You need to include Marcion in any discussion of New Testament origins, Marcion's Evangelion and Mark were probably late first century and are synoptic and Matthew and Luke were early second century. Luke is a highly interpolated version of the Evangelion might be a response to Marcion, but the writer of Luke and Marcion might have used a common text, with Marcion preserving it closer to its original form and Luke, possibly using material from Matthew and other sources to embellish it. These texts are also the ones we have access to due to their preservation. There is evidence for other early writings that are now lost to us which have echos or inclusions in the surviving texts, and there were other later attempts at Gospels that have been recovered.

1:51 Codex Vaticanus is, as the name implies, a Codex.
_"Julius Caesar may have been the first Roman to reduce scrolls to bound pages in the form of a note-book, possibly even as a papyrus codex.[17] At the turn of the 1st century AD, a kind of folded parchment notebook called pugillares membranei in Latin became commonly used for writing in the Roman Empire.[18] Theodore Cressy Skeat theorized that this form of notebook was invented in Rome and then spread rapidly to the Near East.[19]"_
_"Codices are described in certain works by the Classical Latin poet, Martial. He wrote a series of five couplets meant to accompany gifts of literature that Romans exchanged during the festival of Saturnalia. Three of these books are specifically described by Martial as being in the form of a codex; the poet praises the compendiousness of the form (as opposed to the scroll), as well as the convenience with which such a book can be read on a journey. In another poem by Martial, the poet advertises a new edition of his works, specifically noting that it is produced as a codex, taking less space than a scroll and being more comfortable to hold in one hand. According to Theodore Cressy Skeat, this might be the first recorded known case of an entire edition of a literary work (not just a single copy) being published in codex form, though it was likely an isolated case and was not a common practice until a much later time.[20]"_
_"As early as the early 2nd century, there is evidence that a codex-usually of papyrus-was the preferred format among Christians. In the library of the Villa of the Papyri, Herculaneum (buried in AD 79), all the texts (of Greek literature) are scrolls (see Herculaneum papyri). However, in the Nag Hammadi library, hidden about AD 390, all texts (Gnostic) are codices. Despite this comparison, a fragment of a non-Christian parchment codex of Demosthenes' De Falsa Legatione from Oxyrhynchus in Egypt demonstrates that the surviving evidence is insufficient to conclude whether Christians played a major or central role in the development of early codices-or if they simply adopted the format to distinguish themselves from Jews.[25]"_

5:54 There are two candidates, if you look at early tradition.
St. Irenaeus, who left Asia Minor at 16, affirms the Gospeller was the Son of Zebedee, one of the Twelve.
Those left back in Asia Minor do not seem to think so. One of them, defending 14th of Nisan, refers to a John "who wore the golden headband" meaning he probably served as Cohen Gadol one of the years in the Temple.

I think when we are talking about the NT, we should not assume that what we see today is the 1st century originals. We don’t know what the original 1st copies said. What we have today as the NT, is of earliest the fourth century, or even later, well in the age of the Roman Church. So what we factually have is a product of the Roman Church, and to understand the purpose of this NT, it must be understood in de context and purpose of the Roman Church, which is in all means a political-religious institution/instrument. Scholars shouldn’t just see the NT in the lens of archeology and history, but also in the lens of politics.

Indeed the NT is political! It reeks of Roman Empirical propaganda!
How is it (at time when the Roman’s controlled Jerusalem) that the NT writings effortlessly vilify the Jewish leadership and honor the Roman leadership? JC is recorded as being complimentary of a Roman Centurion and Pontius Pilate who was a cruel, vicious, hard-headed, insensitive, and brutal ruler is portrayed as a wise and rather sensitive aristocrat who would go out of his way not to offend Jewish sensibilities? Sadly, this political perversion still rings true today.

