"Hats off to Ben Harper.
ha ha I saw what you did there
And Roy too😁
Amazing. Not only does he successfully handle a difficult Robert Plant vocal and put his own spin on it but he returns the Led Zeppelin adaption to its roots while keeping ALL of what made Zep's version great. 10/10. Outstanding.
its a memphis minnie 0riginal ben d0es great and g00dtime charlie killer harper , the best
"Jimmy Page. . . one of the greatest thieves of American black music." - - Homer Simpson
They gave the credits
And just the lyrics were the same, the original wasn't complex as the led zep cover, but still amazing tho
Dude, this is terrible, everything you said is a joke. My ears bled when I heard this....Christ, play something else, please!!!!!
Ben's covers are legendary.
understated classic zep style, airy vocals floating on relentless heaviness from hell
Now that is exactly how this song should be played, wow fantastic Harmonica and brilliant rhythm section, it sounds like he means it as it should sound a bit angry , poor and hungry a touch desperate. Brilliant
Ben is so talented and versatile....I'll listen to anything he puts out......to jam with the great Charlie Musselwhite is genius!
Blessed to be born and bred in Clarksdale MS and Charlie is a local GEM! So glad he’s living back downtown…. The Delta mojo will always draw you back
aaaaaaAAAAAAHHH cryin' won't help you and prayin' won't do you no good! Gives me goosebumps every time. And the dude's face at the end says it all. Amazing cover!!
Eric Chauche that cut me to the bone
Got me as well, good call. Love those musical moments

Powerful version of a classic tune. Great.
a fantastic performance from skilled and gifted musicians.. thanks!
Thank you so much mister Ben Harper, for your great talent and your talentuous musicians! Just the think that you mind to play this wonderfull piece of rock music, shows you as a great artist.
Fantastic , doing the song justice !
fantastic job of filming. wish i had ben harper's talent.
the quality of this video is excellent! Thanks for posting this!
The video is excellent, but the sound is a little muddy. Not sure if that's because of the original recording, or because the concert footage was uploaded to YT at a lower bitrate.
One of the best cover (playing for change has put a cover with John Paul Jones Amazing !!)❤
I remember when Ben worked at the folk music center. I worked across the street at yale ave market, I worked in the butchers dept.😀
Socorro! Isso é muito bom!!!
Ben & Charlie's AMAZING version of this in Vancouver Aug 23/18 brought the house to their feet!
You can't beat hearing & seeing this done LIVE!! Here's their 2018 tour schedule. www.benharper.com/tour

Just wonderful. Thanks
Nice Ben .....
Charlie's got the dirt ...!!!
Thankyou.
Brilliant - My favourite Zepp tune too!
This. This is my all time favorite drum riff.. so simple and so good
was perfect the original with phenomenal Michael Lee
dude, the sound of your mom' ass when it bounces off my hips is way better.
@@pietrogiosa8322 Michael Lee was 2 years old when the original was played by John Bonham.
Zeppelin recorded this song in an empty castle giving it that ‘sound’. Excellent tune. LOVE Ben.
@@reemclaughlin4260 Headley Grange isnt a castle its a pretty big house with an open staircase
this is a perfect definition for “groove”
My favorite. musselwhite got a set of lungs. love his harp playing
What a great cover!
Amazing version!
Dr. Steve Brule is killing it on those drums!!!
😂😂😂
These guys can straight up play. Great cover.
You gotta love Charlie !!
¡GRACIAS a ti, BEN HARPER!
chills...chills everywhere
Gracias. 🌎✌💙💜💚

