That Glenn Johns isicolies triangle tutorial was the best I've ever seen on the internet. Would be awesome to have vintage footage of Glenn yelling at Keith Moon, "Don't move the fish!!!"
Man, I just did some serious repositioning of my speakers, am sitting right at the 38% latitude and this video is the first thing that they play back. And I am stunned. By the bass response. These speakers never had this pure deepness. And now I suspect you of having done some aural trickery to make them seem to sound like this. If the next things I play back through this set sound worse, I need your trick in order to continue living. Just to warn you. And thanks for all the advice you spread. It's because of what you and others have teached me that I can finally be confident I've done the best I could for my ears, neighbours and slightly autistic brain. Glory to you!
I am using since some months an Evo8 on my MacBookPro M1, BigSur. I never had an issue, everything runs smoothly and well. It's my perfect choice for live playing because potentiometer can work independently on two couples of stereo output (one for FOH and one for my personal monitors). It's a killer feature that it's present only on this board. If I'd need more channels I would immediately buy Evo16. Quality and price are incredibly attractive.
Soooo, you are still making videos :D. And an excellent review it is (Jeez, I missed Mark). Nice unit, but the bugs and Ryzen issue, as comforting it sounds that the support was very helpful, let's hope they are as helpful when the average John Doe has an issue.
Hey guyyyyyys!!!!! Nice to see you again!!!! Another great (and funny!) review, as always! P.S.: On the off chance you use iPads could we see a review on the viability of one for recording/mixing/mastering?
My guess it’s Monterey! I’ve had the Evo 16 for over a month now on my M1 Mac mini running Big Sur with Logic Pro and everything works perfect! Download the drivers was a breeze and the smart gain works flawlessly, definitely the operating system is my guess!
I have had my EVO 16 since July. I use it with Mac Studio M1 Protools 12, Monterey 12.6. I have recorded two albums with drums, bass, vocals, guitars simultaneously without incident. I did have a problem, which was resolved through replacement recently. The monitor outputs 1 + 2 were outputting at different volumes and eq. Drove me and PMC cuckoo, but I finally tested the EVO and there was the problem. Thanks for the Videos…and the fish! Lol
Great to see you guys back! So Mafk has a numis ie multifunctional nobs. You could have solved all of the units problems by letting Flop Cat turn it off and on again.
EVO interface are great if they are working. I have EVO4 for about a year now. One big problem i had is that i had to restart interface(unplug cable) everytime i turned on my PC. Support couldn't help me on that issue for over a month (even though they were answering in 4-6 hours) and that issue was in drivers itself(what i was saying to support) it was fixed only 3-4 weeks ago(at least new drivers helped me). Also weird feature like controlling master volume on system mixer(on windows) with interface volume knob, was real pain in the ass, when i needed to work with obs and also stream video/audio from PC. After all that i actually dreamed to return back to my focusrite interface. Based on my experience i think EVO 16 will be usable on PC after year on market, and might have big problems on start.
May I suggest an idea for a video?: “How does the interface sound?” Blind testing different interfaces are pretty difficult right? Would it be possible to record a 100% identical signal/tone/sound-that doesn't change whatsoever between takes-into a number of different interfaces and then see how much of difference they would do in a nulling test? Particularly interesting as we today have such amazing quality even in lower price interfaces. One very common bias people have (including me) is that higher price equals better sound quality. Not necessary mate! A very high priced converter can have higher noise level and more jitter than a low cost converter. However, the noise level and jitter are most often way off for our ears to actually notice any of the issues. Conclusion: Can we actually hear the difference between a 400 euro interface from a 5,000 euro interface? I think most of us would be offended by that question (me included) but do we actually hear what we think we hear?
This is a very good idea, and it’s something that we have tested beforehand privately in our studio, but never made a video on, so maybe in the future we can make a video on it, thanks for the suggestion! We love our Focusrite Clarett 8PreX as it nulls out in monitoring, so it’s as clear as you can get, and it was £1,000. There are other awesome interfaces for even less money. We can definitely do a video on this!
@@PresentDayProduction Yay, happy to hear. Looking forward. I have had the idea for some time but it's too much funds to make myself. I only have UAD interfaces and would probably be surprised that the sound difference between different interfaces (brands) would be much less than one might expect. Not to mention of course, there's more to why we chose a certain interface than just the sound. Specific functionality, ease of use etc.
We miss everyone too! We have been SUPER busy working on our PDP studio monitoring system, and we’re done! We’re working on a three-part documentary now, coming really soon!

WHAAAt Guzausk-Swist GS-3a in the background just chilling. I have been researching those the past few weeks. Whoa, Stoked to see what you guys will think of them!
amazing interface, but it still missing the same features as his small brothers evo4 and evo8: auto gain button on the software and a possibility to connect a remote app for musicians to be able to control their monitor volume.
Smart move for the interface to double up as a laptop stand. Throw in a smart eq and smart compressor and I’ll be tempted haha. Too many interfaces already

Do you think you’ll do a follow up using the max inputs with a band at any point? Also, still haven’t seen the vid about using monitors for recording vocals then inverting or whatever the technique is, so you don’t have to use headphones.
Would love to see you guys review the Arturia AudioFuse Studio. My Clarett 4Pre USB is ok but it does have a few issues working with Win 10 and as well as having far more features the Arturia doesn't seem to have any of the issues that Audient and Antelope seem to have with pc's, support and customer service. The PC issues you described in this video would send me into meltdown and why this is happening in 2022 with supposedly serious bit's of studio kit defeats me. The Arturia is a bit more expensive but maybe that's why it seems to come with no annoying issues? 😎
@PresentDayProduction What ended up being the solution to the MacBook Pro being able to see the interface? I'm having the exact same problem. Just got my EVO yesterday and it doesn't work in either of my Mac computers- not my personal computer, or my work computer.
10 minutes to dl all you personal data : ) I say yay to power buttons. Non negotiable. I do like the product design though. Also a nice high res and clear GUI in the software. Well done Audient. You've never played Pacman have you? That's the cute ghost.
Why not run the viewer through what you had to do to get the interface up an running instead of just glossing over it? Walking the viewer through just a simple overview of what happened could be valuable for others troubleshooting the problem. My guess is you had to enable kernel extensions for the mixer software to work which is a common task with any A/V gear that isn’t using the default MacOS built in drivers. Was that the case?
It was a case of reinstalling and updating the firmware using what I believe was a non-public version to eliminate the issue. It was an extremely rare issue aparrently

Not that I know of just yet, Audient came down to our studio last week to try out some fixes but we’re still seeing degraded performance