That’s who Jesus worshipped even stated the father is greater than I meaning the Lord God of the ark of the covenant. even the Muslims, although they deny it, they worship the god of Abraham father of the Jews. and worship the god of Moses, the God that helped the Israelites and Moses cross. The Red Sea parted it in fact, so the Israelites could escape. same. God gave Moses and the Israelites, the land of Israel, the same God of Noah, the same God that king David was given the ability by to kill goliath, so how could there be a different God? There is only the Lord God of the ark of the covenant. That’s who God actually is in the whole world. • @BabyHoolighan
      @BabyHoolighan 3 месяца назад +1

Paul was a Roman citizen and spoke Greek. He was the student of Gamaliel and must have studied some Hebrew. The earliest copies of Paul's epistles are in Greek. There are no autographs of the epistles, but when Paul quotes from the Old Testament, it is clear he is sourcing from the Septuagint which is a Greek translation of the Hebrew scripture. Therefore it is reasonable to assume that Paul composed the epistles in Greek as well.

@@allmapepz I believe the earliest document of Paul's writings are refered to as P46 dated to 125-225 C.E. The scholarship is extensive. You might want to look at the Peshitta which is a translation of the entire Bible into Syriac, a dialect of Aramaic. I bring this up because there is a minority of scholars that approach the research from the perspective of the primacy of Aramaic in biblical studies. And finally, there are the Aramaic Targums (sp?). But be warned, stepping out into this world of rich possibilities is like venturing out into a vast ocean without a boat.

How each group views the documents depends on that group's underlying assumptions. They are using exactly the same documents and archaeological findings regarding the early Jesus community, as well as the context of Greco-Roman culture and Second Temple Judaism, yet coming up with different conclusions.
Since none of the scholars were actually there at the time, such disagreement is entirely foreseeable.

3:39 That's like saying "we have no way of knowing Moses was the son of Amram"
We know that because of the Hebrew tradition, 2000 years ago common to those who were already Samaritans, those who became what we now call Jews and those who became Christians.
We know the authors were Hebrews, except St. Luke. For Hebrews, two suggestions involve Sts Paul and Barnabas, both disciples to Gamaliel. For the Johannine corpus, the majority position in tradition says "the son of Zebedee" while Fr. Jean Colson has made an argument the author is not one of the twelve, but instead a Cohen.

4:40 St. Peter reads alternatively from the Gospels of Luke and Matthew, skipping some, inserting some, and his secretary Mark takes notes, and this happened before St. Peter was killed by Nero and also before St. Mark came to Alexandria, as the first bishop there.
This is obviously not exactly the version of the tradition given by St. Augustine, but it is the one of Clement the Stromatist, who lived, precisely, in Alexandria.
_"The Stromata (Greek: Στρώματα), a mistake for Stromateis (Στρωματεῖς, "Patchwork," i.e., Miscellanies), attributed to Clement of Alexandria (c. 150 - c. 215), is the third of a trilogy of works regarding the Christian life."_
This means his life spans the following popes of Alexandria or patriarchs, or less anachronistically bishops:
    (8) Markianos (142-152)
    (9) Celadion (152-166)
    (10) Agrippinus (167-178)
    (11) Julian (178-189)
    (12) Demetrius I (189-232)
He died after all of the following had died, the first being the Gospeller:
    (1) Mark the Evangelist (43-68)
    (2) Anianus (68-85)
    (3) Avilius (85-98)
    (4) Kedron (98-109)
    (5) Primus (109-121)
    (6) Justus (121-131)
    (7) Eumenes (131-141)
To pretend Clement or Celadion and Agrippinus to name bishops from his youth didn't know what they were talking about won't fly.

    Isaiah: 52:13 & 53:10
Behold, my servant will succeed; he will be exalted and become high and exceedingly lofty.
Hashem desired to oppress him and he afflicted him; if his soul would acknowledge guilt, he would see offspring and live long days and the desire of Hashem would succeed in his hand.
    ----------
Does this mean that the servant will be very good and that God is hurting him for amusement (desired to attack) and wants him to acknowledge his guilt?
Like, is God wanting him to see him as pure evil for knowingly and intentionally hurting good for amusement?
And once he sees God as pure evil he starts doing God’s will of hurting good beings too (desire of Hashem would succeed in his hand)?
    Am I understanding this properly?
    Is this a bad translation?
Does God want his people to harm good beings with him?

