Greetings from the Yosemite National Park area of California!! I’m 70, and lived here all my life. It is the most beautiful place in the world to me.. we just found out that after over 100 years, wolverines have returned!! Nature is a wonderful thing.. Love Grandma Debbie
I am jealous. I have lived in Southern California, my whole life , I am 46. I have visited Yosemite quite a few times in my life. My dream is live there.
Everytime I see Devil's Tower, I think of the movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. That would be a great one to react to. Mackinac Island in Michigan does not allow cars on the island. Everyone either walks, bikes, or takes a horse and buggy to get around. This is why it is more of a summer vacation place.
The place that gave me such a feeling of reverence was the Viet Nam War Memorial. All those names, all those men who died, all the flowers laid under the names, all the people touching their person's name and weeping. It is so powerful. Even more than the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, even more than National Cemeteries with miles and miles of in-line tombstones. So touching.
I counted about 50 over the entire list. Very fortunate. Sequoia trees are like redwoods, only bigger! Devil's Tower is sacred to Native Americans and featured in Close Encounters Of A Third Kind.
@@RUclipsuser-sh3xs Sequoias are in the Redwood family, but not all Redwoods are Sequoias. They are the most massive members of the Redwood family of trees.
I'm a 57 year old American and I've been to 12 of those.
So many more to go.
It's impossible.
Especially when I want to visit the UK and New Zealand and Europe and Asia and Africa and South America and...
This planet is overwhelming.😩

Williamsburg (Named after King William the Third), Virginia---The reason it looks very English is because it was settled by the English in the 1600's. The settlers 1st landed in Jamestown, Virginia, and later moved the colony capital to Williamsburg (area right next door to Jamestown). They have live reenactments of how life was lived back then. Its a very informational and educational experience. The Prestigious and Famous College of William and Mary, named after the monarchs of England, is within the reenactment area. It's definitely worth seeing.
Also, note that Jamestown is worth seeing also since it is one of the first English settlements in the new world.
Spent 4th of July there about 10 years ago. Awesome fireworks display and really enjoyed walking through the 'town' and the shops. Ate lunch at the tavern! Pretty cool place (well not cool... about 103 * that day!).

Millie, at 2:40 that is the falls on the Big Sioux river in Sioux Falls, SD. The ruin to the left of the falls is a 19th century grain storage building that burned. It is as beautiful as it looks on this video.
I grew up in NYC, so all the sites there are very familiar to me. In the beginning of your video you mention the 9/11 Memorial, and I find I just can't visit it. I lived close enough to see, hear, and in the months afterward smell the carnage. I knew six people who were killed that day. One day, a couple of months after 9/11, I passed close enough to see the wreckage, and I just freaked out. I think I'd get hysterical if I tried to visit.
My Grandmother walked across the Golden Gate Bridge with the mayor when it first opened up to the public. Granted, she was just a young girl of 12 then.

If you go to the Golden Gate Bridge don’t stop at the vista point go down below at the coast guard station, you won’t feel rushed and you won’t have your car broken in.
I'm from Michigan and I can tell you Mackinac Island is worth a visit. You can only reach it by boat and there are no cars allowed on the island. It is very much like taking a step back in time. There is an old fort to visit and carriage rides around the island are very popular. The beautiful Grand Hotel is there, although a night's stay is pretty expensive. I always like renting a bike and going for a ride and getting some of their famous fudge for a sweet snack.

Any place in the U.P. is beautiful, I've been going for 40 years now.
I can confirm about Gettysburg being a great place to visit for any history buffs. This is my stomping ground and I have lived like 5 miles from Gettysburg for close to 40+ years now. And even though I live here and have been to the park sooo many times I still find it enjoyable to just go out and walk the fields and sites still to this day.
And if you do visit, be sure to talk to some locals about the park cause there are some interesting facts and things to see that the park tours will not mention or show you. Things like original monuments/markers that were placed while the war was still being fought, easter eggs hidden on the moneuments that have special meanings that the park service tours will not mention or talk about, and special meanings to some monuments that are specific to the unit that placed it etc etc.
The Winchester mystery house was built by Sarah Winchester widow of Sam Winchester. Sam belonged to the legendary Winchester gun maker family. When Sam died suddenly at an early age some shady fortune teller convinced Sarah that his death was caused by evil spirits and the only way to avoid the fate was to buy a house and never stop building on it. That is the modern mystery house. It’s got like six kitchens, 15 bedrooms, a dozen parlors, and tons of traps for spirits like doors that go outside randomly or doors that go into brick walls. The house is completely confusing. Also a dozen or so ghosts are supposedly haunting the place including many workmen and Sarah herself who died at 80. The instant she died all work stopped and workmen fled not wanting to be part of the house although the noise of hammering doesn’t ever stop despite the house not being worked on for nearly a century.
I believe the bedroom count is over 80
I've been there twice and that place is as trippy as Sarah herself was.

