I love the implication that even though someone else has beaten the mod without dying, the devs are still making it harder just to fuck with you specifically.
Just because his strats are "not the intended method." which I find pathetic.
The Devs of this mod will get their share of humble pie.
They are testing the limits of how much harder they can make the mod and someone still beats it. =)))

Advice for the nether. Mobs can only spawn on netherrack and netherbrick, So to make an area safe, you just have to replace the floor. Later in the game you will have acces to something that will do it on a larger scale, but for interior areas, manually replacing the floor is the way to go to avoid pigmen or other nasties from getting in the way.
Other than that, keep in mind the ghast have much better aim. At least compared to vanilla 1.5.2

@@TdLmcwastaken Also your nether portal!!! Move it so that it's far away than 16 blocks from any passive animals (except for ocelots), wolves, squids, and villagers. If it gets close it can spread infection. Especially wolves, which can run around and spread possession to even more mobs (but are harmless to you), and squids, which turn into ghasts after a while, those are most dangerous
Also all infected mobs can spread it when they die, only wolves can do so when alive
Another source of infection is soul sand hoppers when filtering ground netherrack, soul dust, or glowstone.
Nether possession is probably one of the nastiest things in this mod that can totally screw you up.
Nether Possession has been done wrong in so many mods. I once encountered a mod that made all dirt into ticking entities to spread nether through it... ouch.
cobble stone is immune to ghasts! placing a cobblestone shelter around your portal can prevent a disaster

Seeing Better than Wolves shot me straight back to the early 2010s watching Yogscast mod spotlights. It's wild to me a mod has been not only surviving, but thriving after TWELVE YEARS!

@@TdLmcwastakenfun fact: there's a 1.12.2 port (pretty sure it fanmade though) called "better with mods" It also offers a ton of customization and has multiple addons, overall, it's even used in some non hardcore modpacks like Rebirth of the night for non "typical techmode style" machinery.
Would like to see you compare these two.

he cant, the mod is in 1.5.2, netherite came out in 1.16

There is a material in this mod stronger than diamond that came before netherite was added. It's called soulforged steel, made from mostly iron, a bit of coal, and "souls" from the nether and end.
It's actually not crazy expensive and hard to get, but you need to get past the progression lock.

I remember hanging in the BTW thread after beta 1.4 dropped. It's actually crazy how twisted and insane it is now compared to the simple additions it brought to the table back in the day. It's like terrafirma but for people who hate not only themselves but their alternate personalities as well. Very interesting content, almost impossible to look away at any moment.

hey, for some reason when i punch a tree i get bark on the first stage, then only get saw dust on the other ones and no shafts. It doesnt fix if I make new worlds. But, for some reason, it seems to work fine when i make a creative world and go to survival with commands. Am i doing something wrong?
