I would suggest adding more filler into the cone, or making the eight sides overlap a bit. Some gaps for a chewed up look are fine, but the occasional glimpses all the way through are breaking the aesthetic.
Bruv you don't need to apologise that you haven't posted about this one in a "long time" - it' been maybe 2 weeks and you post videos pretty much every few days. Your channel is very active!
I appreciate that, I have been trying to really keep things going and it has been quite the grind. My time frames often get off because I'm involved in so many projects at once.
I like the texture that comes from the offset 1x8 plates. Not because it's realistic to pencils, but bacause it looks like planks which evokes the feeling of wood.
Would be nice if you got that classic ”cone to hexagon” shape pencils have, where it looks like small arcs/wavy pattern, but that’s a lot harder I guess :( I’m surprised you didn’t use your obelisc technique here though, since this feels like a perfect application for it.
Awesome progress. I had no idea how huge the pencil is going to be! Regarding the gaps in the cone: I think they are helping making it look more realistic because this wood in reality is also not totally smooth. But I agree with a previous comment that they might be too big at the moment. To decide whether the gaps are helpful or a problem, I would define a distance from which the pencil needs to look good. Given the size of the object, this is an important criterion in my view.
LOL I cant get my head around autographing for people because I don't think of myself in that way. But I will admit that thought crossed my mind. Guess I need to make a pen next cant sign with pencil :P
I think the jagged edges in the cone look great! Maybe slightly more filled in so you can see the inner technic, but definitely gives the look of a gnarly pencil tip!
@@bricksculpt and if you are particularly daring, you can add "Hinge Brick 1 x 2 Base" in the mix - its a bit of a vertical step between cheese slopes and the panels (though not quite in system I believe)
Your design for the cone seems great so far, I do have one suggestion though: try using some of those rounded slopes that form the outside of a lot of the NASA rocket sets, attached to SNOT bricks built into your existing cone structure. You may have to slightly downscale the cone you have, or upscale the dimensions of the pencil body to make the seams line up a bit better, but having those rounded slopes could potentially do wonders for a rounder cone shape. Great work so far!
good progress so far. was hoping you would make the edges curve at the transition between the sides and the cone, like they do in a real pencil. at this scale i feel you need that!
If you rotate (90°cw) the top piece of your lower case “B”s on your subscribe you could make them capital case like the rest. Unrelated to the video haha love your work!
@@dyda9117 Yes, as someone who dabbles in graphical design the mix of capital case and lower case annoys me and I was already thinking how to resolve that.
Really cool so far Comparing the way the cone looks against the clean end and the unfinished end, I'd say the 'scalloped' look is a must. I think the cone's appearance might be slightly improved by adding some tan pieces around the central axle so there's no spots where you can see through it. I haven't checked if there are any that would work well, but maybe there are some wheel pieces that come in tan you could use. Otherwise 2x2 round bricks would work fine too.
I thought you would. And I know you will try some form of kaleidoscope eventually. I'm just hoping you don't fall into the deep ass rabbit hole I did. Simple and straight forward will work and doesn't require too much complexity.
Last vid on this you said you need to buy a giant eraser and hole saw to make a real eraser. Do the lego style eraser blocks work with real pieces? Also what about the lead? Any art store should have tons of options for sizes I’m sure something out there can be used. I’ll stay tuned this is a super cool build

The way you assembled one piece and then pulled out several more completed ones, you're a pair of white gloves away from turning into @BrickBending
Lol yeah I might have borrowed that one from him.
The top looks great!
The gaps do genuinely make it look more like a wooden pencil that has been chewed.
I think so too
@@bricksculpt do you think so too?

BrickSculpt proudly continues his tradition of reusing the top of his prototype in later iterations lol.
Yeah lol that seems to happen alot
With 90% of what you're showing here I have absolutely no idea what you're doing 🤭, but it is so much fun to watch! 😊
Lol, glad you enjoy it. Hopefully, I'm not explaining it poorly.
This technique would mae a great Death Star Prison corridor
Oh yes it would that's a great hexagon application
You should definitely have some tan on the pencil body AND some yellow on the cone to break up the line between them.

Giant Banana starting to take shape.
Lol

So cool!
Would be awesome for autographs at a convention if it's strong enough.

This is going to be huge! I look forward to seeing the rest of the build!
I love your ideas for builds, very fun and creative!
Thanks
to reduce gaps in the cone you could try around with some 1x2x1 and 1x4x1 panels - they are quite effective for this kind of shaping.
That's a good idea

your cone is genuinely amazing

i love this channel, thanks for giving me consistently interesting uploads to look forward to :)

Someday I will make one lol
A pity that it doesn’t contain any of the cursed pieces…
Oh boy, cursed pieces are good for octagons :/
Are they related to R.R Slugger's Plague Parts?
No they are termed by me in my slang video lol

Thanks, yeah not quite sure how to achieve the eraser yet. I will keep you posted.
You need to make a giant pencil sharpener to go with your four foot pencil.
Oh boy yeah probably
Is it too big to use the pink tires from the Retro Roller Skate (31148) as an eraser?
Yes much too big
Damn, that's big
So will this pencil be of proportionate length or am I to assume that it’s had its fair share of visits with the sharpener?
Probably half or 3/4 length
Why was I thinking of building an alternative version of Jack_Frost's Neko Robot Companion?
The angle of the tip looks a bit... sharp!
You think so? would you make the cone shorter? Considering the size will be 4ish feet long I think its pretty good but maybe I am wrong.
"This is pretty long..."
That's what he said.
Okay.
This is my last comment.
Gonna bite my tongue hereafter.
"We're still working out the kinks..."
