      The power outages are pretty extensive right now here in Houston and it's only getting worse unfortunately. We've been without power for almost a full day. No heat in our home with temperatures dropping down to 12° over night. Some are back on the grid to enjoy intermittent rolling blackouts while over 65% are without electricity entirely.

      @@stephanie_smith I understand your problems about cold right now and i dont laught about it, even though your temp right is normal wintertime in Norway. What is the pricetag of 1 kwh in texas now? One tip i can give, is to eat right before you go to bed bc your body produce 40 more heat when u have full stomack, compare to emptry. Use this tip myself when im use tent in "cold" nights

    • @stephanie_smith
      @stephanie_smith 3 года назад +1

      @@janhansen554 thanks you kind human... this a fantastic tip actually!! I actively stop eating after about 3 pm to keep my body weight in check. But last night I was snacking all night long with our 3 children. Me and two of my children have raynauds disease so it's actually intricual we keep our hands and feet as warm as we can. Thankfully we all rotate in front of the fireplace. Thankful we have that ability bc not everyone does. It's pretty terrible what's happening for a lot of folks who have no source of heat at all. I'm horrified at the lack of preparation by our energy companies and state govt. We had empty buildings in downtown Houston with lights on over night along with parking lot lights on while so many have had to wait and hope for their turn to maybe get electricity back on in their homes for a few hours. Some major accountability needs to happen!!

    No, of course don't pour "boiling hot water" on your windshield. But pouring WARM water works very well. No, it won't crack your glass. I've been de-icing my car glass for decades with warm water and it's never cracked my glass. Removes all the ice in seconds and warms the windshield up a bit so that new sleet has a harder time sticking while you're driving.

      No. No we don't. That's why one flake shuts the city down. On the other hand, I've gone to work during a hurricane, so it just depends on what you're used to. Cat 3? Feh. Inch of snow? Panic!
