I have a Toyota Corolla from 2006, not dieseln, 1.4 liter engine , 97 horsepower...I travelled for 750 kms a few days ago and found out that it lacked power in steep hills..But overall a very good carc, comfortable, reliable and good trunk storage capacity with seats folded. My car is white and looks beautiful even in 2020 because the previous owner treated it very well and always parked in closed parking box...
I drive the same for 7 years. This car have problem with the EGR valve if the diesel is not good enough . It depends on your country fuel quality. Overall its good car, very comfortable even for taller people . The parts are cheap only the clutch is expensive.
I love my Toyota Corolla Diesal! 2.0 litre.. It needs the starter looking into to be fair.. Other from that, I love it!.. I`ve own a ford focus tdci, ford mondeo tdci.. My corolla is something else.. nippy, quite and fun/amazing to drive.. If you get 1 they are amazing to drive.. Fun, reliable - but they cost a fortune to buy.. Other from that they are amazing.. The only gripe I have is the boot size is a little small for me.. Having 2 snooker ques is a bit of a chore at times..Other from that they are amazing cars! worth the money spent on them and sooooo much fun to drive! (: best diesal cars around imp (:

I like engine sound. Is this good for diesel. I found this title to listen, i have at work car personal, he go home and work my parteners work. And everytime i seen him to silent to answer sound. I like when 2000 rpm. Is original for Toyota. I don't like noise of diesel, i like Otto, 1.8 1.6 but this diesel is nice. No more hp (horse Power) but sound is make all.
Malaysia got a different type of early 2000s Corolla instead of this one. Our Corollas were sedans based on the North American market body design and they were equipped with 1.6L and 1.8L petrol engines. No manual trans'n available, because Toyota customers at that time were demanding for 4-speed automatic trans'n to deal with traffic jams much more comfortably and were no longer interested in manual gearboxes.
I had a chance to drive this car (mi girlfriend have one) and Its not bad, but one thing that irritates me is uncomfortable driver position. Its a shame that there is no steering wheel regulation to get it closer to a driver. That's why my arms are alomst straight when I'm holding it. Maybe it depends on driver's height. (182cm)
I have the same car and my steering wheel can regulate both ways...im 185 and have better driving position in this car than golf 4 (my other car)... But this engine is bad im disappointed by toyota. Never again
I've recently purchased this car and came across this video searching for the whine noise and noticed your car does it too can you tell me if that is just normal then? Specially in 3rd gear
@@ChillDrive I first hear it clearly at around 1.30 the whistle whine noise under acceleration and hear it throughout mainly in 3rd gear I was debating whether it was a gearbox bearing but after hearing this car doing it just guessing maybe it's normal for these engines

Michael Pearce mm.. if the “whistle” will be louder, more often so i suggest to check turbo. But if like in this video, then “chill drive” - it’s ok :))) Good luck with corolla! :))

Hy, I'm buying a corolla in the next few months but the 90 horsepower version. Can you give me any tips what to look out for when searching for one (common problems etc.) You can pm me if you want. Really appriciate it.
The biggest problem which i had with this car (it’s my girlfriend’s auto) was the EGR - needed to replace it. But not sure how to check it before buying. When i was looking for this car, so i checked the oil leaks, rusts, clutch and all electronic work (like cruise control, all windows and etc). My suggestion would be to take car to service and check it before buying. On the other hand its not a new car, so do not expect that it will be a perfect one :)) Hope you gonna find the right one.
i do not like it, i do not hate it. I drive a lot, so i prefer an automatic transmission, but if car is with manual transmission - all good, no problems with that :)))
