I’ve had strawberry skin my whole life . I’ve tried urea lotion , glycolic acid , exfoliating , moisturizing everyday but it never goes away 😭
Really? U r unmotivatimg me now
Have you tried amlactin? I know it’s another exfoliating acid but that product really helped me
Lactic acid is the only thing that has worked for mine!
Same
What about tretinoin? Or retinol?
I respectfully disagree with the good doctor that keratosis pilaris (KP) is caused by dryness of the skin's surface: rather, it is caused by excess keratin production in the hair follicle causing the formation of a keratin plug, often trapping that follicle's hair. As such, plain moisturisers cannot affect the condition, while ingredients that work down in the follicle, like salicylic acid (BHA) & retinoids, can be helpful.
I saw great improvement in the KP on my arms & legs from a combination of waxing (to remove the hair from the follicle) plus application of BHA-containing products (especially those from Paula's Choice Skincare): this combination achieved near complete resolution of the condition I'd had since childhood.
Wearing looser jeans, combined with applying the Gold Bond Age Renew Retinol, has made a huge difference for me!
I have noticed a big improvement using the Gold Bond retinol cream and using shave oil. Thank you for those recommendations because I don't think I would have tried them before I started watching your videos! ❤
Glad to hear this has helped
The gold bond retinol night cream works for me
Thank you for talking about Schaumburg’s disease (apologize for misspelling?). I have struggled with this since I was a child - no one discusses this! Your comments about the capillaritis was so helpful and validating! i’m not crazy, I do have something going on with the skin on my lower legs. Thank you again 🩷
Good Afternoon Dr Dray ❤
All the strawberry skin ladies unite!! ❤
💃 Yay!
I used Electrolysis
on my lower legs
Effective and reasonable cost.
Helpful tips. Thank you.❣
Your timing is perfect for my situation.Thank you for such excellent tips!
I've never had to deal with this but I have known a few people with it. As always, I know these tips will be helpful to many. Happy Monday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a tranquil evening. 💚
The gold bond lotion is awesome. That has really helped with moisturizing
Happy Monday Dr Dray…see you tomorrow x💙🤩
I have found that using a single blade razor has helped prevent me in getting boils and folliculitis. Also, I use Hibiscrub once or twice a week to prevent flare-ups. 😁👍🏼
Single blade can help
Which single blade razor do you use?
Heyyyy Dr. Dray and all you beautiful people tuning in to this amazing channel!! Hope you have, like, the most epic day everrrrrr 💁♀️🌟

Happy Day to you!☺️
Ok the little dog behind you made my day lol
Happy Monday, Dr. Dray❤
Morning!
I bought the EOS body lotion that you suggested in a previous video. Wow, that has a luxurious and silky feel. Thank you for that gem!
I love it too.
i've been waiting for this for forever 😭
Thank you for the video and sharing tips and your advice 😊 do you know if the vasline lotion would work just as good on your legs if you didnt want to use regular thick vasline all the time?
I have kp and also have strawberry skin. Had no idea strawberry skin was a thing. Growing up I had very tan skin. Spent my childhood in our pool, rivers and lakes. I'm white, btw. I am almost 46 and now I cannot keep a tan. Moved to FL 4 yrs ago and now I burn. Quickly. I am pale as can be. I do take care of my skin now days but I have no idea why the drastic change. Great video!
Your videos are really informative, it has helped me alot and now everyone in my family view your videos...keep making it ❤️
Thank you so much 😀
I have that Gold Bond retinol cream, but I'd been putting it on my legs twice a week for a couple weeks and it made the shaving rash/ingrown hairs on my legs worse, like inflamed and red.
Is it ok to use the good bond lotion after you shave? Or should you wait a while before applying it ?
your lip colour today is beautiful
Thank you so much 🙂
Hi Dr Dray so excited to be here I live for this ❤️
Morning!

I was consistently sitting in front of an infrared dish heater which gave birth to my cayenne pepper skin below the knee. This began in late November and ended this spring when I pulled the plug on the heater. Hope this is a hot tip.
Please make an updated video on pre and post care of microneedling for acne scars
In the meantime, Dr. Sam Ellis has one from about a year ago.
Laser hair removal worked for me, pleasant side effect.
The KP exfoliating wash and lotion combined worked wonders for me bye bye strawberry legs
I’ve actually seen a reduction on my rough and bumpy skin with the gold bond retinol.
I do also want to try Dr. Dray’s recommended shave oils to see if it it reduces darkening follicles, since shaving can contribute to darkening.
My dermatologist prescribed Amlactin 12% use 2x a day. Been using for two weeks already seeing a small difference!
Thank for these pearls of wisdom!!! 👑
Is it also caused by heat from the heaters
Greetings Dr Dray hope u r well n 🖐Hello Every1 n Happy Monday😀n what a Wonderful Vid…. thanks n This is Gonna b so Helpful🔥👍n Continued Blessings to All💜….
Morning!
Happy Monday Whitney Brown. Hope you're well and having a lovely day.

