You can really tell how sincere his words are. Also lucky to have fans that understand completely and know he actually means it. Even though I may not be a fan of his, it's easy to read someone whether they mean something or not. I myself wouldn't have entirely blamed him for saying it, yes it is commonly said, before I'd used to say it too thinking it only meant "Stupid" because everyone said the word but know I understand. He's a good person for being allowed to listen and be educated by others.
When I first heard that term in the song I was surprised and I'm glad Black Roses helped him understand. This helps me a lot too because Moon was ruined for me for a while and I didn't like listening to it because of the use of the r-word after a while. But this might get me back into listening to it with this in mind. Good for Woosung for acknowledging this and apologizing 🙏
Yeah same. I was so surprised and shocked then I first heard the word in his song. I even had to look it up, if I listened right, because English isn't my first language. I didn't know how to feel about Woosung, but now I can listen to him again with a good feeling. The only reason I found out retarded was a "bad" word was through social media. I never grew up being told it's bad. Kids would say it left and right like the words stupid and dumb. It was never a bad word.
I want to say thank you. My little sister had Down's Syndrome and suffered because of the prejudice of ableism in our society. As soon as she was born, when I was only seven, that word became taboo in my life. Anyone joking around, calling people that word, would get a little lesson from me on its meaning. This has followed me my entire life, even after my sister passed away. It makes me livid that people are still using it. I have had to jump down my 25 yo son's throat lately to remind him (and for him to remind his friends) that word is forbidden in our home. Woosung is a very good man for apologizing publically the way he did, and I appreciate it very much. 💜

Im like him,, im british and growing up it was so common for people to use. like people used it all the time just like the word 'idiot'and we were never taught other wise; never being educaed about the fact that its a slur until literally november 2020. like in western countries its so common for people to use it without meaning harm to affected groups not realsing what it actually means but THANKFULLY i am educated now just like he is, i rlly dont think he was ever at fault here (i mean didnt mean any harm or offense) so im so happy with the way the fandom dealt with itttt :))

Tbh I'm 22, i never knew this word was problematic until like 2019/2020 because people on Twitter cancelled some celebrity for using It, to me It was the same as idot, stupid since everybody in France uses It like that
put your hand up if you called all your friends and siblings this in middle school. One day my mom yelled at me and I was "BUT EVERYONE USES IT!" and after that I stopped when she went into detail I was like "Oh crap" It was a super common thing at my school.

Honestly, a lot of slurs have been used as normal words a long time back, even though those words can evolve into slurs. Woosung had always been a supportive person, so it threw me off realizing what he was saying there. There are so many other ableist words that are still pretty normalized and it is a CHOICE not to educate yourselves about it. At least he listened. He didn’t need to apologize. It’s also his song. Don’t like it, don’t listen. He didn’t mean it the way taken by the few. Also yes, when we were kids people didn’t self censor. Well for me as a Belgian it’s quite obvious that this word isn’t exactly a nice word to say. Retarded finds its origin in the French language. Retarder= to delay, which not only means the delay in time but also the delay of a person’s mental responsiveness. So using this word is both offensive and disrespectful. Please be thoughtful about the words you use when you don’t really know their significance. Thank you. Greetings from Germany/ Belgium
Plus I’m pretty Sure it was meant to be Offensive to the person he’s talking about. Why feel offended over Nonsense. It should Only be offensive to people who doesn’t fit the description.
I know that I don't really have any say in this because this doesn't effect/apply to me (if that makes sense) but I hear teens my age use it all the time when they're calling their friends stupid. I doubt everyone is like this but most of my friends/ the people I know only use it when they're talking to people they're really close to and would never say it to someone if they thought it would offend them. I don't think anyone would/should go around and get offended by someone calling their best friend that is the friend isn't effected in any negative way by it. But that's just my opinion (Sorry, this got long)
@@winwinsonelineinregular3603 like you said, you have no say in this. it's literally like the n word. for example, if a white person greeted their white friend by saying "hey my nigga" (im black btw) , you'd find it inappropriate right? even tho the friend isn't black so they wouldn't be offended by that word. it's literally the same logic as yours. you shouldn't say it, whether you meant it as an offense or not, if you're not black
the word is retard/retarded - for people in the comments who don't know what's the r-word . it's actually used as term to describe people who are mentally-slow in development but more often now it's used as an insult by people & it came to a point where it's very less used for medical purposes and used more as an insult . so just be mindful when using it in context.
Retard in hungarian is 'retardált' (means exactly the same thing) which is not a bad word at all here. We actually use it a lot instead of 'mentally ill' for example.. It's a word which contains all of the speciall needs people like deaf or handicap people and this word is def not worse than the other, we use it in text books too, sometimes people use this word to curse but it's like asking someone 'are you deaf?' when they don't hear something.. This is why we don't think about zhis word as something bad Because of this, I used to say 'retard' quite often in english too and I never seemed to realise that it's a bad word... Is it actually bad or people are just sensitive? It's a honest question, don't come at me.. Please only answer if you or someone you know is in special need, do they mind if we use this word?
Yuph i was really shocked when i heard the song, is good to know that he's sorry couse we have been there once, we were (in one point in our lives) stupid :v

