Over time, we've heard Dan's skeptism fade, and Lynze's interest grow as the fear turns down. It's not JUST the stories, or at least not the ones we hear. It's got to be in good part all thise late nights spent searching, finding things that wont necessarily work for the show, but that linger, that chip away at those walls, and thats been a cool journey to witness.
SO stoked to finally hear a Deer Lady tale!! I’m a member of the Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma and I have relatives, friends, and acquaintances from the surrounding tribes, the Pawnee, Otoe, Tonkawa, and Kaw. As far as I know, we all know about Deer Lady and have various stories about her. The one that sticks with me but I can’t tell you where I heard it or from whom is that during an encampment/celebration/powwow, a stunning Indigenous woman was dancing when people around her began to notice that instead of human feet, she had hooves poking out beneath her shawl. If you have Hulu, please watch Reservation Dogs! There are some great references to Deer Lady.❤️
I SO WANT a spin off series of the Officer Big ( lZahn McClarnon) in this! I saw he's in another series as a police chief but I haven't watched it yet, I doubt it has the supernatural undertones though
The last story about the deer people is a story I have heard even in my tribe (Seneca-Cayuga) of the deer woman. She is a hitchhiker who preys on men and will either curse or will trample men to death. I have heard countless stories of both deer people and the women by the water (aka wet woman) and hearing a story told by a Lakota man makes me think the things I've seen and heard are even more concrete. It's nice to hear Native American stories being told on here!! Much love!
Super interesting to hear them referred to as “wet women”! My brother and his girlfriend at the time (Ponca) stayed in a tent down by the river near our home and awoke to sounds of a woman talking and someone running through the water, only to awake the next morning to deer hoof prints.
There's a hailing thunderstorm in North Houston tonight, so y'all can distract me from crap blasting off the window and scare me to sleep! Merry Giftmas ❤
YOU GUYS!! This is a wonderful Christmas present!! I was shocked and elated when I saw this just now. Thank you so much! Santa Jack O'Lanturk wishes you all a happy Hallowthankstmas. It's the new unified season of giving! Giving Treats Giving Thanks Giving Presents.
Lynze's third story is the first example I've ever heard of deer trying to kill someone from INSIDE the truck. Maybe this will make Dan think twice about hunting deer from a truck.
OMG the street lights going out! I have wondered for YEARS if there is any lore behind this. SO MANY people around me have noticed street lights go out around me but unlike the person and their child in the story I have no other electrical phenomenons or spiritual sensitivities that I am aware of. My mother sees full bodied apparitions and hates the ability... I've always WANTED the ability but alas my only "party trick" is street lights...😅 Does anyone know anything about it? I read an article that say you just notice a light cycling as they do and now you're just hyper fixated on it so you'll notice it even more but the people around me who have noticed have not been prompted, they noticed completely on their own.
Anyasounds like a herald or harbinger. She may be one of the people who helps humanity mature into its next iteration or era. I think it will depend on her pursuit of the gifts she has. If she submits to who she can be, I think she might bring enormous change to the human race. But she will have to embrace who she could be.
I can't tell if Dan's skepticism is fading, or if it depends on the origin. It may also depend on the podcast. Timesuck is more skeptical than Scared to Death. But, if someone in Idaho is skeptical of modern medicine, he'll joke about "Whiskey, laudanum!". But if a Native America brings up, "the traditional way of my people", it's "uh, interesting." No, it's not interesting. Native Americans are not magicians. Their old ways are just as off as white peoples' old ways. No culture has some magical insight to the ways of the natural and supernatural; not in the real world, at least. Only in the folk stories. I can't remember if it was this episode of the previous one, this same mentality made me laugh out loud when a listener wrote in and essentially said, "I'm an atheist and skeptic. I believe in the multi-verse...." I'm not a skeptic. I believe there is a God. = crazy I am a skeptic. I believe in the mutli-verse. = rational, science-based. The skepticism is strong when it's white, Christian based, but disappears almost completely when it's anything else and magic. I'm not saying they can't have their beliefs, obviously, but I would love to get some consistency on what cultures and beliefs get the benefit of the doubt, and which ones get the skepticism. Or at least own up to the bias.
Right? Bro said I’m a skeptical, then the next sentence was “my mom told me a can see energies and ghosts.” I think this person doesn’t know what skepticism is
Here's the thing I have wondered since businesses started installing cameras inside and out. How has every event like the Big Brother Brazil thing not been captured constantly. Given all the stories of things that happen to people, and no one else can see or hear the effects, why wouldn't the person's behavior in response still get recorded on all of the surrounding cameras? I would think we would see this kind of thing everywhere for the past ten years, since everyone got a Ring doorbell.
A perfect Christmas gift to listen to while I finish up wrapping. Merry Christmas everyone!

Best Victorian era story yet
The first story Dan tells was featured on Nukes Top 5 channel, with the Big Brother house. It was pretty crazy

crazy to think the second Lynze story was from someone around my age. Webkinz were AWESOME!

6th comment yay
Merry Christmas 🎁⛄ 🎄
I just watched a story about a murder that happened in Rapid City South Dakota. It was on Avery After Dark. That's such a weird coincidence.
Listened to The Kit-Bag on Tony Walker’s podcast! Nice little story can’t remember the author’s name though. ! :)
Woooooooo
Dan, I know it says "draughts", but it's "drafts".
Pall Mall - Pronounced Pal Mal (with a short 'a' rather than 'Paul Maul').
Enjoy this comment as it is the first one!!
