Quick tip- The fan isn't just there to help combustion efficiency, it's there because peltiers need a temperature difference to work. So basically the fire heats one side of the peltier, and the other side is cooled by a heatsink, which needs a fan to work effectively. Just heating a peltier will get you nowhere
ahh, those nice peltier modules, cheap and a lot of fun to play with :D
I know this is 2 years old, but you’re incorrect, it’s even stated on their website that the fan is there to improve combustion. The black thing at the front is the heat sink for the Peltier, and there is clearly no fan there.
@@antekswiergocki6537 Reread my original comment. I never said the fan didn't improve combustion, I said it isn't JUST there to improve combustion. He seemed to be under the impression that the fan was only there to supply combustion air, which isn't the case.
@@averyalexander2303 but the fan is nowhere near the heat sink, and it’s directed towards the metal part. And a passive heat sink would provide enough temperature difference to produce 3w, that the device is rated for (especially since the temperature difference was above 400C according to his measurements)
But in the end, I don’t own the device, and detailed schematics aren’t available, so there could be some duct that directs the air into the heat sink.
@@antekswiergocki6537 Could be, without owning the device or having more info I can not say for sure either. However, one factor that you are overlooking is that peltiers are only about 5% efficient. So to get 3W of power out of it, ~60W of heat would need to be dissipated while still keeping the peltier at a suitable temperature. Peltiers can only handle so much heat and will fail if overheated.

I always find videos of yours interesting, nobody else's. Also, your voice is the only one that isn't annoying in my opinion that makes good content.
The only RUclipsrs I find having really annoying voices are the ones that use filters to sound demonic or alien. Also, some RUclipsrs that don't use pop filters can have very harsh "s" sounds, which is almost unbearable with headphones or earbuds.
Check out "Pete Complete" if you're into gaming. Guy has an amazing voice and doesn't do clickbait and other shit like that.
MARISSA REEVES for real there is absolutely nothing annoying about these videos

I guess it will be excellent for camping.
Yeah good to help connect with nature
@@Phill-Dabong if the nature is usb powered of course
I was a owner of the MK2... and as a camper... i highly recommend it... a great piece of kit for camping or even a bug out bag. I also got the kettle/cup combo.
A owners piece of advice... fully charge the stove with socket/fire and then charge your electronic device whilst using the stove. It just prevents the device from going completely flat at anytime and will fully charge a dead phone fairly quickly. Also use a high transfer micro usb cable. Also the 2nd lowest setting will suffice for cooking, boiling and charging.
It is a very durable and helpful piece of kit.
Babalonkie hey, can it be used indoors?
@@Sam-m04 It could... but i would not recommend it. Depending on the fuel used, the flames can get VERY high. I put a firestarter in one once, it was like a flame thrower, with flames reaching 4 feet tall.
Babalonkie thanks for the speedy reply, hi, my issue was the build up of dangerous gases in a confined space?
So now I can charge my phone with my mix tape. WOW technology has gone so far.
Great video man. I love the stove. Have used it a lot. To charge even faster put a kettle on it so the probe gets even warmer. Did a video about the charging capabilities a week ago. This stove really deliver. Have an amazing weekend!

Kind of like the product I was trying to find something wrong with your video, I can say it was one of your best. Good job glue guy, I vote for more product testing that glue videos. You would be good at the cheap verses expensive tools and gadgets type videos.
Cool product. I would've first drained the battery to near 0% then tried to see how well it charged the phone after getting a fire going.
Honestly this video he made is sketchy. I'm pretty sure they paid him to review the product but told him not to mention they sponsored him. I hope I'm wrong but I don't care either way. He's gotta make money

Didnt even make sure battery pack was empty beforehand (it wasnt)
Tyler: see charging my phone with the fire
If you look at the meter the battery never lowers in charge despite charging his phone for over half an hour.
Only negative I think is that there isn’t a fire starter included or integrated which would be badass
It looks like that gadget has to be charged before you use it because it needs the fan to work. Not sure whether that power source is what actually charges your phone or whether it truly is the fire.
Its the power device but he fire charges that
The fire charges the device which charges your phone. If the fire wasn't charging the battery pack the phone and fan would take the power out of the battery and it would then die.
The fire creates enough power to run the fan even if it has no charge what so ever.
In fact, when starting a fire you dont even need to turn it on.
Once enough heat is generated it turns on automatic and puts the fan on the lowest setting.
The fire temp light indicates how much power the fire is generating.
If the bat is dead, the heat will run the fan, as well as charge the bat.
If the bat is low, dont use it to charge your phone. Just charge the bat then plug your phone in when the bat is full.
That way you can get a full charge one both, and have a full bat backup to charge your phone with later without having to make another fire.
@@christopstanley6652 not after just a hour use ...
@@neighborlyfiend1484 we all know how it's said it's supposed to work, we are wondering if what they say is really true, considering the fan and phone could been charged from previous charge that was already in the battery pack.

