Fun fact, the cliffhanger for my current PF campaign (which happened today, when this vidoe launched) has the players literally just about to fight giant redback spiders. It really must be an Aussie thing
@@hijinks I actually included the huntsman spider in one of my games, playing with the 'comedy' that they are actually only dangerous because they tend to hide in people's cars and startle them by looking really scary and being really fast. Party dusted themselves off after a wagon wreck and called out to the driver to find out what was up, learned he was startled by a scary looking but mundane spider and were annoyed but understanding and carefully shooed it away. Then a huge drake attacked and the driver kept his composure and retreated to a safe distance while the party just engaged it in battle. Spiders? EEP! Drakes? Well they are dangerous but we handle danger all the time. lol
the "ums" and "ams are irritating atm but will disappear after a few sessions just keep ist up. btw there are no "ums" and "ams if u are in your roles.
I found them distracting initially but by end of session had not noticed them. I guess my mind just associated it with a speech style - like how some people add R's in words like wash, or using words like ain't, y'all, fixinta.....
Don't even listen to anyone complaining about the ums. As if they've never been nervous in front of people. You're a great GM and its perfectly natural to be nervous. You're doing fine.
I actually liked it. It gives the vibe they are actually playing; everything is happening naturally, and therefore, it feels closer to the audience. These sessions are better from a playing experience than from a scripted. But that's just my opinion 🤷

I came here looking to learn more about PF 2e. Did not expect to fall in love with the style, story and players. This has to be the best TTRPG game on RUclips. Hope you guys get the viewership you deserve soon. If not, be sure to set up a patrion so we can help keep you guys going with a smaller group of fans.
Guys, everything about this is so good. Making a very crunchy game so entertaining and maintaining such a high production quality is amazing. For a person who loves high quality audio and wonderful narration, this is gorgeous! Thank you!
Thanks so much! We put a lot of work in to make it look and sound as good as we could, and theres even more we want to do now weve done one. So glad it paid off for you!
@@hijinks Of course! Is there anyway we can catch a glimpse at the full character sheets? As a newbie to the system, watching the game being played while referring to a character sheet would be very helpful!
Been a GM for pathfinder, and a DM for 5e for a long time. Ran a campaign in second edition that was fun but left me with a lot of thoughts, and comparisons between first and Dnd, so I was really excited to see a game of this quality broadcasted. Saw your post on reddit, and... it's great. I'm so excited to follow this, and learn PF2 from a new lens, and also just enjoy seeing players interact with the system. This is fantastic. Thank you so much.
After GMing games for 18 years I'm about to start my first 2E session soon. I'm glad I could find something enjoyable and worthwhile to listen to so I can get a bit more familiar to the rules in motion. Love everything about it, and great post-production!
I'm eagerly awaiting to see how the rest of the story unfolds! As much as I love Paizo's Adventure Path content, I'm super happy to see a great homebrew Pathfinder 2e campaign!
This is by far the most outstanding PF2 live play I have ever seen, and I have seen many! This group is miles ahead of the "professional" RPers who represent this product on "official" channels.
As someone who is going to be playing in my first Pathfinder 2e campaign next week this show is totally getting me pumped! Also the Stoned Tree Ent was absolutely amazing. Also the product and story, players, GM and the whole team is amazing. You have my sub! 🧐
Just came across this a couple days ago as I've been looking for actual plays using other systems after the OGL debacle. I appreciate that the players and DM take the time to explain some of the rules and mechanics as they play through the game.
Just discovering your work. Outstanding!! Keep it up! It might take longer than you'd hoped, but I think this could blow up if you can get past the first couple years of slow organic growth.
Just got the PF2E book set and decided my first character would be a swashbuckler Ratfolk. Didn’t realize how different 2E would be so I looked up some let’s plays on a lark, and couldn’t find any I could get into until, lo and behold, you lot show up. Based on the upload date, I had just decided to get the books the day before this video went up. Meant to be.
That was an amazing first episode. I loved finding out what type of character everyone was playing as they used their abilities, it was such a cool mystery. Excellent story telling and production quality too.
Thanks so much! Yeah we like playing and discovering organically. None of the players had any idea what the others plan to play, which adds a nice reveal!
Just discovered this whilst looking for tutorials on the PF 2E system - amazing work, so fun, engaging and well done! Can't wait to follow this along 😄
Saw a comment about the ums and ahs, but dont listen to them I wouldnt have noticed otherwise. You are a sick DM, and love your characters and voices, awesome episode :D
Rules Correction: The Glimpse of Redemption enfeebled effect does not tick down per turn. It only lasts until til the end of the things next turn then vanishes completely.
Just stumbled upon you all whilst looking up some info on pathfinder 2e. I'm about 20 minutes in and I'm already sure I'm gonna love this. The production value is on-point, your set rocks, and the table's vibe is great. Subscribed! Absolutely bananas to me that you don't have, like, all the subscribers.
