Medtner Arabesque Op 7 No 1 played by Irene Scharrer - Duo-Art roll

This was titled 'Idyll' by Medtner, and was written in 1904
Duo-Art 0218 was recorded in London and issued in March 1925. Only five of Medtner's compositions were issued on Duo-Art, the other four being recordings by the composer. This is the only roll recording of it issued by any company.
In the early 1920s, Medner's music was not widely known or performed, and why Scharrer chose to play it, and Aeolian to issue it, isn't known. Her performance is notably faster than it is played today, but is suitably delicate.
