Looks like despite the rocky start and his own ego, Gary is starting to become a little more respectful early on and is forming a legitimate bond with Pikachu
I'm glad that someone finally noticed that Gary was seemingly the last to pick a starter before Ash and therefore would be the one to be stuck with Pikachu if Ash had arrived on time.
Gary was probably taking his sweet time leaving for whatever reason, he also said, paraquote "having a pokemon professor as a grandfather sure does have its benefits" implying that oak was gonna save a starter for him.
I'll be genuinely surprised if Gary doesn't evolve Pikachu. Unlike Ash, Gary would approach this from a place logic and tactics which would maybe convince Pikachu to except the plan. But we'll see
yeah gary seems to be the type to want to evolve him. especially if he knows about tm's to make up for not being able to naturally be able to learn moves going forward.

@@bacanpancakesproductions6038 From what I can assume, the exact timing of Ash’s arrival is what makes it happen. Gary was the last of the three before him, meaning that if Ash was earlier than Gary, but not the two before him, he’d have to take Squirtle and Gary begging his grandpa to not be left out, is the one to take Pikachu instead.
@@sumeracarnatia6997 Gary literally mentions that he got to pick first be cause oak was his grandpa. so no matter what ash is getting bulbasaur or charmander while Gary gets squirtle
You never know maybe in this timeline it’s Gary the own who over slept and the first two trainers along with Ash were the ones impatient in waiting for him to show up.
Oak could have also been frustrated with this and decided to not bother with Gary getting first choice if he’s late. Remember in the first episode Oak kept pointing out to Ash said starter “was already given to a trainer who was on time”. He could have thought Gary would be setting a bad example to other people and decided to show his actions can have consequences despite him being his grandson. It be closer to Oaks game counterpart with how he acted after Blue lost his championship title.

I really want to see how it affects the story in later generations, in battles where Pikachu was essential

Fun part and I like the alternating. Maybe less on Gary and more on Ash as its his what if.
How about, for the future, what if Damien turned good? Like a slow burn from when we see him running away and his development? I can explain more if anyone wants to know.
What are your predictions for part 2?
I am thinking ash might get bulbasaur and charmander though and keep krabby too squirtle well he has one and there are multiple reasons how he can't get him without team rocket so yeah maybe they might get him who knows
He should get Charmander and Bulbasaur and maby Squirtle but when is the new part?
Well I see two ways this can go, one Pickachu might not evolve and it shows that Gary might be starting to trust him. Or two he evolves him and be will feel betrayed and run from Gary.
As for Ash I can see him getting to Bulbasaur and Charmander just fine. But I don’t see him getting Squirtle though. Ash already has one and seem a bit redundant to get two of them. Though maybe Ash’s becomes an honest member of the Squirtle Squad.
This is just a thought, but maybe in this story since Ash’s timing is clearly different then maybe he meets up with the other two trainers from pallet town and they form a trio. Maybe bring in Leaf/Green into the story

It makes sense that Gary would get Pikachu since in the original Gary was the last one to get a official kanto starter. Him being in the lad when Ash was leaving. Sou i imagen that for this what if either Ash gets there before Gary. Or Gary gets to the lad after Ash.

Even though it's the same Pikachu, I wouldn't mind if Gary evolved it but I think would wait until he was ready or be special and have it evolve into an Alolan one if thos series continues differently.

I was really busy and couldn’t watch this when it premiered but I’m happy I waited for the weekend to watch it with a clear head. I kid you not this is the best what if Ash woke up on time I’ve seen on RUclips and I really love that you’re basically telling 2 stories by showing us Gary’s journey as well

It's going to be interesting to see if Gary firces his starter to evolve. Would Gary be able to work with him at all? I'm guessing Pikachu is evolving because at this time in Canon Gary wouldn't think of his pokemon feelings.
I'm also curious in how ash is going to evolve as a character without Brock and Misty helping him train or care for his pokemon. I'm guessing hes going to be under trained and in for a rude awaking for Ash against Surge. He's not even getting the experience from team rocket.
Excellent story pickled dill. I for once have dreamed of a time line where ash gets squirtle as a starter. With turtles and tortoises being my fav animal and all.
Its a good story and its moving very fast.
I hope part 2 conentrates more on ashs progress as gary seems to be getting miles ahead of him.

Doubtful Gary will go through with it. Him and pikachu have developed something and Gary from canon didn’t bond with his Pokémon till late in the show which by then is when he allowed his Pokémon to decide on their own

But let's be honest, Oak intented for Ash to have a Pikachu as a starter. Even if Ash managed to wake up on time, he will still get a Pikachu.

I wasn't expecting Gary to essentially take over the story here, but it's an interesting change. Feel like Gary's decision at the end is gonna be pretty different from when Ash had to. He's much more arrogant, and might think it's for the best

I dont think gary will have anything else than squirtle as he stated in anime having grandpa in business is very helpful so I think that oak kept squirtle for gary and other 2 for remaining trainers and by that logic ash should have bulbasaur just a thought

Throughout Pokeballs and the Regions, Pikachu alone is the shittiest starter.
Man i don’t understand why the image of the video has nothing to do with the story that you are telling. Its like watching a serie while reading a book. So confusing
