This forest is so bio diverse. I just saw pictures recently of the world’s first documented leucistic (white) puma was filmed on a trail cam in that very region. All the reports of “black cats” and “panthers” in America, yet mountain lions don’t often give birth to melanistic or leucistic kittens, let alone albinos, so this was a rare sight! Jaguars are the most likely felines to show melanism, and I don’t think that THAT many escapee/pet jaguars are roaming the US. Lol.
