well... In the 80's it was the "Jazz Cellar", a remnant of a TIME when Jazz acts would perform there, Jensen, Borges and others kinda owned and worked that club till around 82' when I showed up there, It was slowly turning into a ROCK club. I ran sound from 82'- 92' at the Jazz Cellar, Red Lion, Mooses and others in the Lewers vicinity. In the mid 90's they went full "ROCK CELLAR" but the writing was on the WALL.... Rock was fading away and Hip Hop/Rap was GROWING so by 95 or so the "ROCK"... left, it became just the CELLAR and catered to the file spinners and Rap wannabes... It closed in 2007, Bought out by the ABC stores company. TODAY, its STORAGE SPACE for that flagship ABC store there in Waikiki... I been thinking... I know the owner of the ABC stores, Vernon Pai, PERHAPS I can talk him into letting in a PA/LIGHTS/BAND and have a SHOW... for a night.... in the ABC STORAGE LOCKER... aka Jazz Cellar... Memories.
