I have that cherry burst one and mine works great! No microphonics on mine even though , I heard a lot were microphonic. If it ever gives me a problem, I got a set of 57 humbuckers to throw in.
I have the green burst model it is exceptional in playability, came set up , frets polished perfectly, intonated , no finish flaws, just a rattle in the bridge, I replaced it with a roller model. Excellent buy and yes I play on stage with mine , my sheriton is less played these days.thank you for your review.

I just got a natural finish FF last week. It is everything I expected and more. I also have not taken the protective plastic covers off the pups and pick guard yet. I love this axe. I have over 2 dozen guitars, electric, acoustic, lap top, ukes, etc. For the money, I couldn’t have gotten a better guitar. Great video, it reinforces my decision that I’m not alone in my admiration for this beautiful instrument.
Just received mine dated Oct 10 2019. It's absolutely flawless! I ordered upgraded tuners, bridge, tailpiece strings and nut material which also arrived today. Honestly, it plays perfectly out of the box. Set up is perfect, intonation is slightly off but I'll dial that in with the new parts installed. The fretwork is perfect, no buzzing or dead frets. The frets are nicely polished with no gritty feel. Paint and finish is perfect.. Y stock tuners seem to hold tube just fine after stretching the stock strings! The only negative ding would be that the stock hardware looks a little cheap compared to my aftermarket parts but that's to be expected. I paid more for my upgrades than the guitar!! Overall, well done Firefly!! Oh, and the price on these is now $149, but still an amazing price!
It worked fine out of the box. I just like the feel of the upgraded tuners. The upgraded bridge is much more precise as well. I can't leave anything stock!!
I didn't take into account that when you replace hardware is needs to match. I have the es339 and I want to add a Bixby tail piece! Can I still leave the existing bridge because it looks so nice. I want to add the matching reverb arm. This is going to cost $200. I'm not trying upgrade the value but that's my favorite guitar and that or a affinity Telecaster. I love and play a lot.
Can you help on purchasing and insallatio of the tail peice and reverb. The stock hardware looks nice. I want the nickel Bigsby tail and the reverb arm. I rather use the arm instead of bending strings with my fret hand.
I can tell right now I'm going to buy the LP version or the Tele one. I should be happy I have a strat and a 339. If I buy it will interfere with equal playing time lol.

I bought a spalted maple top with semi sunburst finish... OMG... the most beautiful guitar I have ever owned. Plays exceptionally well... out of the box... slight tuning adjustment, and jam! Couldn’t believe it!

Bob Morris Yes, but when you plugged it the cable all the way, it would pop back out about a millimeter. This caused a loose and noisy connection when I moved the guitar around. I have seen the same fault in one or two other reviews. The replacement jack works just fine now. I would like to replace the better tuners now. What brand tuners will be a good upgrade, and fit the original screw holes?
OK, that gold top is great looking, there goes my money, LOL ! ! I recently bought a Harley Benton LP copy and it is a great playing and sounding LP clone, oh and I paid $78.00 plus shipping for it and I think it handles as good as my LP. Nothing wrong with the guitars coming out of the Asia market area.
Happy with mine. However, microphonic pickup squeal with anything more than light overdrive drove me to replace. The bone nut is nice, but not setup properly and while intonation is fine through most of the neck, the first couple of frets are very sharp in pitch. New tuners and bridge added as well. Still for the extra $ I’m pleased. Would love to get another. Good video. Subbed.
That can be fixed without replacing the Pickups... remove pickups (cover guitar top with a towel, pull pu's out, lay upside down on towel) unsolder covers. (you can re-install them uncovered also if you like) then turn em right side up, place some small pcs of wax (paraffin will work, or candle wax) on top of the pu coils between the poles, position cover back over the PU, then with a hair dryer, heat the cover carefully, gently pressing down so the wax melts and fills the gap between the coils and the cover, then resolder and replace. No more microphonics.
I bought 3 different firefly models, first the semi-hollow Tele perfect at first but after a week the neck shrank (fret sprout) - required a full fret level (ok, because I wanted to learn how to do that anyway) it's ok now - next I bought the 338 on gloss black (honestly don't play it much, it's ok but maybe I just have too many guitars because I'm not a huge fan of the big body size) finally I got the l.p. Jr p-90, which is a fantastic guitar - they are all superior to the squires I've had in the past. For the price, they are fantastic for playing out or modding.
What would be even better would be finding where I can get one, as all stockists are always out of stock Even a Gibson Hummingbird is no good to anyone either IF NOBODYS GOT ONE IN STOCK !
I bagged a FF 338 a couple of weeks ago from Ebay, after watching them get these pretty convincing reviews. In my case, NOBODY bid against me & I got it for a song (sub, sub $140, in other words). I'd have happily paid the retail price for what I got though. Some of these video reviews pose the question, should you believe the hype? I'm saying, YES YOU SHOULD!
I bought two of them and one came with the neck snapped in two but was replaced in less then a week. I love these and for the price, you just can't go wrong....
And you bought the 3 colors I have picked out... for when they become available. So I am guessing if I save up a dime a day I will have enough for all 3 by then.
The problem with Fender and Gibson is ur paying so much more just for the name alone it's crazy, you want to compete in this world they can lower their price a little bit.

