Reminds me of when I had a dream of living in a community where all the roads and paths had stone walls on either side of the path, feeling like a maze, except I knew the paths like the back of my hand. I didn't think about it again until reading a book about Ireland and finding out about the Aran Islands and it clicked. I felt a very strong pull to that. The pictures I saw of the Aran Islands looked just like the land in my dream. I have also felt homesick, basically, for Ireland ever since I was little, despite never having been there. I would love to be able to visit one day. Never had an ancestor show up, though. Unless seeing a ghost counts. I don't remember seeing this spirit, but my parents tell me that when I was 2, I came to them and said "Uncle Roger" was at the foot of my bed and said he was sad that he couldn't see his mom when his plane went down. I had never been told of my great uncle Roger, but my dad knew who I was talking about because he was name after that uncle who had died in WW2. I have seen occasional ghosts since that I have remembered, but none related to me. And no ancestor has come to me in dreams or meditations.
It has been so interesting to me, my own experience with ancestry. For the past decade or so my sister and I have focused on one aspect of our family tree-and that has been our roots to Scotland, England and possibly Ireland. Recently, with the worldwide zeitgeist of having hearts and minds opening to First Nations and all Indigenous people, I remembered information my mother shared with us in our young adult lives. Our four times great grandmother was East Band Cherokee from North Carolina. I was having profound emotions about what our Native Americans have gone through-I was feeling an intense connection. I just spoke an intention one day to my great grandmother (4x) that I want to know her. This was a few weeks ago. A couple days ago, I received a vision of her-she was of an age late in her life, her hair was gray, she had a blanket wrapped around her. She was standing and turned looking away, so I only saw a side profile. My heart and soul knows her. I am looking forward to more connection with her. I love the synchronicity of your words in this video and what I am experiencing. So magical!
I found this very interesting. For all my life, I've had an intuitive sense that there was a guide/protector of my matrilineal line. A year or so ago, I read about the Glaistig, a Celtic term for a spirit that guards a bloodline, and it fit. So I spoke to her, and she told me to call her, Grandmother. She is the one who answers my prayers of protection over family members, and she guides me when I seek intuitive guidance.
Thanks so much for setting this out, Asia. My heritage is also Northern European, and I do think about connecting to that old past from my heritage, back when my ancestors were shamanic, and connected to the land and the earth.
