of wood spiral stairs. Beautiful work!
Fantastic work Zane, bet you loved every minute of the build...
Thanks for sharing how you built it. I learned allot, esp ripping the bending ply on an angle. Would have never thought of that. Incredible job!
Jaw? Meet floor!! Simply beautiful work!!
I am stunned. Beautiful Job

That's the way treads should be fixed in via dovetail housings,

Although I don't do it anymore, I consider myself a stairmaster. It looks complicated to most, but quite simple to those of us that are experienced.

@scott wright Did you know that if you build them "on" or at the jobsite you don't even need a license? This is in CA
@@prawlingbadger2642 I didn't, but I imagine you have to meet code requirements...I'm all the way on the other coast.
hello greetings from chile amazing work congrats for you

Looks Beautiful

excellent!
AWESOME!
You could try to bend the inner and outer beams on a jig from solid (comp)wood. That would save lots of time.
that is amazing work, must have taken a few months.