He's a good person for being allowed to listen and be educated by others.
i love him
When I first heard that term in the song I was surprised and I'm glad Black Roses helped him understand. This helps me a lot too because Moon was ruined for me for a while and I didn't like listening to it because of the use of the r-word after a while. But this might get me back into listening to it with this in mind.
I can relate to him a little bit tho, he's not far from my age and growing up it was a term used very loosely until I learned as I got older how bad it is.
I never knew this word before until the day I learned this word because I read somewhere that it is a slur and I thought that everybody knew that it was bad, because I instantly learned it as a really bad word, that's why I was especially shocked that Woosung used it.
sorry I'm not very good at English but is the r word you're talking about is "bitch"?
@@jasminewilson1721 no it's a derogatory term for people with disabilities. It's in the chorus
That’s great he apologize and yes there were alot of words back then n growing up. You hear it everywhere. But you learn. He apologized n that was great of him.
I didn’t know the word was a bad word either. Kids at school used it a lot like stupid and dumb. It’s really annoying how this is normal for kids to say, or at least until ten years ago?
I also feel bad for sam he made a whole song and then used the word and he didn't know it was offensive to some ppl 😭 and now he don't want to like his own song that he worked hard on
So what should of researched
Ikrrr like he worked so hard on it and it's a rlyyy good song. Man I feel bad for him

I really feel you on this. 'Moon' is also my favorite of the album. It's just so unfortunate that he happened to use a word that isn't as well-known for being a taboo slur. There are many who are aware, but also many who aren't...

I love you sam
the song is so good but whenever that word is sang I’m so uncomfortable. I was worried that he didn’t care but I’m really glad he learned the history and apologized💓
I used to use this word all the time until someone told me what it actually meant.. I don't use it anymore.
I'm loving him more 💖
He really did stop the music and straight up apologized. We all make mistakes but not everyone chooses to learn from it. I look up to Woosung so much 👍
I’m really glad he educated himself and his fans did a great job at correcting him.
A friendly reminder for everyone, the disability community is the only community anyone can become part of at any give second.

I knew it's offensive but didn't know it's that controversial because it's being used a lot, didn't know it's a slur.
Woosung actually educated me thru this vid lol.
It's my first time knowing that there's something like this like r word. Just moments ago I found out what is r word. In my country we can say that word like people speak that word but I'm not gone use it hear bcoz I found people don't like it. U found something new.
Okay I had no idea that r word is a slur. I never used it but heard it here and there and didn’t think much of it. I’m glad I found out.
Tbh I'm 22, i never knew this word was problematic until like 2019/2020 because people on Twitter cancelled some celebrity for using It, to me It was the same as idot, stupid since everybody in France uses It like that
Respect dude :)
put your hand up if you called all your friends and siblings this in middle school. One day my mom yelled at me and I was "BUT EVERYONE USES IT!" and after that I stopped when she went into detail I was like "Oh crap" It was a super common thing at my school.
whatever it was Lazy by woosung the rose has a special place in my heart periodttt
Actually it's not his fault alone.
Aren't there managers who should make sure that things like that doesn't happen????
I'm sorry for him that he had to deal with all the backlash.....
And that because of this, he isn't able to like his favorite song anymore......
Honestly, a lot of slurs have been used as normal words a long time back, even though those words can evolve into slurs. I thought that the r-word simply meant “stupid” or “dumb” and I didn’t know how offensive it was until I was 13 (when Jaemin’s ableism scandal came up).
But I am glad he educated himself, and realized his mistake.
That sucks cuz it's my favorite song too
Pues a mi me encanta esta canción tal y como es, de hecho me encanta q se suelte una que otra palabrota en sus canciones 🤣😂. El que no le guste que no la escuche. The Rose, WooSung los amo💯❤️🥀

