- The Fujifilm XF 50-140 is an AMAZING lens, and this video describes some of the reasons why it's always with me.
Also - combined with the Fuji X-T4, it gives amazingly quick autofocus and excellent tracking, as you'll see in this video.

Your story telling both in photos and commentary draw one in to all that is being told and allows one to to fully see and understand the message. I have been researching, watching so many "technical" videos and not one has explained what this lens relays in the "real world" until you, you see the world around you. Thank you!
Wow - thank you for the comment. Much appreciated!
Appreciate your ability to spot simple objects and making them stand out. Loved your shots.
Thanks so much! I LOVE that aspect of photography - finding the discarded/hidden beauty out there. Sometimes I can do it, sometimes I can’t. That’s the way of things!
Hey Jerred! Former public school music teacher here who has been a pro shooter for 20+ years (simultaneous to teaching until 2008) who also shoots Fuji (since 2019). I’m enjoying your channel and just wanted to leave a note and a long distance former teacher hug.
Hey, Kristi! Long distance hug back! How cool - Well... wish me luck on my pro photography/creative journey here in Omaha. And Fuji rocks!
Since I’ve been watching your channel I feel like you have gone up a level with your images. Just really love your work and best wishes for your future in pro photography
Steven! Thank you, my man! I'm trying. I think we're all trying, right? A dear friend of mine is 66, has been taking pictures his entire life, and he's trying to get better every day too. It's what makes it all so much fun and awesome!
good luck with the big job transition! photos and surroundings are just surreal.
Thanks, Liam - for the good luck and compliment!
Jerred I suspect you can get great shots from any camera lens combo. Great eye man! Love those out in the country shots. The crop duster reminded me of the scene from North by Northwest. LOL Very enjoyable video, thanks.
Hey - thanks, Chuck! This video was SO Much fun to make. I was out in the field having a blast... and then the crop duster? Holy cow. I smiled all night! THANK YOU!
Great shots, man, excellent compositions. I find the 50-140 to be magical, like the 16 f1.4--one of the GOAT lenses. Subscribed.
Nice!!!! I agree, and thank you so much!
well done on taking the plunge, keen to follow your journey as a photographer mate!
Thank you, Faiaz! Having fun so far -thanks for following along!
Great pictures!
That 70-200 range is magic 🪄
Yes it is, Dan - it's the lens that made me believe in Fuji!
Yep the 50-140 is a killer hunk of glass. I have owned one since ‘17’ when I made the switch from Canon and it rarely misses a shot, again a beautiful lens.
I'm pretty sure it was THE lens that helped me make the switch. Once I got this lens, it matched the 70-200 on Canon, and it made me a believer!
Well, I’m late to the party. I got my 50-140 yesterday. It’s impressive. I’ve only shot around the house so far. But, what I’m getting I like. That crop duster was insane, loved the wind mill too.
Thank you, Bob! I'm super glad you were able to get the 50-140. It's a truly remarkable lens! And yeah, the crop duster was a bonus, right?
Somehow I stumbled on your channel. I've been watching all the British photographers. A midwest photographer is such an incredible breath of fresh air.
A couple of things...
1) Totally agree with your assessment of the 50-140!
2) Your images of Iowa/Nebraska are breathtaking. I lived in Jefferson IA in 1992. I wish I had traveled further around the state and had the luxury of digital back then. Your video makes me homesick for IA. (But not really 😀)
3) Congrats on the new venture. Just subscribed to hopefully help RUclips pay your bills. Looking forward to more beauty from your neck of the woods (or should I say cornfields?).
Thanks for a different view of the world!
All the best from Cape Cod.
Hello to you in Cape Cod! I appreciate your comments more than you can know. Photographing in the midwest is absolutely wonderful. When I was younger I didn't see the beauty out there in my state, so I'm thankful for photography in making me appreciative of what I have here. Again - thank you!
Kinda miss the Midwest. Wish I’d started my photography journey when I was there. Way more to shoot than Amarillo lol. Love that lens on the X-H2s!