Been to 5 of the 50. My brother's wedding was actually at the Ft Worth Stockyards and we went to what was then Glenrose Park (Now Dinosaur Valley park) on a field trip. The other 3 (Mt Rushmore, Nashville, and Yellowstone), I've gone myself as an adult.

For people your age, I think a better U.S. trip would be California (Mountains, beaches, Disneyland), and only a few hrs drive from Las Vegas. When in Las Vegas, you can book bus day tours to the Hoover Damn, or the Grand Canyon fairly cheap. A lot of bang for the buck, and a lot to see and do while keeping time and distance in mind.
Oh yes, forgot to mention the Sequoias Redwoods are spectacular. You should go to those and then see Yosemite.
I've been to 18 of the first 50. Some of them I lived near for a few years, so that was fun.
If I remember correctly from when I was stationed in California, the city could a toll if you was going into the city. They couldn't charge one when heading out of the city was because the entrance of the bridge was inside the Presidio of San Francisco, which is federal property and therefore public property.
I have been to 27 of those. Gettysburg was a soul crushing amazing experience. To stand where Pickett did and then be where his charge got to and see the open ground they had to cross brought me to tears.
Two things a lot of people don’t know about the Gettysburg Address are that the style of the time a long speech was considered to be the best. So being so short was defying of the times yet so perfect for what needed to be said. The second thing is that this was the first time that the United States was referred to as a singular entity. Before it was always a plural.
A great book to read is Lincoln at Gettysburg.
Another Golden Gate Bridge fact. It is continuously being painted. It takes the crew long enough to paint it that, by the time they are done, it's time to start over again.
The White Mountains are so beautiful. Ive been several tumes on our trips to Maine and New Hampshire. The Kancamangus higway is one of the best scenic highways in the US . I love going ❤️
I’ve seen 20 of the places they mentioned. Well, I’m American and I’ve lived in NH, PA, and CO and traveled lots in between. Most are amazing. Some I’ve seen but haven’t toured so I didn’t count those. America is pretty diverse so too much to see but I have a bucket list of my own to see all 50 states. I’m at 46 now. Should be able to cross off the last 4 in the next few years. Yellowstone and Grand Canyon are great but loved Carlsbad Caves and Gettysburg….so many memorials. I’ve seen The Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY too - loved it and the Louvre in France. Only saw about 1/2 the Louvre and I was there at least 5 hours. Would love to go back to see all the art.
If you are near Kentucky you have to go see Mammoth Cave. Its the longest cave system in the world. They have enough tours to be there for a few days taking tours and learning about the history.
I've been to 8, & driven past 8.
Also, the Golden Gate Bridge is still a toll bridge, & it's apparently $8.80 for a car only going into San Francisco (if you're leaving town, there's no toll; but the price goes up for larger vehicles). Plus, the mountains that Mt Rushmore is apart of is an indigenous sacred site, & the Native American tribes in the area are not happy about the carvings, so it's one of those contested areas in the US.
Wow a plug for Dinosaur Valley State Park. I’ve been there quite a few times but still haven’t seen the footprints, because they’re in the riverbed, and usually underwater. Good hiking there but if the river is too high they shut down the trails, which are across the river from the main part of the park! Happened to me a week ago when I went there to hike. Fortunately there are two other state parks within a half hour so I diverted.
Seeing the Memorials & Monuments in Washington DC is a powerfully moving experience, but it's hard to describe it in words. I was there as a teenager in the late 1980s. They are beautiful symbolic tributes to significant historical people & events in the US. They evoke feelings of awe, respect, gratitude, sorrow, remembrance, etc. The war memorials, Arlington National Cemetery & the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers remind us that Freedom isn't Free. Each Memorial & Monument has a specific significance, as do other Memorials & Monuments throughout the country.
I’ve been on 19 for this part of the list. And Mackinac Island in Michigan prohibits automobiles, so your options are foot, bike and horse drawn carriage.
Well I hoped I’d have more but I only got 8. Lol one of them is Mackinaw Island and just so you know, it’s not really intended to be a tropical beach style vacation. It’s quaintness is it’s draw. There aren’t cars on the island, so transportation is largely done on bikes and with horses. Beautiful sunsets too. It’s a really great place to go for a nostalgic family vacation. I worked there one summer as a server, I made more money than I’ve ever seen in one place at a time. Lol
In 55 years of being married seen most west of the rocket mountains 18 so far, we love a good road trip.