I wish he would change the word bc Moon was my favorite song from the album too but I don’t listen to it at all bc of that word :( but it’s not his fault. Very responsible of him. I just discovered him like 2 days ago and he’s close to being an ult
I'd argue "handicapped" is also kinda ableist, but...
I'm glad he acknowledged this bcs the song made me really uncomfy and I was disappointed when I listened to it. Woosung had always been a supportive person, so it threw me off realizing what he was saying there. There are so many other ableist words that are still pretty normalized and it is a CHOICE not to educate yourselves about it. At least he listened. I do hope not only the slurs but also the MENTALITY changes here.
I love Woosung and I am going to keep my hopes up for a possitive change and growth from this experience. But pls, take this as an example to be more conscious abt what your words and actions, especially as privileged neurotypical ppl. :/
Damn tbh I also didn't know bout that word being offensive until I found out bout his song, like him even it was used alotttt in my highschool days and Im not sure but I think many in my community aren't aware of it.
He’s true when was a little younger maybe 2-3 years ago everyone would say the r slur on a daily basis as another word for ‘stupid’ without actually understanding the meaning of the word I have obviously learnt why I cant say it and that it’s not an acceptable word
my mom calls me that everyday...
The song got my attention bcoz of that word. I was like 'wow that threw me off guard' and find myself searching for the lyrics. Now I'm addicted to it.
It's kinda sexy 😅

I'm not sure how that's offensive but props to Sammy for apologizing.
It’s offensive because it is a word used against people with disabilities which describes us as stupid and less then.... look up the definition..
@@frog5890 I wish people understood this. I hate the word so much.
It originally wasn’t even a bad thing, it was a medical term for a disability but people started to use it to be synonymous with stupid or dumb in a degrading way and they literally had to change the medical term because of it so it’s not a great word to use
@@nevadawalker850 In that past when it was used that way it was still used in a way to generalize and degrade those people. its like how words like mongrel used to be medical terms to describe a person with downsyndrome. yes it was a medical term but it was used by doctors even as a negative thing so

I still like the song :p
i didnt know....
He didn’t need to apologize. It’s also his song. Don’t like it, don’t listen. He didn’t mean it the way taken by the few.
Also yes, when we were kids people didn’t self censor. Most of the time, they weren’t used against people in serious ways. Obviously some people meant it but they’d still be using it. Why put someone else’s intentions on another person. People also ruined his favourite song. Nice😒
How he meant it is what matters. Stop putting your thoughts and feelings on other people and get back to where we try to understand what someone meant without putting words in their mouths, or someone else’s intentions on their shoulders.
It was always been and always be a bad word who people normalized that change on time, its a portion of our culture that happens.
Its out of the way of us be in control of that its how society drives itself.
Honestly it's not even considered a slur in daily life in the uk for me except on the internet and it's something I said when calling someone stupid but I can see why it's offensive. The r word is a medical term , so if you're using it for medical research or purpose then it's fine ig . Idk tho...
the r slur was used as a medical term a while ago. it's possible that your textbooks are old so that's why but the word has gained so many bad connotations that is best to avoid it and replace it for mentally hadicapped or something similar.

I’m pretty sure we all say the r-word without knowing and it’s rude to call disable people that so why is it an offensive word
It's a slur against disabled people, not just a bad word. It's been used against them for ages. Kinda like the n word. You shouldn't be saying it unless you can reclaim it
@@BEOMIEPRINCESS I'm really sorry that was insensitive of me. I should've took that into consideration before commenting. I'm sorry for comparing them.

Yo what's the R word????
its r*tard or r*tarded, its a slur used to degrade nd or people with disabilities.
Idk that it was a bad bad word I knew it was never nice to say but it’s literally cancllled now
Retard in hungarian is 'retardált' (means exactly the same thing) which is not a bad word at all here. This is why we don't think about zhis word as something bad
Because of this, I used to say 'retard' quite often in english too and I never seemed to realise that it's a bad word...
Retard was never a bad word, it was the same as saying sugar disease
When people never had a substitute for learning disorders they used Retard
How we've given the word a bad meaning is on us not on him so it's all good
