On the dry soil, place some in a plastic bag and add water slowly. A bit of water and squeeze the soil like kneading dough. Add more water until you get the right consistency of soil moisture for yourself. Works as long as you add water a little at a time. If to much water, just add more soil until it is the proper moisture to handle for you and your planting. Does not have to be wet, just damp.
I have a plan for these, but the other Jade cuttings, I'd like to start doing something similar to what James does on Bonsai by the Sea. Sell items at the market. We have farmer's markets and such in the city. I will be preparing for that during my layoff time.

Stove going, nice. Put on a pot of tea and have a cup with lemon and honey to take care of your cold. Lots of hot soup and rest.
I got an old kettle that whistles, like we had when I was a child. It will be perfect for out in the shop!

Gollum Jade cuttings. If they all root, you can sell them to your local nursery or on trade. Just and idea.
