    When building a rod, what do you do first? I'm thinking of putting on the grips and reel seat, then adding the eyelets and weave pattern afterward. Also, do you put one coat of thread finish or two coats, I'm using Prokote for my first build.

    • @FishingLouisiana2020

    What type of tape do you use to hold down the thread? I’m thinking of using this pattern for my first rod build!

    • @FishingLouisiana2020
      @FishingLouisiana2020  Год назад +2

      I use painters tape to hold the thread while I am wrapping. Then I will use masking tape on the ends to hold it while I close off the wrap on each end. I cut the extra thread and tape off before I finish closing off the wrap. Then I epoxy over all the threads. I hope that helps.

    When you put epoxy over a wrap like this (where the blank is still partially exposed) how does the finished product turn out? Does it just take multiple layers to even out?

    How many dots did you use? How far apart? Is this easy for a beginner?

    • @FishingLouisiana2020
      @FishingLouisiana2020  2 года назад +1

      I marked the top every 4 cm (on 7ft medium rod). On the bottom of the rod i started on 2 cm then every 4 cm after that. hope that helps. As for how many dots, that depends how long you want the wrap. This is a easy wrap to do.

    Your opinion… what do you think about using polyester embroidery thread for wraps?

    • @FishingLouisiana2020
      @FishingLouisiana2020  2 года назад +2

      I have used it, If you use a light color and go over a dark color, the light color will show the other color under it. just keep that in mind when choosing to use it.

    I would like the lay out directions. It’s hard to figure exactly where you start and spacing especially coming back the other way.

    • @FishingLouisiana2020
      @FishingLouisiana2020  2 года назад +4

      The spacing will be different with every rod thickness. In this case I think it was every 2cm and on the other side I started with 1cm then 2cm after that. I do not understand what you mean by "coming back the other way" if you skipped 2 dots like I did on the first pass, then you skip 2 dots coming back too. I hope this helps.

    Very cool, I’m going to attempt this design on my first rod in a few weeks. It looks like you are doing 3 threads from each direction (purple and pink) and you keep alternating sides to get the “weave” look. Id be interested in knowing how you determined the spacing of the dots you used as a template. Is each dot spaced using the diameter of the butt section?

If I do it on the main channel feed it does not get many views and if I do it in multiple video's it does not do well either.
