Hey I watched the series and it is awesome! This channel just popped up on my feed and I subscribed soon after. The choice of different colors for your machines is so satisfying and the pink arbor is no exception. I will keep watching!
It's a joy to watch someone do a thorough restoration so well! It came out beautiful! Love the bright and non traditional colors that you paint your machines, goes against the usual aesthetic! Thanks for taking us along!
This video is perfect! Such a great video to watch before dropping off to sleep. The playlist in it is amazing. You should totally publish the songs you have used.
Never seen a pink arbor press before, something new 😊 Some good machining on the ratchet and ram. We refurbished one of our presses and modified the ram so we could use different sized ram heads on it. Good post, well done. 👍
Thanks. Yeah I thought about drilling a hole in the end of the ram, and doing some work for different attachments, but decided against it at the last minute, mostly due to fixturing.
Too many shops have boring old sea green or grey tools. You sir, are breaking the mold. Enjoyed the restoration process. I'd like to hear what/why you're doing stuff as you do it. I know some people don't like talking, but how are the rest of us going to learn?
This was an amazing video I know the time it takes to make a video getting the best angles, sounds and still make it interesting to the viewer if you do it right it like art because your multi tasking. I enjoyed this and think you are gifted. Would you do a smaller arbor press? I just brought for my jewelry stamping thanks!
Absolutely thanks. I could but probably not be worth it to do cost wise unless you’re independently wealthy. But if it’s important you can Google our business and give us a call.
The workmanship and time spent bringing this back to spec was very impressive. I love seeing old Iron rebuilt/restored to be used for further decades. The only question I have is the color choice?
I'm sure you have no aspirations to sell it. I was just thinking it would be worth more if it was painted the original color or something close.@@VanoverMachineAndRepair
Got to say that you have an ecclectic choice of colours for your machines. I'm in the conservative light grey, creamy colours and all to match as much as is possible, keeps the workshop looking a bit brighter. But that restoration is a fantastic job, thats going to be a machine that is always useful.
So I have to repeat myself. This is such a very good job. In your workshop it smokes, slides and rumbles and in the end a finished part comes out. And that even with old lathe rails or not so new ones. Amazing to me. But in pink?
Well it wouldn't be my first choice for colors, but to each his own. You may not have the biggest or newest machine shop in the country but it is probably the most colorful group of machines in the US. Nice restoration.
You did not disappoint! Never seen a arbor press that big, always like your out of the box colors you use on your machines, was suprised after spray priming, you rattle canned it,but turned out great. Whats next?
Kyle, that was an amazing video about an amazing restoration of an amazing machine! Your dedication to excellent machining practice, your attention to detail and your thoughtful camera work are absolutely delightful. You deserve a lot more subscribers! I remember your shop burned down a couple of years ago and then, somehow, I lost track of you and am really thrilled to have found you again. I grew up south of Chicago on the IL/IN border and that makes me a special fan of yours. Warm greetings and Merry Christmas to you and Monica from Bruce and Karin in Germany.
Amazing job!! The attention to detail is fantastic! You should continue to restore old iron, you do an awesome job and always go above and beyond! Loved this video and the choice of music! Excellent job!! Only thing I don't like is the color lol, thank you again for another excellent video my friend, keep em coming!!
The colour would not be my choice, but you can find it in your shop 😊👍 otherwise it was a fantastic video, and I am looking forward to the next one about this marvelous piece of equipment. Hope you enjoy the press as much as we enjoy your videos. Cheers from Denmark
Couple of years ago, I watched one of those Eames #6 arbor press sell at auction for about 150 bucks (hammer price, probably close to 200 with fees). At any rate, it was stupid cheap, but I didn't have any way of getting it halfway across the country back to my shop, so I had to be happy it went to someone who was delighted to get it. Still, I have yet to run out of capacity with my Famco 3 1/2 R.
Awesome job. On another note I see you have a SWI Traks DRO on your American. How do you like it? I just picked up a used unit to install on my largest lathe.
Um... You should either cover or somehow dim the flash of your welding scenes. Yes, I know that a recording of welding flash can't cause flash burn. However, the flashing/strobing of bright light can induce epileptic seizures & migraine headaches in people who suffer from those conditions. Gamers & gaming companies have known about this for decades. You could place a dark filter over the welding flash to be more considerate of your viewers. Just sayin'...
one of the most underrated channels on youtube
I really appreciate that
Indeed!
Come on pink ther is green to as blue
It takes a strong Machinist to own a Pink Arbor Press!

Love watching you work! Restoring old tools is an art-form and you excel at it sir.

Exactly that’s how you learn. Some want entertainment others want learning.

Working on a big lathe that’s the next one will be a while until it’s finished but the videos will start coming in the new year on individual parts

Judging by your color palette, you must be a MOPAR FAN. 😉
Def not lol
Toyota all the way
Nooot sure about the color….turned out great, thanks
Thanks
Outstanding restoration of the press.
Very satisfying process.

Hi
Really good job.
What is a équivalent metric ton forces of you press ?
Metric ton and regular ton are similar I think 25 ton
Amazing
Thank you

Wow that’s cheap
What is tge blueing process that you use? Thats about the best ive seen, ty! Nice resto btw
Thanks. I have an entire video. I have an entire video on bluing if you want to check it out.
love the color! super punk rock
Thank you
Magnificent
Thank you
Awesome job. On another note I see you have a SWI Traks DRO on your American. How do you like it? I just picked up a used unit to install on my largest lathe.
I don’t just swapped it out. Works ok but problem is when chips get into reader. Good idea poor execution glass or magnetic scales are more repeatable
Okay thanks. @@VanoverMachineAndRepair
Question: is there a reason why you didn’t grease the moving parts upon reassembly?
I did just didn’t show it much. I used fluid film also I guess you could see in on the face plate in one of the last shots
it looks surreal on the video with this pink colour
like if someone just copy and enlarge it in photoshop
Congrats
Thats a real Arbor press I have a 3 ton ?? One with the fast iron stand made for it.I thought it was big but this styles so much better.
Thank you. It’s a joy to use
I’m new to your channel so I got to ask about the bright colors?
I answered that in the Q&A video
Sorry to bother you.
Nice restoration. Wouldn't have been my color choice, but it's not my arbor press.
Indeed
Only question i have is why pink? Your workshop looks like the Wiggles vandalised it! 😂
I rather have old machine than machines built nowadays.
Yeah, it’s a unique color choice. If you want to hear more I have a whole video where I talk about why I chose the color, etc.
Metro chic!
Lol
pink?
Yep check out the other video today we just released
Very nice, Kyle. Bold color choice, but that comes as no surprise.
What’s up Greg. You know me
H Ha! I think pink machine tools are funny, some it will irritate greatly!
Yeah it will ruffle some feathers
Now that’s good press porn! I know what colour to re paint mine lol.
Indeed
Dang bro…..you were kissed by the Machinist Angel at birth.
lol thanks
I know that pink is a color of real men but such a big object in this color is a little bit of pain to eyes...
Yeah agreed
