    Have you ever used a 7.4 Lipo battery on the Wltoys 917? the jet boat comes with 7.4 Li-on. I looked but I didn't see anything saying yes or no!

      If you mean between this one and the ProBoat SprintJet then the SprintJet.
      Why?
      Because in my opinion the SprintJet is better setup and it's not just another copy like this Wltoys version, companies should design their own models not just steel a already existing design🤦

      Hey mate,
      So I'm not sure what the jet stream is unless your talking about the Sprint Jet by ProBoat.
      I love the Sprint Jet much more than this one as it is easier to work on and has a normal steering setup compared to the strange ball thing the WLToys has.
      But the WLToys one is cheaper.

Was curious if you had a list of all your upgrades that are in your boat...also is there any brushless systems that would still be capable of self righting my creeks rapids can spit boats like bubble gum. Yes I think that was a good decision👌
      The esc I'm using is no longer available and I'm not really familiar with other options, any 25a to 35a boat esc would work though.
      Motors are all basically the same so as long as you get a 2435 size motor and around 4000kv it will work the same.
      And I'm not aware of how to keep the self righting, not sure what system you would need sorry.

  • @peteuncle2935
    @peteuncle2935 2 года назад +2

    Really liked the comparison. Really well done pointing out the differences.
    Only thing you could have pointed our was the lack of ability to do spins when turning. That's what makes the Sprint jet so fun, it's agility.
    You mentioned the bad steering set up, and i guess that's part of the reason it doesn't spin out when turning

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  2 года назад +3

      Yeah you are correct, maybe more power will allow it to spin more, or trim it all the way to one side it just won't have steering the other way😅
      Cool little boat though.
      Thanks mate👍

    • @peteuncle2935
      @peteuncle2935 2 года назад +1

      @@rccrazy yep, nice job on the vid.
      Interesting the small differences. Like you said I'm not a fan of that intake grate being more open. My son sucked up a very small pebble with his Sprint jet, and broke the blades of the plastic propeller so last thing you want is more open. Technically it might increase performance slightly with a more open grate, probably would not notice, , but even a small scratch on the prop blades from debris and you are way worse off.
      PS loved the little carry case it comes in 😁

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  2 года назад

      Yeah the case is cool😎 forgot to mention that aswell🥴
      Absolutely correct mate, you don't want mark's or a damaged impeller, that will cause vibrations from being unbalanced and reduce performance, no shallow water skimming with this one😅
      Hope you got a replacement impeller for your sons.

    • @rccrazy

      They are cool little boats yes👌
      They have got reverse but it doesn't do much on jet boats, reversing buckets are normally needed.
      A scoop or bucket attached to a servo that moves in front of the outlet causing the water to flow under the boat in the opposite direction.

    What brushless motor do I get for it

    • @rccrazy
      @rccrazy  Год назад

      Well it depends on how fast you want to go, what esc you want to use and maximum volts you want to use.
      I would recommend a 2435 4800kv motor and a 30a esc with maximum 3s lipos, that's what I have in my ProBoat SprintJet and it's ABSOLUTELY fast enough.
      Higher kv means higher RPM therefore higher top end speed, but you will get more heat on the same voltage.

    Can i ask a question about your HPI Trophy Truggy which i know you like, as i have been considering possibly getting the Truggy & or the Buggy versions. Are you better looking towards more modern designs & more expensive cars then the good ole Trophy's, stay safe man.

      @@rccrazy No i was thinking of getting either the Trophy Truggy or Buggy myself, but didnt know if they are a bit of a dated design/build. Or better off going with more up to date cars, hope im clearer now lol.

    • @rccrazy

      Ah ok, well HPI is good in that sense because most of the old parts are interchangeable with the new cars and vice versa.

      Again yes very possible, can't argue with you on that as I've not got any "rapids" I can test jet boats out in.
      But if all your talking about is power, and keeping in mind these tiny boat's are not really made for "rapids" then I much rather have the normal better steering of the SprintJet and spend basically nothing on a lower turn brushed motor or go straight to brushless like I already have and you got a stupidly fast but GOOD steering micro jet.

  • @lowerstandards1740

    interestingly enough, i got the 917 & my buddy got the sprint jet & we concluded the 917 was superior.
    he payed $90 & i payed $50.
    917 is faster (nearly double), longer run time (850mah), water cooled, & has lights. steering is half as tight & very inconsistent.
    Sprintjet is slower, shorter run time (600ish-mah), no cooling, doesn't have lights, but handles better & consistent.
    sprintjet parts are double the price for 98% identical parts to WLtoys. for example, 917 hull is $13.
    put the stock $13 pushrod & stock $14 nozzle from sprintjet onto 917 & the 917 now outperforms the sprintjet. all i had to do was drill a hole for the rod, move the servo, & change the nozzle. (20min job)
    917 also has 2 options ($50 - 1x 850mah lithium ion) ($75 - 3x 1200mah lipo) i suggest the 3x.
    spend $100 on sprintjet, you get a slower boat with no water cooling & no lights. better controller. $100 on the 917, you get faster boat with water cooling & lights. but no power or steering adjustability.
    basically every advantage/disadvantage they have on eachother cancells out once modded.
    too much weight they sub like no other. self right no good.
    squeeze the sides together to split the hull apart.
    get them in a nice flowing creek with rocks, thats where they shine!
    micro jets are sick.

      @rccrazy  Год назад

      Wow for someone with a name like Lower Standards you sure go to a lot of effort to compare products😅
      Opinions and preferences sometimes trump results but you mentioned one thing that is normally a major selling point for myself and I would imagine a lot of other people, control!
      The SprintJet in my eyes is superior simply because it handles so well.
      Yes you can mod the 917 to be better but I'd much rather spend a bit more on a SLIGHTLY slower model with amazing control over a weird acting vehicle.
      Anything can be changed to go faster and for that reason I honestly like the SprintJet over the 917.
