    Quick tip- The fan isn't just there to help combustion efficiency, it's there because peltiers need a temperature difference to work. So basically the fire heats one side of the peltier, and the other side is cooled by a heatsink, which needs a fan to work effectively. Just heating a peltier will get you nowhere

    • @chrisakaschulbus4903

    • @antekswiergocki6537
      @antekswiergocki6537 3 года назад +1

      I know this is 2 years old, but you’re incorrect, it’s even stated on their website that the fan is there to improve combustion. The black thing at the front is the heat sink for the Peltier, and there is clearly no fan there.

    • @averyalexander2303
      @averyalexander2303 3 года назад +3

      @@antekswiergocki6537 Reread my original comment. I never said the fan didn't improve combustion, I said it isn't JUST there to improve combustion. He seemed to be under the impression that the fan was only there to supply combustion air, which isn't the case.

    • @antekswiergocki6537
      @antekswiergocki6537 3 года назад +1

      @@averyalexander2303 but the fan is nowhere near the heat sink, and it’s directed towards the metal part. And a passive heat sink would provide enough temperature difference to produce 3w, that the device is rated for (especially since the temperature difference was above 400C according to his measurements)
      But in the end, I don’t own the device, and detailed schematics aren’t available, so there could be some duct that directs the air into the heat sink.

    • @averyalexander2303
      @averyalexander2303 3 года назад +2

      @@antekswiergocki6537 Could be, without owning the device or having more info I can not say for sure either. However, one factor that you are overlooking is that peltiers are only about 5% efficient. So to get 3W of power out of it, ~60W of heat would need to be dissipated while still keeping the peltier at a suitable temperature. Peltiers can only handle so much heat and will fail if overheated.

    I was a owner of the MK2... and as a camper... i highly recommend it... a great piece of kit for camping or even a bug out bag. I also got the kettle/cup combo.
    A owners piece of advice... fully charge the stove with socket/fire and then charge your electronic device whilst using the stove. It just prevents the device from going completely flat at anytime and will fully charge a dead phone fairly quickly. Also use a high transfer micro usb cable. Also the 2nd lowest setting will suffice for cooking, boiling and charging.

      The fire charges the device which charges your phone. If the fire wasn't charging the battery pack the phone and fan would take the power out of the battery and it would then die.

    • @neighborlyfiend1484
      @neighborlyfiend1484 5 лет назад +4

      The fire creates enough power to run the fan even if it has no charge what so ever.
      In fact, when starting a fire you dont even need to turn it on.
      Once enough heat is generated it turns on automatic and puts the fan on the lowest setting.
      The fire temp light indicates how much power the fire is generating.
      If the bat is dead, the heat will run the fan, as well as charge the bat.
      If the bat is low, dont use it to charge your phone. Just charge the bat then plug your phone in when the bat is full.
      That way you can get a full charge one both, and have a full bat backup to charge your phone with later without having to make another fire.

    You can make something similar for about $30, some peltier elements, copper heat syncs, a DC-DC step up 5v with female USB and a metal plate to fix the hot side of the element too, (you can then move the assembly away from the heat if the cold side isn't cooling properly, a fan can be added for cooling but you will need more elements and a separate step up to power that effectively)

    A mod to make a air heater.
    Make a metal box with a coiled metal tube in it and 4 holes, one big hole on the bottom to mount on to the stove, a smaller hole on top with a metal tube welded externally to it to vent any smoke and fumes, then 2 on the sides for the internal coiled tube. Mount a heat resistant usb powered fan on one side of the coiled tube to blow in air and have the other side of the coiled tube lengthy to send the heated air to where its needed. Fire up the stove and plug in the usb fan. Maybe use a usb hub to run the fan as well as charge power other usb devices.
    Also maybe make a hatch door on the side so you can put in wood fuel.

    The only thing that would make it better is if it included some kind of in built arc lighter so you could have an all in one kit.

    It uses a tec to create power from heat . You can buy tecs pretty cheap and place it anywhere there's good heat to create power . I use them to tern wasted hear from my PC to produce power that would otherwise be wasted heat .

    BTW it's a tornado effect not a torpedo effect. And that micro SUB port on the bottom is to charge the battery not another device you putz.

    The "probe" is a thermocoupler like item. It is what you find on a gas wall heater. The pilot light heats the thermo coupler which creates the power to kick the gas valve on. The thermo coupler also keeps the valve open for the pilot light to keep burning. Also the micro USB port is to charge the battery. That's my guess.

    You have good intentions. But man, you need to be thorough in prep. I've seen it alot with your videos. Either false information on the product or doing things incorrectly. That bottom micro USB is not another output port. It's where you can charge the battery to full. Go camping or whatever and just maintain the charge with the fire....and I've never seen this before or didn't even bothering research. I just can tell by looking at it and the location of it

    Try killing the battery pack 100% to where the fan does not work. Time how long it takes to charge the battery pack. Your phone charged from the precharge on the battery was already at 3 bars.

    Of course it charges the phone but not from fire but from the battery!
    The question is does it charge the battery from the fire, and how long does it take? or is the micro usb for charging the battery?

    So were just going to ignore the fact that it could just be a scam and the battery pack on there could just be charging your phone while it also powers the fan.