Paul was simply exposing frauds, which at first he had taken for people from Jerusalem, which they then weren't.
*And when they had known the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who seemed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship: that we should go unto the Gentiles, and they unto the circumcision:*

Looking at some of the ways paul wrote Christianity it seams like paul isn't just talking to Christians but also to jews. While jews don't believe in hell they can believe that christians contribute to good character. Paul explains why the idea of hell is useful even though it's nonsense. Like for example the idea of hell gets rid of the idea of richuals and the purpose behind it. It also helps us think that Gods word can be spread through words rather then metaphors or creation. And when we leave Christianity to become jews we have more value in the thought of no hell and no war.

For example, there is the account of Jesus chasing the "money changers" out of the Temple. The gospel does portray that as an evil thing in itself, suggesting that it may have been dishonest as well. On the other hand, various Jewish people in the New Testament are portrayed favorably.
Singer describes John and Paul as people who want to persuade people, particularly Jewish people, to become followers of Christ. In much the same way, Singer is trying to persuade people to drop out of Christianity and to persuade Jews to stay Jewish. Does Singer not try to convince that all Christians are ignorant and foolish, at the least?

St. John had no Talmud to refer to, and was himself a great expert on Judaica. As his audience knew.
If he was "known to the High Priests" (a designation reflecting that the office had started to rotate, under impulsion of the Romans), it was probably not as their fishmonger. I don't think fish from lake Genesareth was sold in Jerusalem. It was because he was a priest. Which probably disqualifies him from being the "John" (companion to Peter) mentioned in Acts 4, but not from being the other John, the priest.

I think at a minimum he was ambitious, he never met Jesus yet even now many Christians just haven't taken that on board. I'm most of his letters he's complaining that they're not doing it how he wants. If he didn't get his way, he was a pain in the ass, which makes me think because of the thorn in his flesh he landed himself in positions in which he humiliated himself.

@@bubbagumpy978 Deut 13 came first. Paul came later than Jesus. And didn't Jesus tell everyone if someone came saying "he's in the desert" or "he's in the inner room" not to believe them? Isn't that what Paul said? He met Jesus in the desert on the way to Damascus? Who supposedly showed up in the secret chamber? And wasn't it Jesus who stood in the temple and proclaimed "I AM"? I thought we were warned about this? A man would stand in the temple of God as if he was God. These are all the warnings we were told not to be deceived by. Those stories were edited in much later by the Catholic church. False scribes as Jeremiah 8.8 warned as did John. Paul's teachings are mixed with truth and lies. It's up to us to rightly divide truth from lies. Paul himself was proud of his lies that he told. He was arrogant and a narcissist and did not get along with the other apostles because he wanted to teach a different gospel other than what Jesus, John, Peter, and James taught. Especially claiming women had to be quiet in church and cover the heir heads. Pure lies. How can a woman be quite IN the "church" when the church is not a building. And you can't GO TO church to the ven cover your head because we ARE the church. That's how you find errors in the bible. We must establish the logos of truth by 2 or 3 witnesses line upon line precept upon precept. If it contradicts each other then you know there's a problem. And Deut 13 and all the prophets refute the gospel of Paul in many places.

You're sitting on the edge of the Rabbit hole, red pill or blue pill? So "say this about the OT also?" Non believers do all the time the two creation stories in Genesis. The Exodus, no evidence. Tower of Babel & the mixing up of the languages, didn't happen. The more you find out the worse it gets. The problem is that Jesus & the disciples were all Torah observant Jews & without the Torah, Tanakh, the NT doesn't have a leg to stand on. Just one example, imagine Christianity without them having hijacked Isaiah!! So like the Rabbi, Jews can & will question the NT but Christians can't question the OT, they just can't get away with any criticism of the OT.