Thank you for the review I have been looking at these guitars for some time now. Wanting to get into playing a guitar. I have a box guitar but all the lessons I have watching are using electric guitars.
Got one that was broken under the headstock IN HALF Returned it for a refund. Got another one that is absolutely beautiful, sounds great, im glad I stuck with them.
The pickup coils need to be waxed and the ABS bridge/saddles need the upgrade to roller saddles and Gibson bridge. The tuner machines were good but I upgraded all the electronics and the bridge saddles and the selectors switch to Epiphone ProBuckers the new sound is better and the wiring harness is much heavier in gauge wire and the CTS 500k pit with the big orange resistors is better quality and the tones are better. Sorry but my upgraded 338 is now Epiphone
What's happening there is guitar houses are buying them in bulk and then up in the price to 4 to $500 that's why they're mostly always out of stock it is a good guitar.
Check amazon daily. Also checkout Guitar Garden, for Firefly guitars. I picked up a tobacco sunburst 338 on Amazon when they got restocked. I think I got one of the last ones in the shipment, because they were all sold out a couple hours after I ordered mine. You have to stay on it and be quick when they come in.
I think it has to do with the changing model numbers but when they are out of stock they pull the listing. So what you are seeing is normal, just gotta keep checking.
Warning to people if you find a guitar like this marked up more than 140 it's because they bought them in bulk and are intentionally selling them for a huge markup of close to 299 to $400 in some places. it is a nice guitar but don't get scammed.
I've liked what I've seen of you videos so far.. yes there's a but... no steel wool should be used on your guitar.. especially!! with a pick up... a pickup is a magnet and steel wool is ferrous... the fine bits will cause problem... many non metallic polishing kits available

When I was a kid, I had a toy guitar that looked like this (sunburst). I would love to get another one without spending a ton of money. The FF335 is not available, at least not right now, the HB is. Will see I guess.
@@mrlionel1965 if you are in the states, it'll cost at least $42 shipping on the HB to factor in. So if that's OK then a Benton is likely a good choice. I would still need to do the rewire to get independent volume controls anyway. I can see no practical purpose in wiring Gibson style guitars where are volume controls on both pickups control the volume on its alternate pickup. In the middle position it doesn't allow for blending in as much of a pickup as you want.

Why? Did you upgrade because you had to or wanted? If I buy a fire fly I would want to buy and play out of the box.

I bought the ff338 natural wood no paint unboxed it let it sit for ten hours to warm up tuned it up and it plays like butter I LOVE IT

Yes, 0000 steel wool is the best. Cover your pups with a towel and you will be fine.