I think the 84 people that put thumbs down to this have absolutely no soul.
Ben is great as always
A lot of thanks !
WoW !!! Amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was awesome!
Love this.
Never listened to Ben Harper before, but this was fuckin sweet! Great tribute to the original.
Yes. OH MY GAWD. YES. That was so fucking great
Man this is great.
Charlie is one of the last great harp players left. Learned a lot from the MAN . He could stand up any of the greats . He learned from them just like I learned from him . If I had a Ben Harper to Jam with I could Be rich !!!!!!! HNY
ben is always amazing!
What about Charles Musselwhite, the harpist. That guy is OG blues!
Awesome
Happy New Year !!!!!
Bem legal? Saudações de Curitiba Brasil!
lOVE IT
Let's not forget about the Legend Charlie Musselwhite on the Harmonica
nicely done
Instrumental part of this cover is really great
Charlie Musselwhite on harp
They Should put that in the Description
Hechelo Charlie!
Don't be daft!
The harp playing is epic!
pretty good!
Damn yeah
BADDD ASSSS!
The blues!
Oh yeah!
Semplicemente unico
love to hear an instrumental version.
Lovely..... Shhhhhh
Nice one cover of the Led Zep's When The Levee Breaks!
Righteous
EVER sooo nice /then imagine MEMPHIS MINNI joining the good boys !!? 😍 ilp.
Really? Have you actuly heard that version? If it weren't for Led Zeppelin the song would have ended up lost with several thousand other gospel blues standards.
this is killer
Chico César mandando bem na batera
Просто шикарная версия Цеппелинов!
good ole Charlie, still going
Ben could just sing the alphabet and ROCK!
Amazing !!, do you have entire show ???? , thanks so much !!
I never knew Sir Ian McKellen could play such a mean harmonica.
Yeah now.
Led Zeppelin rules!
this song sounds so much better in E
Weissenborn!
Bad Ass is all I gotta say!
Charlie Musselwhite!!! OMG
charlie musselwhite on harp.Ben harper.fantastic!
12 string Weissenborn??? I want.
That is a goldtone replica of a weissenborn!!
Love the finger picked version of "Poor Boy Long Ways from Home" that opens it. Shades of John Fahey, Bukka White, etc. And just for grins, check out John Campbell doing this on a ferociously amplified National Steel. Dark, grim and spooky in a way this isn't.
John was fantastic
John Campbell's version captures the dread way more than this or Zep's version. Check it out.
John Campbell was a beast!
Charlie Muscellwhite is a god
Dunnett Stainless Steel shells, George Way Bronze snare drum. Cool.
+dunnettclassicdrums CC?????
+David Lawrence Yes. I made the shells, C&C did the rest.
Kansas Joe McCoy rules!!!
красиво
= Dig
Do not forget Memphis Millie and the history behind her song. Black people were forced to live and work on a levee in danger of failing.
Poh Poh Poh
Listen to John Campbell's version!
Charlie Musselwhite badass!
This tune was recorded in Open G, but they slowed the tape down manually. The only way to play it properly is to go to Drop C.
could be done in E.
Sure, but it's easier in Open G.
if i wasnt going to use much slide i would
record a version in E. basic slide in E could
still be played. although i dont know how
good it will sound. the D,G,B strings would
be used in this case.
Thaïtu Bob on drums
How can 83 people dislike.
Jimmy Page is notorious for changing the interpretation of Zep songs from show to show - makes sense that artists who cover their songs do the same --- called creativity
This song was one of the most experimental studio recordigs Jimmy page and the band ever did.. from the drum sound and recording in a stairwell to the harmonica and guitar in some parts is played forwards and backwards at the same time… this song is «impossible» to play live the same as led zeps studio version… thats why there is no official live version any where…. Jimmy page is very select in the quality of every relase… this is a super live version…
@@magmaz9465 you're absolutely right..... see my comment of 7 months ago regarding Ben's versatility....he's not just a blues guy or a folkie, he'll try just about anything....as far as duplicating LZ's studio version, I think interpreting a song in your own style is what makes an artist good ( or, sometimes, bad )......for a raw, gutsy, bluesy, pared down version check out the Danielle Nicole band's live versions...
Sideshow Bob on drums
jojodice7 dr Who on harp,
Mussolini on vibes...
Charlie Musslewhite, look him up, he's a blues legend.
It should say Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite.
drummer ??
Joe Biden plays a mean harmonica
Hey man.. every great harp player in the world calls Charlie the greatest of all time..
@@joshythehand2960 ever heard of that thing called "joke"?
@@thomaspuhringer216 they dont joke about things in music comments. i laughed.
couple months ago they were using MOVIN ON UP Curtis for Biden's campaign and fuck, tough room.
that's President Biden*
Glad he at least paid tribute to Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy in 1929, who wrote the song. Zeppelin never gave credit to them until they were forced to. I love Zep's version, but don't understand why they never gave credit to so many who's songs they plagiarized. They would have been just as famous and popular had they.
Some classics should not be remade.
+Jake Longg
You know Zeps version was a remake?
+Jake Longg hey buddy listen to it twice!! Take a chill pill. We all know the original. Drink a FEW beers
+CR Putnam Exactly what I am saying.
you realise Led Zeppelins version is a cover right?
Leon. But thansk to Led Zep everybody knows that this song existed
