외국어를 어설프게 하고 있는 제 입장에서는 매우매우매우 유익한 인터뷰였습니다. 역시 말을 잘 하려면 단어를 많이 외워야하는 이유이기도 하고요. 단어보다 발음이나 다른 부분을 더 신경쓰다보면 오히려 실력은 늘지 않더라고요.
듣다보니 깨달았는데 얼마전 오랜만에 외국어를 쓰게 되었는데, 오히려 한국어를 외국인들이 하게 되면 조금은 서운한 마음에 드는게 제가 더 배우고 싶은 기회가 적어진다는 무의식에 그랬던것 같네요. ㅎㅎ

중국어에 搭配(호응어휘)라는 말이 있는데, 짝이 맞는 단어를 쓰는 것도 중요하다고 생각해요.

For me personally, a fluent speaker is able to tell how frequently a given word is used. A fluent speaker can both use and avoid rare words in the right contexts. I've told Scottish speakers here in Australia that they aren't really fluent because they ignore the vocabulary range of their listener. I know that's really rude, but so is the Scottish habit of speeding up their speech when asked to repeat themselves!