James is correct in that you did recently learn that Kill Devil Hills was in North Carolina. The Wright Bros. lived and did all their work in Dayton, Ohio but did their test flights at Kill Devil Hills because of the consistent winds.
You guys would love DC! It’s pretty walkable and the museums are free!
And they have a decent underground system to help you get around to places too far to walk to.
I love DC! Magnificent monuments, museums and it’s a beautiful city.
For any battlefield monuments, you want to visit the museum. Unless you really know a lot about the battle itself, there usually isn't much to see on the terrain, but the museums are usually really good.
Gettysburg is a must see, if you ever get to go, Take one of the free guided tours, very informative, awe inspiring bravery literally captured in time, past history can be a window into future history ❤, IMO
Highly recommend a ghost tour too if you’re in Gettsyburg during the right time of year! Whether you believe in ghosts or not it’s a great addition for historical stories.
@@Suprachiasmatic very true, I stayed at a hotel during one of my visits there, the hotel was literally right on the battlefield, ( shut down because of that fact but it was many years ago);although I personally witnessed nothing odd, (there was an odd feeling I had of something not quite normal) but my wife did, she told me she was often awoken in the middle of the night by odd sounds within the room, nothing scary of course but things not where they were put, strange voices and such, Gettysburg is probably the most haunted place in America

@@Suprachiasmatic Yes! I was going to say that the most convincing "ghost" videos I've seen, on the myriad cable paranormal shows, were two from Gettysburg. One where two guys in their car come upon an apparition at night near some old cannons and the other, extremely spooky footage of what appears to be faintly luminescent figures walking a trail just inside the treeline! Could be fakes, but I believe these were taken before the latest technology made it fairly easy to insert images into a complex visual setting.
I live about 30 minutes from Gettysburg! Definitely worth the trip. Some really nice wineries in the immediate area also!
Any national park in the US is well worth your time and effort! Awe inspiring!
Skip the Golden gate Bridge. Go see the Mackinac Bridge.

Santa Fe New Mexico,
The Great Lakes from the western side of Michigan (sleeping bear dunes), lake Superior, Province Town Massachusetts, Gettysburg, Space Museum in Huntsville Alabama,
Mackinac Island is beautiful in the summer.
Crater Lake in Oregon is gorgeous (and real) ! And rest assured it really does look like that :) There's a beautiful lodge you can stay in as well. I've done one of the boat tours in Seattle before and they're a lot of fun!
19:40 Mackinac Island. He neglects to add one of the coolest features about it. There are no cars allowed on the island. Travel is strictly horsecarraige or bike pretty much. You have to take a ferry to get there, and it is truly a beautiful place to visit if you can get over the horse manure smell. You have to go during the summer months as it is a ghost town in the winter.
As somebody that grew up in the area, if you do decide to visit the Seattle/Puget Sound area do it during the summer months. Also, besides that area, within a few hours of it you have Mt. Rainier/Cascade Mountains to the east and on the Olympic Peninsula you have an actual rain forest and also the Pacific Ocean coast. If you were to cross over the Cascades you could actually go into desert areas in eastern Washington State. Always lived growing up these that no matter what you were withing hours of whatever environment you wanted to be in.
I've been to only seven of those destinations, but I've obviously added to my list of "must do's!" Thank you!

The current fare to cross the Golden Gate Bridge is about $9.00 for normal passenger cars. It's cheaper for regular commuters with "Fast Pass" and more expensive for commercial vehicles.

I can attest as well to just about any of the museums in DC. Having grown up about half an hour south of DC, I visited the city quite a bit. The Air & Space Museum was a field trip in school a couple of times.