Thanks! Yeah, the midwest is a lot of fun to shoot in, although I know guys and gals who just don't think there's much to shoot here. And... if I do sell my Sony stuff, I'm definitely getting the X-H2s!
@@JerredZ it’s a beast of a camera! Keeping my A9 for a while to make sure I can get the same good results at the track but so far the Fuji rocks!
Come to Des Moines iowa to go shooting!
I need to! I was just in Story City, Iowa the other day and loved that town. Went up north and down to Story City, stayed the night, then went through Des Moines on the way home.
Great video, Jerred! I've owned this lens for several years and it's fantastic. Unfortunately, I don't use it enough. I usually use my X100V or the 16-80 on my X-T4. I really like your images on this outing. Good luck with your endeavor to be a fulll-time photographer. I wanted to do that many years ago but just didn't have the courage to go for it. So, I hope it works for you!
Thanks, Terry! The 16-80 is a little more practical, and I totally get it. But that's why this thing is always in my back seat. :). And thanks for the words of encouragement... we'll see what happens. Life is crazy. I just got a full-time job offer this morning I didn't expect - came totally out of the blue, and now my wife and I are in big-time decision mode!! Lol! Hey - as long as we find happiness and enjoy our family, regardless of our path, happiness can be found, eh? Thanks for all your support, Terry. Seriously means the world to me.
cool scenes
Thank you!
Thanks for this video! I’m a hobbyist and just purchased my very first zoom glass. 50-140. Breaking away from my f2 lens comfort zone.
Do you happen to have the 8-16?
Awesome, Stephen. Have fun with the 50-140 - it's so incredible!
And no, I don't have it. Every ultra-wide I ever buy i end up selling! I just don't use ultra wide focal lengths enough to justify it!
Great video great view
Thank you, Peter!
Great shots, I agree that the 50-140 is a great lens, but too large and heavy (for my needs). I just sold my 100-400 (and other lenses). The only two zooms that I have now are the XF16-80 and the XF70-300 (I also got the 1.4 TC for it and it works great). On a separate note, my favorite lens (for now) is the XF33 f/1.4, what an amazing performer. Good luck with your photography business, you’re very talented and I’m sure that you’ll do well.
Thanks, Enrique! I can't wait to shoot with the 70-300... I'm pretty sure my 100-400 will be sold when I do try it out. And WOW - that 33 1.4 is awesome, isn't it? I'm so glad you have it! Where do you post your images? I'd love to check them out!
@@JerredZ I have “stuff” on Instagram with thousands of followers🤣(I only have 8 followers), it’s a private account but if want to see my works of art LOL, I’ll send you a DM.
Love that long dirt road shot. I was hoping you were going to do one in black and white. Love it. How does the 50-140 compare with the 70-300? I've been considering the latter because the price is way closer to my budget possibilities. I'd like to have a lens with some reach for stuff like you did here, sports and wildlife. How is the gallery coming along? Have a great week!
Charlie - the show is tomorrow, so I'll post some photos and maybe even a video about it! And I don't know how it compares with the 70-300. I've almost bought that a few times because of how light and versatile it is - and it looks like it has great close-focus, which I also love. I am thinking of selling my 100-400 though, and I would only do that if I was going to get the 70-300... so I'm not sure yet!
What gear are you using to film your self? the quality is amazing.
Mostly a GoPro 10 and my cell phone!
@@JerredZ thanks 🙏 keep up the great content and best of luck in your professional career.
Hi nice shots dude! Btw, which one do you prefer to Xf50-140mm or Xf55-200mm? Will you sacrifice the extra milimeter (140mm to 200mm) for aperture f2.8? Is it worthy? Sorry for my bad english.
Hello, Charles! Thanks for your comment. I personally like the 50-140 much more than the 55-200. I think the lens is just overall better, and the f/2.8 is worth it in my opinion. Also - I can add the 1.4 teleconverter to the 50-140 when I need added reach!
Is the pictures straight out of the camera?
Mostly just light touch-ups with exposure in LR and an export!