Happy birthday mossjaw! Really loved this episode, awesome sound and video quality, there were probably a few rule mistakes but I simply love the characters and the way you describe things! Best of luck, doing my best to support this group
I'm SO EXCITED! I had to pause the video and make this comment after the "sword is the stiffest thing around..." as I almost spilled my morning coffee straight from my mouth. This bodes well for the rest of the video. Right, jumping back in...
Came to see some people play Pathfinder to see if I want to check it out myself, stayed for the awesome narration, great roleplaying, and amazing production. Definitely gonna be following this story!
love the vibes, been looking to get into 2e and this campaign has been a great way of getting an intro! subscribed before i finished the first episode lol
2 weeks late, mostly cause i stop half way then got really busy and just now getting back to this.... anyway funnily enough i sub after watching what is pathfinder 2e video then forgot about it until this video came up in my feed.
I started watching this because I wanted a look at how PF2e works as a D&D5e player, but I'm staying for the storytelling. The production quality is amazing. I'd say it's better than Critical Role.
Oh man the pain of finding an actual play for a game not many people are making content for with a cast and DM you really vibe with, only to find there are only 6 eps 😅😅 looking forward to joining the waiting room guys, having a great time so far!
I love this! Starting with the vignettes of the Swashbuckler and Wizard really hooked me in immediately, especially starting with the Swash's training session! If I have one bit of critical feedback, it's that sometimes (not always) it would be very nice to have the ability to see the GM and at least one or two of the players at the same time, for important scenes involving just that player. I know screen real estate is limited, so I'd get it if that's not doable easily. That's seriously my only criticism, you've done a phenomenal job so far! I'm so happy to see a Pf2e series with good production value, I'll definitely be sending this series to all of my players who say CR has too much backlog and also need some help to understand that there's more to combat than attacking a third time at -10 MAP!
Thanks for your feedback! Yeah we like giving the space to get familiar with the characters. We find it gets everyone more invested than starting with a whole party off the bat! Interesting thought re: angles. It's something we can consider, but it's currently a bit tricky with the setup we have but something we can look into. Thanks for your thoughts!
Great pilot Hijinks team (both on and off camera). I love the concept of the "entrance exam" and loved the way the 4 of you bounced off each other. Favourite line. GM talks troll.... (Silence)........ Did anyone catch that? In the future I'd love to see some illustrations displayed of the characters, monsters/enemies and the areas especially if it's the first time we are being introduced to them. Gianni's descriptions are brilliant but I find it hard to visualise the characters/areas so I find it difficult to focus on the story. Keep up the great work team.
Thanks for the kind words Mark! Glad you enjoyed it. We've got some amazing character art that we're going to be revealing over the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned for that! We want to keep the visual reliance light because a lot of people will be listening and not watching, but appreciate the feedback! Something we can consider down the track.
@@hijinks I appreciate that and accommodating to all mediums is important. Even if it is just posted on you Facebook or discord pages it would be appreciated. Also props to the set designers. The production looks amazing.
Hey Claudio, glad you enjoyed it! We're working on Ep 2 now, but it will be a few more weeks until it's out. This was just a pilot, so we're winding up production now to put out fortnightly episodes. But stay tuned, there'll be more stuff before then!
Hello! I'm so happy that the first episode is finally out. This really seems amazing! I'm saving it to watch with my girlfriend. There are any plans to add subtitles? Even automatically generated ones? We are both Brazilians and want to enjoy your work at maximum!
Was looking for an actual play as I plan my second campaign just to make sure I'm understanding things the same as other DMs. Love the quality of the content as well as the investment of the players. Definitely a good choice if anyone is looking for a game with good chemistry and story
Hey thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. Everyone will run things differently, so don't stress too much about understanding everything correctly :) Good luck with your campaign!
Love the show. Hopefully after the nerves calm down and it becomes routine the number uhms and uhs go down as well. Great production value, and love the decor. Have you considered adding closed captions? Oh and maybe periodically some graphic in picture to show who is who and what they are playing.
Yeah for sure, that's the biggest thing we have to work on and it will only come with practice! Thanks for your feedback. We are working on getting (accurate) captions up now, should be there by next weekend. We've got some amazing art getting revealed in the next few weeks, so stick around for that!
@@hijinks Each protagonist has started on the Hero's Journey. As they are in school learning how to become Luminaries I reckon that an ancient evil or a war will break out in later episodes. You could even take inspiration from the Fire Emblem series, especially Three Houses, and have a fellow student or teacher betray the academy and start a war.
Simply amazing. I was surprise that there is so little views. Btw i played pathfinder wotr (pc edition) and didnt even know this (the tabletop version) even exist. How do you create a campaign? Do you creat stuffs based on the world and rules of pathfinder? What is this massive book you have?
