Although music award ceremonies are meaningless as music really isn’t a competition, it’s great to see Wolf Alice get the recognition they deserve, fantastic band with fantastic songs.

Because popularity is irrelevant. Of course an artist shot into the mainstream music psyche by a reality TV show are going to have more followers then a band who have had to graft their way into the mainstream consciousness.
This award wasn't fan voted, probably for that very reason.

@@rach6049 no, they're choosing music that has received better critical success. Blue Weekend received entirely positive reviews and was one of the critically best albums of 2021.
Little Mix's last album, on the other hand, received mixed reviews, but at least they're maintaining consistency with their previous albums.

As both a mixer and a fan of wolf alice I’m fairly happy. I do think little mix deserved it more due to their success and achievements over the past year but i don’t want to take this moment away from the winners as they also deserved it. It’s great to see them getting the recognition they deserve and their last album was brilliant.

The award is not about musical quality, it is about the group’s achievements in the year, numbers, sales, popularity. And the only ones who had that were coldplay and little mix. I don’t understand why I win this band.
Exactly. No hate to Wolf Alice, but they aren't as known as LM for example and I have never heard of them before... What else were their achievements last year apart from having a nr 1 album (I must have lived under a rock, because I also didn't know that...??)? And compared to LM's or Coldplay's last year, that's not enough. Sorry, but not only nr 1 albums, but rather charts, sales,... count for "best group" 🙄
Also, LM are musical qualified as well, which people often forget....

@@bucherimi5607 if it was based on chart statistics and popularity, any artist that doesn't make pop music would have absolutely no chance of winning because they'll never consistently make it up a chart manufactured and skewed towards pop music.
Blue Weekend won entirely critical praise and was critically one of the best albums in 2021.
What did Little Mix do? Release a compilation album that unsurprisingly received mixed reviews as it featured songs from albums that had previously earned mixed reviews. But hey, at least they're consistent!
