Can you please advise? This seems like an unnecessary, expensive and somewhat redundant pairing. The Burl Mothership already has great a/d and d/a converters. Right? Why not just use 8 regular Rupert Neve preamps to feed the BDA8? Conversely if you have the RMP-D8, why do you need the Mothership?
Both the Mothership and RMP can function independently. It is demonstrating how to get them to work together if you wanted to pair them. This setup gives you a total of 16 inputs and 16 outputs.
