Miss Lane❤ Go for it; you have it, that Organic Jazz dexterity. I am going to listen to altoist Frank Morgan's🎉; your sound and style have directed ME to😢
Simply Stunning! NYU Jazz Audition??? This is a scholarship winning recording! You shouldn't have to pay a dime to bless them with your attendance while allowing them to take credit for your amazing performance and ability. SUBSCRIBED!!! Can't wait to see your future video's!😊
@@dudeonthepiano9762 Thank you so much for your kind words! I ended up accepting a generous scholarship to attend the Eastman School of Music, and I couldn’t be more excited! Welcome aboard and I’ll keep the videos coming 😁
@@lanehansenmusic I don't mean to overstate the obvious but, you're leaps and bounds ahead of the game! If time and your studies permit, I really hope you're able to take advantage side gigs like weddings and parties (where they hire you to browse the venue simply playing appropriate, beautiful music)? I know weddings particularly like that kind of performance. You're not stuck on a stage in one spot and you typically make good contacts for future gigs with other guests (just have plenty of business cards to place on tables and such). Great way to get your name and face out there as well. I forgot to mention, it's beautiful watching how expressive you are when you play! People love that when you're perusing the floor. Gosh I'm so excited for you knowing how big and bright your future is!
The fact that my 'like' happens to be a special number of mine, (182), says you're getting in. Hoping to get into the Tisch School, myself or playwriting. Best of luck to you, Lane. Lovely tone, btw. Peace
Saw one of your videos a while back. Your tone has developed in a really good way. Your tone was still good before but i can tell theres something else to it now.
amazing video! congrats on your acceptance! please please please am i able to know where you got the arrangement and backing for Body and Soul by Johnny Green from? i really want to play it myself now that ive heard your performance of it! thanks
@@daavidxuu5735 Thank you! I learned the melody of Body and Soul from the Coleman Hawkins recording and then improvised around it. But, you could find it online or in the Real Book, as it is a very standard jazz tune. I actually got the backing track from the Oberlin Jazz Studies audition website, since it is a required song. I just checked and it’s still up, so I hope you will be able to find it. Good luck and let me know how it goes!!
i'm y11 right now, not at all musical but I want to learn the sax... being a prodidgy would've been nice but I have some experience with clarinette and piano
@@seeninthedark Go for it! There are a lot of similarities between the sax and clarinet in the embouchure and fingerings. It would be nice to be a prodigy lol but you definitely don’t need to be one to become a good player!
Hope you got in and got a full ride I just really hope you don’t waste your money paying tuition to study jazz. If you are paying tuition, I would use that money for a more useful degree like computer science or business or finance. You can always learn jazz independently from the records, taking private lessons, going to jam sessions etc. All the best!
Thanks for your support! I was accepted, but I chose to attend the Eastman School of Music in the fall! I do really enjoy playing the saxophone, and hope to have a career performing. I also play clarinet and piano, and I’m learning flute.
@lanehansenmusic hey thanks for ur reply. I been considering the syro for my Alto Saxophone but still hunting for the best option. I tried a 3d printed Mouthpiece and I was not impressed at least for me so i been curious cuz I'm getting lots positive feedback on the syro Mouthpiece. So thanks again
@@fredfonseca6034 Of course! And what’s cool about syos is you can try a bunch out without buying one if it doesn’t work out. I really like mine, but there are a ton of other great options for sure!

You have knowledge of bebop language. The ballad is better because you aren’t cramming together known bits of fast language, which is oh-so-tempting, but not your best.
