Very enjoyable videos John, you always hit on interesting and helpful topics.
Can you top it and turn it into a bonsai looking tree?
I’ve got one with serious die back. More brown than green. PI sprayed once with fungonil. Would infuse be better or another copper spray?
How far apart should I'd should these trees be planted .
I have 4 of these...about 3 years old...One is growing a co dominant leader. should I cut it back? if so, what time of year?
Love these!! How far apart for a privacy screen like in the video? Thanks!!
That hedge was planted about 6' on center for an immediate hedge. Cryptomeria grows extremely fast so you could pull them out to 8' on center no problem. Keep them away from the house as well, cryptomeria grow very fast if they're happy.
@@CTSCAPER thank-you so much!! Really appreciate your video and feedback, the hedge is lovely 😊 will check out more of your videos!
Thank you for the video! Do these trees have a cedar-ish aroma or how would you characterize the fragrance they emit?
I love my Japanese Cedar I live in West Tn
Does the vong US that kill spruce trees kill the cryptomeria as well?
Will these trees do well if planted in southern California ?
do these plants do well in phoenix arizona?
Nice looking shrubs. Do they need full sun?
When to prune these?
Thanks great video! How do they grown in shade zone 7
I can't comment on Zone 7, I'm in Zone 6. Cryptomeria like full sun, I don't recommend planting them in shade. You could try Hemlocks, Ilex opaca, or green giant arbovitae in shade. However, there are different levels of shade and dry shade is tougher than 'normal soil conditions' shade. I recommend a visit to a local nursery or your agricultural experiment station if you need some help.
our Cryptomenia is suffering from some rust color die back of the green close to the trunk on some of the mature branches . any remedies for this ?
I don't worry about brown needles inside a tree. It's usually the old needles dying and being replaced by new ones. If you notice die back at the tips of the branches it's cause for concern. I can't say for sure what you have going on there but hopefully that info helps.
Thanks, I will keep an eye on the tips of the branches
8 ft from house. What. No sir.
