This trail is so popular it was rerouted a few years ago due to erosion. I remember having to walk sideways on a ridiculous section. It ended further up closer to the falls; now it's quite a distance from the falls so the hike after the hike is necessary. You did that well. I saw a couple of teenagers run over their parents, said something, then walked away into the woods on the right. Not much later they were on top of the falls looking down. I don't think the parents ever saw them. They started to look around for them but never looked up. Good thing.
Thank you for your detailed video. My husband and I are amateurs and this helped us. We hiked the arethusa falls hike for our 25th anniversary a couple weeks ago, absolutely beautiful!
My best friend and I always jump off the trail and climb the water bed up to the top. It can get a little sketchy, but it's the coolest hike bouncing rock to rock and scaling small waterfalls.
Thanks for this. Was at Dry River Campground first week of October and was concentrating on checking out Mt Washington. The lady and I want to go back to do this very hike so your video was very informative and got us excited for another trip in the spring. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽
OOO this is a great one. Next year would be a great time. They unfortunately had a forest fire right near the cliff and around the area and closed the trail down for a section of this summer. But I bet by next summer they will have that all straightened out for you. One of my favorite loops!
Nice footage. Frankenstein Cliff/ Arethusa falls was my first White Mountain hike I did with my wife when were first dating 7 years ago. Nothing but rain for us though!
I would totally avoid walking under the cliffs in early spring. A family walked under it when there were icicles hanging down, slowly melting. One broke off landing on a lady killing her. This happened a few years ago. Horrible.
@@AdamHoyt I’m not entirely sure. It’s been closed since the middle of May I believe? Hopefully it opens up later in the season, but at that point I think I’ll kwa it until the foliage fills in
Don't you worry! I got you covered man! My next hiking video is totally one of the 48s................. Well the smallest one..................... that was actually measured with lasers and determined to be actually less than 4000' technically................ O Well! 😆
Gosh Jane! No problem! Thanks so much for finding me on here and not getting too bored for me to finally get around to posting this! Was more of a beast to put together than I expected!
What a beautiful day to hike a waterfall and a huge cliff! Too bad you missed the train. I think I would like to hike this someday. Thanks for sharing🙂
That is why no music is necessary. It intrudes nature. I've been there many times and have yet heard music in the air. Music of the waterfall and trees are the best.
Adam, that flat paved road was one the old Dry River Railroad, a logging railroad. It was probably repurposed as a road and fell out of use in favor of the current road up to the railroad track where you started the trail. There are many trails built on old logging railroads in the White Mountains. Enjoyed the video!
I know, how cool would it have been to see the train on the trestle itself. I have no Idea. So apparently it is considered a specific kind of bridge. A "trestle bridge" describes how the legs and supports are laid out. All trestles are bridges but not all bridges are trestles sort of situation?
Who else has had fun checking out these cliffs? Any Other hikes in Crawford Notch I should look into next?
Great. Amazing Arethusa Fall 🤩🤩🤩
It’s one of the absolute best!

Ahh yes I can see why it is popular. rerouting to handle erosion sounds like a great idea. That would be scary looking up at the falls!

I’m glad you found it helpful and made for a truly memorable and great experience on such a special day! Thanks for watching!

That sounds amazing! I'll have to look for that next time.
@@AdamHoyt Definitely! It's a blast!

Oh wow! I too was once caught on that slop in a bit of a rain storm. My first time hiking it too! Made for a great memory! Here's to many more!

That's terrible. I'm so sorry that happened. Good advice for sure.
Love this hike! We went Frankenstein Cliffs to Arethusa Falls, but would like to go the way you went next time.
It's a great way to do the loop! just don't slip on the way down!
@@AdamHoyt Slipping might be fun 😬 I'm so kidding 😆
Should do cape horn in northumberland NH
I've added it to my list of spots to check out!
Was looking forward to doing this hike this year, but all trails are currently closed due to wildfires.
Oo shoot o had heard about this. Those are still blazing or just from the aftermath?

lad, u gotta hit the 48s

Adam, thanks for all of your encouragement as we hiked the trail to Arethusa Falls! Glad we didn’t turn around. One of the most beautiful falls in NH!

Nice place even if it's Frankenstein!
I feel like they are forehead shaming that poor cliff when they chose that name!

You should! Definitely worth the visit!
Another great hike Adam. I love the sound. Your mic really picks up the sounds of the waterfalls and when you walk by. This enhances the experience.
The sounds of the waterfall really added to this one!

Thanks for that great info John!
It was still really cool to hear the train at the end. Curious though - are trestles also considered bridges?

Hope you brought a mask!
Never leave the house without one!
Beautiful hike, and very pretty waterfall. I have subbed. I also have a hiking channel, if you could check it out. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