I am betting that Small Micro-USB port on the bottom is to charge the batter externally.
Hi Tyler, good video, the product seems cool just from the box
This will get lost in the comments
This is so cool, please do more videos on interesting products like this!
Tyler sitting stuff at the edge of wobbly tables really sets my teeth on edge. STOP IT.
You can make something similar for about $30, some peltier elements, copper heat syncs, a DC-DC step up 5v with female USB and a metal plate to fix the hot side of the element too, (you can then move the assembly away from the heat if the cold side isn't cooling properly, a fan can be added for cooling but you will need more elements and a separate step up to power that effectively)
The negative is the weight. Good for camping but not for backpacking. 2lbs is a lot for just your pack stove. If it was even designed for backpacking...
Yep, anywhere you're going where you want to have a campfire in a can, you're not going to want a big battery weighing you down.
My question is how fast dose it charge your phone from 1% battery to 100% because you have fast chargers now
Jayden Heidtmann i mean at least ur getting a charge when ur out in wild but yeah I wonder too
It is probably the normal 5 volts, .5 amps, the product is older than fast chargers, it came out more than 3 years ago.
Fast charging fucks up your batteries just keep a backup and charge of that
Thank you for reviewing this product. I had not really considered it. Thinking that it would not be worth it. But now I'm reconsidering appreciate it. Have a wonderful apocalypse
I think filming some videos outside could spice up your content. It would be refreshing.
Or ya'know filming with the garage door partly open.
Five bucks he lives in the city someplace with neighbors 10feet from him 😂
bearded man aren't allowed outside, don't you know that?
Sounds like it's the carbon monoxide talking
Shizzy Shoe because it burns fully and is properly smokeless there is no carbon monoxide
That's litterally impossible for fire to burn and not produce carbon monoxide.. matter can not be created or destroyed so when that fire burns its still releasing carbon monoxide
Nick.m the combustion is full, it creates carbon dioxide not monoxide