Your studio lighting is really excellent and it seems you found the right settings and particularly Milly has a great skin tone whereas she used to be a lot. Lighter or whiter. The nice darker tone to her skin definitely becomes her. Oh yeah, you look nice also James.
Fun fact: all the south west used to be an ancient ocean. Even all the way up by wherebi live in south central idaho. Salt lake utah is the last rmnants of it. Salt lake city is like 2 hours from me
I'm sitting at 22, so nearly half. There are definitely a few parts of the country I need to visit to tackle more (e.g. never been to Hawaii, haven't done that much in Texas)
I also said "hey, that was from Forest Gump" when my wife and I visited the Lincoln Memorial a few weeks ago. She didn't find it all that funny... :)
#90 the winchester house. The house was built by the widow of the guy who invented the winchester rifle. A psychic told her that she would be haunted by everyone killed with a winchester rifle unless she never stopped building her house. So it's a crazy house with stairs leading nowhere, secret passages, doors that open to 3 story drops, etc. It's well worth going on the tour.
Florida in August is really hot and it sometimes rains at five o'clock every day of the month.
It's not so much the heat in Florida that gets me as it is the humidity! I'd walk out of an air conditioned building and my glasses would immediately fog up when the hot, moist air hit the AC-cooled lenses of my glasses.
Re: NASA confusion. Florida is the launch facility, Texas is Mission Control. Everything up to where the rocket clears the tower is handled by Cape Canaveral. Once the vehicle is clear of the launch tower, control is transferred to Houston.
Don’t forget “Rocket City”- Huntsville, Alabama, where Werner von Braun lived and worked. That’s where the US Space and Rocket Center are, and it’s pretty cool.
Just been to Pearl Harbor for the fourth time last month. I’ve been to Kennedy Space center, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Plymouth Plantation, Niagara Falls, Boston Common, Hollywood, Statue of Liberty, The Met, Golden Gate Bridge, Everglades National Park, Carlsbad Cavern, Mt. Rushmore, Corn Palace, Gettysburg, National Air and Space Museum, Daytona Beach, White Mountains- in my home state. Mount Washington has the worst weather recorded on Earth. Also, Mount Washington has a train that climbs the mountain. In Switzerland they have another train that climbs a mountain.
Fun Fact: It's still illegal to graze your cow on Boston Common on Sunday.
Learned that one the hard way. My cow got arrested.
I have been to 26 of those places. My favorites are the Monterey Bay Aquarium since Monterey is my home town, Canyon de Chelle in Arizona ( its magical) and Monument Valley in Arizona/Utah (also magical)
Lots of good stuff, though when you decide to plan your next trip to the US, be aware it seems many / most Europeans seem to visit only a handful of places in the US, with Florida, and New York City being near the top of the list for some reason. So when you come back over here, I hope you will be more adventurous and come see some of the rest of the US.

I have been to Mount Rushmore, Mitchel Corn Palace, Gettysburg National Military Park, National Air and Space Museum (need to spend more time there).
Ohiopyle in Pennsylvania is definitely worth a visit.
Almost everything in the Sanfrancisco bay area has a toll all the bridges and most of the freeways.
Of that first 50, I've been to 14 of them...
Sequoia & King's Canyon NP, Grand Canyon, Pearl Harbor Memorial, San Diego Zoo (I live 10 minutes from it, so I'm there a lot!), Yellowstone, Hollywood, Golden Gate Bridge, Kennedy Space Center, Everglades, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Monument Valley, Canyon de Chelly, National Air & Space Museum (a "must visit" any time I'm in D.C.), Daytona Beach.
I've been near a few others, seeing them from a distance (notably the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge) but haven't actually visited the sites.
Winchester Mystery house is always on paranormal shows, famous haunted house.
Coney Island is, yes, an amusement park. It has one of the oldest coasters in the country.
If you're going to Coney, go in the day, and catch a ballgame at night. AA affiliate of the New York Mets, Brooklyn Cyclones is next door to Coney Island. Baseball, I'm talking about.
You can find Dinosaur tracks in San Antonio and there is a mammoth National Monument in Waco, Tx

We rode bikes around Mackinac Island in mid May and there were snow flurries.

I've been to 12 of the first 50 so far. I hope to increase that in my retirement. I think you would enjoy Mackinac island. There are no cars on the island (except for emergency response vehicles). Everyone travels by horse/carriage/bike or foot. It's absolutely beautiful.
North Carolina provided a breeze for the Wright Brothers.
Ohio provided everything else. 😂
There are two fascinating movies about the Civil War. One is called God's and Generals and the other one Gettysburg. Maine has a famous son who played a huge role in winning the war for the north Col. Joshua Chamberlain and the 20th Maine. He became a General.
Both of those movies are based off of books by the same author. He also wrote For Love of the Game. I would add Glory to a list of Civil War Movies.
I am tangentially related to Grant. Chamberlain is one of my favourite historical figures. Wounded six times. Saved the union army at Gettysburg and received the surrender at Appomattox. Died of his wounds. In 1916 if memory serves.

