This guy was my childhood hero...we ALL wanted to be able to race our dirt bikes like the Hurricane Hannah! The 80’s were the best times.

My Hero when I still had any. As I said in another Comment… I watched him win the 1977 Seattle Supercross on a stock YZ250 D.
Against all the works bikes… They raffled the bike off after that final he was that good at his peak.
And as other commenters have said yes Rall real individualism the freedom to be who you are if enough people dislike you you may fail or if you have enough willpower you'll still persevere are the way you're free to be you.
Bob Is Bob... like so many great motocrossers, a hard ass shell with a big old heart.
Bob Hanna.. Self Reliant to the end.. He started racing at 17. Steam rolled the best riders. Has his own planes. Likes to hunt... And tells big ass whooper stories like an American should....

I work at the airport that Bob keeps his planes at. I see him a few times a month and he knows me by name, I fuel his planes regularly. Every time he sees me, he asks how my life and school are going and we BS for at least half an hour at a time. I found out rather quickly that he LOVES to pick on people, and some find it offensive or off-putting. However, wanna know how to get on his good side? DO NOT treat him as a celebrity, and you give his playful slander right back to him and fight fire with fire 🤣 I think the second time I met him, he made a remark about me being pretty skinny, and I turned around and made a comment somewhere along the lines of "Well, I'd rather be skinny than have crazy ass hair like yours" and walked away. The next time he saw me, he told me that he and his buddies laughed their asses off when I walked away, and now, he and his business partner call my work and ask for me specifically to service his planes. Never a dull moment with this guy 🤣
Tell him Doug from Michigan says we old guys did not forget his MX/SX racing career or his character, and he should pick up Jimmy Weinert and do "The Whiskey Throttle Show", and see if they can piss Ping off. That is the show people in the future, will go to for history of the sport.
I left Bob a message on his company number, and his voice was on the announcement,---but he never called me back. :)
The "life of history" needs Bob to do that show. Copy and print my request, please, and show it to him.
Pick up Lechien too, (the guy who figured out how to ride like the wind when he got tired),-----and make it a party. :)

My dads favorite rider. Bob was always too old school for me to care about until I grew up. This guy takes no prisoners. Total savage and one of the best ever.

Bob Hannah is the epitome of a great American! If there is anybody in the world who loves his individualistic attitude, come to the USA. We need you.
We let masculinity die when John Wayne, (a hero of Hannah actually). Will individual liberty die when Hannah dies? That is up to me and you while we still have a choice. Study the lines of philosophy, (how individualism started), and you will see how to get a hole shot in life.
When Hannah retired at Unadilla, Suzuki flew in John Wayne's son and he presented Hannah with a Winchester John Wayne commemorative rifle. It was pretty cool. Long live Hannah!

this is what sport needs, today it’s all refined no characters which is fine to have role models but sports people should be the role models, that’s a parents job, but we need personalities real ones not fake BS, Bob is always real🤙

Bob,I got one word in Italian for youse ,duiz pots,you crazy,is what we say,gotta love you...Italians love to fight,you know about everything,only people who argue and fight more,I'm 100% italian,is Hungarians,dey is crazy too and they love their racing too.just like italians.I used to work for a Hungarian guy,ever day one of his friends would come to the shop and they'd talk for an hour,it would get heated an heated,after a week I said ,bufungul,what are you guy arguing about,bigger guy comes to me,smiling and say,yesterday he said that car is green,I said its blue,today he said it blue,that's what they were fight about...cuz I pots,you crazy,you crazy...don't try to figure em out right,they don't want to be.Love your story,beautiful,farkin beautiful,you wanna half sandwich?ayh .