If this was posted by any other RUclipsr I would have scrolled past it thinking it was click bait. Very interesting product. I will probably buy one if these to add to my edc(every day carry). Although it is small enough where I could clip in on the outside of my bob (bug out bag) I already have a water proof hand crank. You would need dry wood, good conditions, and a flat surface to use this. Its more of a edc item. As you said also, a good thing to put in a vehicle. Great video. Keep up the good work👌👌👌
I have this, with the bundle. It's awesome in every way! It actually senses heat and turns on automatically.
The grill attachment works great, like a small BBQ. The kettle is big and the stove packs into the kettle, staying compact. The grill is not compact, but they made the grill more for function than size- which makes it better for use.
I can say that, if my friends had overpacked with the grill attachment instead of 12 pack bottles of beer when they got too tired to carry their hiking kits over a mountain which required me to carry both including my own, I'd have been far less pissed off with them because at least it'd have been easier to cook the steaks they also inappropriately packed In a cooler in their other pack....
In other news, that was the first and last time I hiked with those friends lol.
did you just say shine light into the fire
A mod to make a air heater.
Make a metal box with a coiled metal tube in it and 4 holes, one big hole on the bottom to mount on to the stove, a smaller hole on top with a metal tube welded externally to it to vent any smoke and fumes, then 2 on the sides for the internal coiled tube. Mount a heat resistant usb powered fan on one side of the coiled tube to blow in air and have the other side of the coiled tube lengthy to send the heated air to where its needed. Fire up the stove and plug in the usb fan. Maybe use a usb hub to run the fan as well as charge power other usb devices.
Also maybe make a hatch door on the side so you can put in wood fuel.
why do Tyler only have 166k subs? he makes amazing content that nearly no one watches
How good are chewing gums as glue
I asked that before ;-)
Well this beats the crap out of solar panels doesn't it? Definitely the only solution when you have over cast weather off-grid! This is the answer to my prayers I'm definitely getting one and a blowtorch.
The fan is making a cold air tube around the fire the vacuum effect using air in a way that the fire and its heat stays in the center meanwhile the air keeps the cage cold and not at high temps allowing the outside to be any heat rated material
Haha that small port on the bottom must be for charging the battery
If they lowered the price to $50 I’d get it. $150 - $250 depending on if you get it on amazon is too much for that. I’d rather get a solar powered generator for that price like a jackery or one of the cheaper versions
Very unique and great product though
So I had one and it didn't work but seeing this makes me want another one to see if it will actually work
There's probably just a power bank in there and once it's dead, you're screwed
I wondered about that also so I went to the company website. Heat from the fire charges the battery, which runs the fan.
@@justmeandthethree yeah it is a power bank, the heat charges with something explained in the comments from a hot and cold inbalance system, that pumps the charge in to a battery pack that the phone plugs in to and the fan , so you can run the fire and charge the power bank so you can still use it days later after without lighing another fire until it is depleted
@@upsidedown4155 Batteries don't do well with heat like that.. I don't see this lasting very long.
@@Wheelman1966 i totally agree with ya, never said it would last lol
Me: grabs matches out of bug out bag to light fire
Tyler: grabs blowtorch
Let’s nor forget…..this thing is an awesome cooker!
I've had one of these for a year or two it's totally worth the $50 investment
how much is the battery capacity of the biolit battery? and how long does it take to charge its own battery from 0%? these are the questions we need answered. the fire doesnt directly charge your phone. the fire charges the battery which then charges your charger. also the micro usb at the bottom i believe is to charge the battery directly from an outlet if you need to. in fact it may be the real use of it. and the fire is for emergency.
The most thing I notice it looks lite and portable. Then the fan is turned on ...Loud high pitch fan. Which makes it a no go. Put a quite fan and I would buy it..
I met a backpacker that had one of these. they're just awesome durable quality product, and your doing an honest review. it's hard to fault the bio lite.
4:13 thats for charging it if you just wanna use it as a powerbank without waiting for fire to charge it
Flex seal shooooeeeees btw love the videos
Wish you had drained the charge completely before you started so we could see just how good it is
I noticed the charge indicator didn't move up from the beginning to the end.
You only ran it for 30 minutes though. Plus the FRONT was 130 degrees. How long until the battery fails if at all?
You should build a camp site out of sticks and leaves and glue it with flex glue. Then use that product as a source of cooking and electricity.
Well that would be a good idea but there would be alot of chemical when flex glue burn
Make boots out of flex seal and tape
the only bad thing is that it has one port instead of two for charging devices (and if there was a bigger version of this product with maybe four ports for charging, that would be even better, but for what it is, it's already pretty great)
Tyler , doesn't it scare you that the fire is using an explosve with that torpedo effect. The people in the US who live in Torpedo Alley. They must be sick of the submarines lol.
Hey I know this is random, but you should test the strength of zip galvanized flashing tape, I get it at Lowe's.
That's fire🔥🔥🔥🔥
The only thing that would make it better is if it included some kind of in built arc lighter so you could have an all in one kit.
Those were some *_sexy_* shots in the beggining
It uses a tec to create power from heat . You can buy tecs pretty cheap and place it anywhere there's good heat to create power . I use them to tern wasted hear from my PC to produce power that would otherwise be wasted heat .
You need to tell us when the video is sponsored tyler
Do another video with this stove and try burning like charcoal briquettes in it and see how well it does
BTW it's a tornado effect not a torpedo effect. And that micro SUB port on the bottom is to charge the battery not another device you putz.
Let’s go to number two indeed!
The "probe" is a thermocoupler like item. It is what you find on a gas wall heater. The pilot light heats the thermo coupler which creates the power to kick the gas valve on. The thermo coupler also keeps the valve open for the pilot light to keep burning. Also the micro USB port is to charge the battery. That's my guess.
Id probably knock it over on myself or phone
But I’d love to have one
The flame labeled light tells how fast it’s charging
are you sure??
I would worry about how long the battery is good for.
Yeah... I bet. Back in the 70s we were promised clean energy from the folks at Three-Mile Island. Didn't work then. Won't work now.
Ah yes, because i have always wanted a fire powered phone charger
thats pretty cool but ouch $150
negatives would be well its damned expensive for a camp stove and its too heavy and bulky for backpacking.. packpack stoves typically weigh only a few ounces
It sounds way useful!(Groovy!)
When you must move on from a normal charger
I'm really worried he's going to asphixiate in his garage some day .
You have good intentions. But man, you need to be thorough in prep. I've seen it alot with your videos. Either false information on the product or doing things incorrectly. That bottom micro USB is not another output port. It's where you can charge the battery to full. Go camping or whatever and just maintain the charge with the fire....and I've never seen this before or didn't even bothering research. I just can tell by looking at it and the location of it
Another thing I feel he should have tested how long it takes to charge a phone from 0-100%
@@6181green abbout 2 hours
@farts are us honestly. Hes just a guy in his garage testing some stuff out
This machine is a glitch in the matrix
Try killing the battery pack 100% to where the fan does not work. Time how long it takes to charge the battery pack. Your phone charged from the precharge on the battery was already at 3 bars.
I never knew a product like this existed.
So when you gonna do my idea of Rodent glue? Just askin cause im pretty sure it will have suprising results
This is honestly awesome
a torpedo is a mini missile.
That looks like a creative item to have on hand.
Thank you for sharing this with us Tyler.
Of course it charges the phone but not from fire but from the battery!
The question is does it charge the battery from the fire, and how long does it take? or is the micro usb for charging the battery?
A bigger version would be nice...
Wanted to see this. Thanks.
Anyway you can test out one of those polish tent-jackets?
How do u charge the yellow battery thing, or does it charge from the fire
Here's a native the rubber piece where it cover usb can come off.
what about the fire coming from under the cooking pot and burning the top of the battery pack? idk if that would be prob or not but you might check into that. great video man i want one either way.
Not a concern
what cool about that no need too go outside too make a bonfire all you need is marshmallow
*sees in feed* What on EARTH could he possibly be doing now... I gotta see this
I see a negative right off. All those flames pat the top will melt the plastic if there is a pot on top
Very cool product but smokeless doesn't mean its safe to breath :) Please open the door next time to let some fresh air in ;)
Can you do the new attachments for this n vook up some weenies I think you'll like the new upgrades also
So were just going to ignore the fact that it could just be a scam and the battery pack on there could just be charging your phone while it also powers the fan.
