In addition, multi colors of cherry tomatoes which are dehydrated for snacks and tossing into soups, stews,etc. I have yet to find a red beefsteak variety that I really like the taste of, as so many are meaty but flavorless. Question do you sell the seeds of the tomatoes you profiled? I would like to try some of them that are suitable for container growing. Thanks

    • @THERUSTEDGARDEN
      @THERUSTEDGARDEN  4 года назад

      Some. The seeds come and go in and out of stock. Tiny Tims, Homstead, Black Krim are there. Others too but I can recall.

    Since you save your seeds, do you have to worry about cross-pollination with your tomatoes planted so close? I always put different varieties of peppers in different parts of the garden. I have a row of Cherokee purple tomatoes that are by themselves, away from other tomatoes, because I save seeds from them. I'm not sure if I have to though.

    • @THERUSTEDGARDEN
      @THERUSTEDGARDEN  4 года назад +1

      It can happen but tomatoes are self pollinating so it is rare. You have to take precautions for them NOT to pollinate when you are actually trying to self pollinate.

    What about the Big Zack tomato ? I first saw yours when CaliKim came to visit. I live in North Central Florida, do you think they would grow here in zone 9a h do you sell these seeds or do you know who does ?

      I dont sell them. I grew them that year and they were cool. I am looking for more productive plants for sauce. Your heat might beat it up.

      Probably depends on where you live, when the last frost is. I live in Georgia and start tomatoes no later than Valentines day. I think this year I'll start them around the 7th of Feb.

    • @THERUSTEDGARDEN
      @THERUSTEDGARDEN  4 года назад

      So timing varies but you time it for the ground outdoors to be 50 degrees F or higher. And then count back 6-8 weeks.

    Thank you so much for this video. I’ve only grow Tiny Tim out of all that is on your list. I don’t like it because it dies off as what I mentioned. The fruits are yummy though ☺️ What do u think of purple Cherokee? I just started them

    • @THERUSTEDGARDEN
      @THERUSTEDGARDEN  4 года назад +1

      Glad to share. I love the Cherokee. For Tims... stagger start them so the new plants replace the dyeing ones, since they are determinate varieties.