Cool , I'd swap lol come on over we have lots to see and do here , castles everywhere , canals , rolling hills , beaches , fishing villages , villages , lots of pubs ! , mountains , stone circles , huge manor houses , ancient woodlands , museums in London are free , lots and lots history all around us 😊.
This July will mark the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. There’s going to be two re-enactments. 🇺🇸
When I took classes to DC the first museum they headed for was the Air & Space Museum. Happily, all the museums on the Mall are free.
Action kid just did a video for Pearl Harbor. It’s mostly the wreck of the Arizona and the boat out to get there. There are audio tours and stuff but they charge you like $30 for it. Remember Pearl Harbor is still a working naval base and NCIS pearl is there which handles most of the military crime there. The military also handles most of medical evacs to Queens medical center in Honolulu via helicopter. Most other states rely on the private medical evacuation company Lifeflight which have specialized helicopters designed for quick medical treatment in the air.
I thought they transported military personnel to Tripler Medical Center.
@@pacmanc8103 the military has been handling civilian medical evacs since the 1940s for some reason and they haven’t really stopped. Honestly it’s a good way to train them up though.
@@yugioht42 I was thinking more in terms of the helicopter transfer of military patients to Tripler Medical Center, the huge military hospital near Pearl City, rather than to the Queens Medical Center in Honolulu.
Memorials, war history , historical events and sites are a favorite item I visit - Respect and Awe of our past history on how people lived before the industrial and computer years! ❤

I’m 59 years old, 25 year Police vet, y’all are young no matter where your from, but you have us as well… This greatest nation on earth will always be behind you, and you are always welcome here ! tI’ve been to 90 % of all those places… and it’s amazing! enjoy your youth , it dosent last! I recall, since 1976 was mentioned that I was 13 years old! A whole different world… a better place…. I’ve enjoyed your observance of our world here in America …. Fredericksburg, VA deserves to be on a list somewhere. I should know. I lived in Virginia most of my life. And spent about 12 years in Fredericksburg.
Definitely go see the Grand Canyon. No pictures or video does the real thing any justice. Just stand there and look out into the canyon. It’s beautiful.
Drivers of cars are charged $7.50 to cross the Golden Gate Bridge ($6.50 if you have FasTrak).
Mount Rushmore has firework s every Fourth of July along with a big ceremony to swear in new citizens.

There's a toll for crossing the Golden Gate Bridge, southbound only from the direction of Marin County, currently @ about $8.80. It's free to cross both ways if you're hoofing or biking across it, but the parking (located in an area on the south, or SF, side) can be atrocious.
For someone who has lived in multiple states -midwest to west, southwest to south, I'm surprised I've only visited 7 of these! Can't wait to see Part 2. Btw. The Grand Canyon and Monument Valley are my top favs on the list so far.

I've been to the Grand Canyon, Williamsburg, Biscayne National Park, Pearl Harbor (the sunken ships are the final resting place for many sailors, so it's very somber and touching, and you can see the oil slick on the water from the Arizona still leaking), Niagara Falls (stunningly beautiful but nothing really to do around there), Mauna Kea (took a helicopter ride over it, amazing), Statue of Liberty (I came in from the New Jersey side so I didn't get to the Brooklyn Bridge either - but Ellis Island was pretty cool), Kennedy Space Center (I'm not a huge space nut either but this was great fun), Everglades National Park (fist time i ever saw a Bald Eagle in nature was in this park), Petroglyph Park (there is so much stuff to see and do in Hawaii), National Air and Space Museum (haven't been since I was a child and DC is only about an hour away - need to go again as an adult), and Daytona Beach. So 12 out of the first 50. Not too shabby. I'd love to go to the Winchester House (definitely google it - very interesting story about this house!!! There is even a movie called Winchester starring Helen Mirren that's based around this house - you should add it to your movie channel reactions!!) and Gettysburg (would love to go when they are doing the war reenactments).
The Winchester House isn’t a real destination, but when driving up Cali it’s a must see! So trippy!

Graceland is so fun!! Plus Memphis has great southern culture.
