Your summary of the rider's bravery and passion for pure road racing is very accurate. My brother raced at the Isle of Man and some of the Irish road races. He died while competing at the Tandragee 100 road races. His passion, skill, bravery and dedication to racing motorcycles was what made him tick. I miss him every day but I always remember how much he loved to race motorcycles.

30 yrs ago I was one of those crazies on this road coarse. It was very grueling and hard to do but that was the attraction. To be the best and show it. I never won but I did have fun doing it. I did see people die and from many things like human error, malfunctions, animals on the coarse and birds hitting face shields, and some from just being cocky and stupid. The one thing about this is you die quick no pain no nothing. Just splat! I almost did when my bike got the death wobble coming out of a turn at 120 mph. I saved it even though I don`t know how I did it to this day. Scared the shit out of me so I punched it and just went faster. That is adrenalin kicking in. Its a high. That is why we do it. For the high. I am now retired and look back and think about how lucky I am to still be alive! ISLE OF MAN is the hardest and the most intense and dangerous race coarse on this planet! I am proud to say I did it.

Road Racing in the UK is mainly Northern Ireland, but there are a couple elsewhere (Isle of Man and Scarborough) NI and Scarborough all start together, IOM TT is 10 second gap, in pairs sometimes. I was supposed to go and see the North West 200 in 2020, and IOM TT :( managed to get to Scarborough for the gold cup in Sept :)

The truth is - ultimately it IS as dangerous as it looks and many of these heros are no longer with us. that fact will never stop me being a lifelong fan....just wish i could get older with them in this world

The Irish Courses are much shorter. The TT could not be run that way. The Southern 100 in the IOM is a mass start as that is only a 4.3 mile Course (the Sidecars you reacted to were at the Billown Circuit where the S100 is run)