There's a lot of different ways to play, and if you liked the pc games you should try it out! If you want some tips, have a look on the Pathfinder2e subreddit for advice, or you can join our discord server - theres a bunch of friendly people in there that can help :) discord.gg/8BaNWvXJtv
This is really good, just in terms of table players quality. Lots of game tables that decide to start streaming episodes don't understand how important an element of charisma and social connectivity is, its a watching experience after all - not to mention just how important these things are at making a TTRPG table better in general, for a first episode on a small scale this is exemplary. I am just getting into Pathfinder now, very late, even though it was initially what drew me to TTRPGs many years ago. This has thus been good to help get some idea of how the system might work. Even though the episode count seems sparse and spread out, I would say this makes it more compelling to follow-up on as it isn't a truly monumental task to catch up. I hope its still going, because I think I might start becoming a more regular viewer if so. Also, Australia, woo. Don't see much of that online, especially for TTRPGs (goodness finding a game downunda is a nightmare). Feeling connected with my fellow Aussies thanks to Deerstalker pictures and now Hijinks as well. Really cool to see.
Hey, always glad to have some more Aussie support! Thank you for the kind words, I hope you enjoy it and stick around. We're a small team and have had production difficulties, but we're doing out best to make a show worth watching! We'll definitely be continuing and hoping to do some exciting things this year. Welcome!
I came in with moderate expectations based off the prior videos and they were definitely greatly exceeded! Out of curiosity, what level did you folks start at? I was also wondering if you plan on sticking with theater of the mind the whole show or if battle maps will make an appearance?
Glad you enjoyed it! Starting at level 1, but still a lot you can do at level 1 in PF2! At the moment we wont be using minis and maps. We want to keep it accessible to people who aren't sitting down to watch it or through podcasts etc. It also means we can be fast and flexible with when we want to create an encounter situation. Also, producing high quality terrain is quite intensive for something like this, so it would be a bit of a stretch goal anyway. Other shows or specials may feature some though, if we get the resources :) thanks for your interest!
I like this a lot! PF2e really needs some very well produced play content like this! My only gripe is the constant 'Umm'ing, but that's more than expected for a pilot episode!
Yeah getting more confident on camera is definitely our biggest thing to work on - will just come with practice! Hope its not too much of a dealbreaker for now! Thanks for your feedback 🤗
Congratulations, I found it very cool and very immersive. The part of the sailors singing was the best!!! I would like to know in which scenario are you playing? Is it a scenario that you created?
@@hijinks I will follow your adventures. I love Pathfinder 2E. A request: It would be good if you put subtitles in your videos, in English, because it would facilitate the translation into other languages later, including Portuguese.

It's the government, they are supressing our views. Our only choice is to overthrow it and form a free state of Hijinks.
@@hijinks understandable, if the government is known for anything, its a lack of hijinks
Hi, great roleplaying, guys. Strong characters and an excellent DM. Most importantly, great humour! When will the story continue?
Hey Claudio, glad you enjoyed it! We're working on Ep 2 now, but it will be a few more weeks until it's out. This was just a pilot, so we're winding up production now to put out fortnightly episodes. But stay tuned, there'll be more stuff before then!
Hello! I'm so happy that the first episode is finally out. This really seems amazing! I'm saving it to watch with my girlfriend.
There are any plans to add subtitles? Even automatically generated ones? We are both Brazilians and want to enjoy your work at maximum!
Hello yes! We are working on English captions now, maybe check back in a week if I dont update you here first! Thanks for your interest
Auto captions are here in case you haven't checked back yet c: And I'm a fellow Brazilian about to watch this with my gf and a friend! haha
@@GeeGe. Valeu pelo aviso, cara! Vou assistir com a gatinha esse fim de semana! :D
As a french speaker it took me a moment to realize what it was when the swashbuckler used Bon Mot, XD
😂😂 We are so sorry for this butchering. We address it in episode 7!
the spider discussion was so Australian, love it.
If people didn't know we were Aussie before, they did after that!
I'm super late but this is genuinely incredible
I was looking for 3 things. PF2, 3 PCs, and good mics. And I found it :) fantastic GM too.
I just found this after Transferring to Pathfinder 2E and this gives me Studio Ghibli vibes and I love it.
@@hijinks Have some house rules we go by but nice to see others doing things similarly for comparison!
@@hijinks Awesome to hear that is all already in works. Was going to stick around anyway, really liking the story so far :D
This is a good start. There's a lot of potential. Can't wait to see how these characters become heroes.
Yeah, don't really know how that's going to happen... but guess we'll find out!
Oh no they've already solved the whole plot! Back to the writer's room!
You were worried about your nerves? My friend, you are an excellent GM.
Welcome!
congrats on getting things rolling! Hoping life doesn't interrupt y'all. :)
I hope so too!
I'm getting some heavy Neil from the young one's energy from that ent hahahaha
Damn that's a throwback aha
My journey begins here
~sits and watches~
Really enjoyed this. Hoping for more soon.
Glad you liked it!
Awesome. Looking forward to the next one.
Glad you enjoyed it Eduardo! This is an original setting/story for this campaign.
@@hijinks I will follow your adventures. I love Pathfinder 2E. A request: It would be good if you put subtitles in your videos, in English, because it would facilitate the translation into other languages later, including Portuguese.
We're working on them right now and will have them up soon! Thanks!
Man, I'm hooked.
