Excellent review. You captured the dual meaning of the song extremely well. Most reviewers I've seen haven't made the religious connection you did with this initial listen, and I think this blending of spirituality and sex was definitely intentional. Infact I'd say over half of u2s work does this.
Thanks! I sort of got a hunch that there was more to it than what appears on the surface. Their song "With Or Without" seemed to have a dual meaning as well, so I sensed a trend. If half of their work does this then I will definitely need to visit more of it. Because I find duality in song meanings to be fascinating.
Yes, this song and the album it came from was a huge departure from anything U2 did before, and people were either into it or not. I’m glad I’ve stuck with them all these years. Check out some tunes from their War album, especially New Year’s Day for early work and more great bass lines. They are together over 40 years so they have a huge treasure chest of music to check out.
This was the second single of ''Achtung Baby''. The album was a departure of thier work of the 80's, became this album was more alternative rock with mix with electronic, industrial rock, underground music and hip-hop and. The three first singles (the three biggest hits of this album) was all very risky (and the reason why this album was a best-selling at the same title has ''The Joshua Tree''), ''The Fly'' was very feature a very rigid sound, a mix of hard rock, industrial rock and hip-hop. ''Mysterious Ways'' was a mix of funk, rock and electronic vibe, didn't sound like thier past one more time. Finally, The third single, ''One'' also was a departure because it's was thier first ballad to released in single and depist the group recording few ballads in their albums before, the record company released always his most energic songs before and it's was one the most relevant ballad of thier discography and the first time who they released a slow ballad.
Once again I think you are the most eloquent reaction guy on RUclips (which I think you have to be to take on U2's Treasure Trove). I think Bono and U2 demonstrated the struggle between the spiritual and the sensual in their songs because they are both equally strong forces on our human nature.
My God one of the most eloquent and insightful reactions ever. You just gained a new subscriber. Good luck with your channel!

Thanks so much. Yeah, I think the chorus with the "she moves in mysterious ways" tipped me off as to the duality of the song meaning.
u2 was formed in 1976 as school kids