I have some on my arm. Used everything vit B oil
Thank you for telling me about the shaving tip
Happy Monday guy us have a great week ahead
Have a nice day
Amlactin. Helped a ton, amd smoothed the back of my arms. Wnenever I find it at Marshalls, I buy em all haha
Doctor Shah on the RUclips Doctorly’s has a new product called Remedy that he has been working on for three years & is just now on the market. He has developed a body lotion for bumpy skin, he’s a Dermatologist & is very picky about his products. You might know him & Doctor Mayfield, they are together on this RUclips & I really enjoy them. I watch them & you but no one else because I like y’all! Thanks for today!❤️
What would the condition be if you have these spots but they’re not bumps? They don’t itch either.
omg hey! i love your vibe
Thanks for watching
I had laser hair removal which got rid of it. I would really appreciate it if you could do something on hypopigmentation. I get this through bad mossy bites . I have a darker skin tone and think many of us melanated humans get this. Thanks and have a great day ❤
Try bio oil
Does Vaseline wash out of pajama pants?
I have KP only on my arms and cheeks. My cheeks are mild and my other skin care of it. My arms are much worse.
I LOVE the Gold Bond retinal cream but it is very pricey for me because I have to order it from the States (I live in Canada).
Can anyone recommend a dupe or something similar that is available in Canada?
When it comes to saving legs , when I was around 50 years old , I plucked out the hair on my lower legs and arm pits several times bit by bit over a long period of time and then finally I never needed to shave again. I would recommend using a cold wash clothe on the legs after a few plucks because there could be a little bleeding , but after a short time there were no lasting pluck marks. Also, I shaved between periods of plucking. Good time to do it is Winter.
So you mean you don't have to shave because the hair doesn't grow back or at least not as much? I epilate my armpits for years now and the hair still grows back quite a lot. Maybe I should plug as well then? But I guess it is pretty much the same thing....
@@Essie_K The hair grew back less and less until there was none. I never need to shave.
I found out that I stopped having strawberry legs when I stopped applying anything on them right after shaving - no body lotions, butters or oils. I can apply them on the next day but not on the day when I shaved.
What helps with the actual pigmentation of the dots? I know the bumpy texture can smooth out to some extent but the red/brown color of the dots always remain.
This. I want to know to
Howdy , would castor oil be a good substitute for Vaseline?
Castor oil is an emollient whereas vaseline/petrolatum is an occlusive. Check Dr Dray's video on castor oil from a few months ago.
I have kp on my arms and legs, my poor daughter has it on her face, bright red 24/7. I been using the Gold Bond but I notice it is irritating my skin, almost making it feel more dry. It doesn't make any sense, but it is making my skin worse.
Can I get rid of them with a laser? What type of laser so that I can ask my Doctor?
Me who doesn’t shave or remove body hair but still has strawberry legs… I also don’t have the other conditions she listed in the video. :/ I wonder if it’s just there because I’m really pale, but I don’t have that problem on my arms or anywhere else that has hair. Sigh… Guess I’ll just always have red polka dot legs
What about épilation? I don’t think I can do laser hair removal or electrolysis because I have fair skin and very light body hair.
What works for me is using an epilator and dove rice milk scrub + retinol bodycream from paulas choice
I might check Dr Dray's video, 7 ways to remove unwanted hair. As for epilation, I know she has a short on shaving vs plucking.
Anyone notice that the person demonstrating shaving her leg is shaving against the direction of growth? Or is it only MY lower leg hairs that grow downward?
great
I've spent so much money over the years and nothing works for me, including products you've mentioned. Is it possible that some of us have a more aggressive form of it and what do you think would help us? Lasers maybe?
What works for me is using an epilator and dove rice milk scrub + retinol bodycream from paulas choice
@@steffies90 do you think I should shave? I've never shaved my legs before because the hair is barely visible.
low-dose oral isotretioin(Accutane) can help with recalcitrant keratosis pilaris
@@TGreen89 I would use an epilator. It only hurts the first time really and if u have barely no hairs then probably not so much for you and its a lot less irritating than shaving. Epilator only irritates the first time
Thank you all for the advice
Is it safe to use retinol on body if breastfeeding?
Check with your doctor. While some derms say using retinol at least on the face is fine, they haven't necessarily addressed the body. And even though some derms say using retinols is fine when breastfeeding, others don't agree.
Hi
Can you have sebborheic dermatitis on the ears and NOT have dandruff?
Yes
@@DrDrayzday thank you!
Yes! For years I had it inside my ears too. Itchy, scaly and red!
@@primordialmeow7249 it’s mostly just my earlobes. So annoying!
This ketoconazole cream they prescribed me doesn’t seem to help much…so I wondered if I was misdiagnosed. It’s better than it was tho I guess. 🤷🏻♀️
The only thing that has helped my strawberry skin is cerave SA lotion
💜💜💜
I am allergic to fragrance can I use a cleansing balm or cleansing oil on my face to shave (I’m a man)
She and other derms have recommended the Aveeno shaving cream (fragrance free) in shaving videos. Would that work.
Use an epilator device..the hairs will eventually stop growing..
I have no idea what this is! Or what tine it is lol #puppylife 💜💜💜
Shave legs in the same direction as growth - wouldn't that leave stubble?
I've seen derms who say it doesn't matter which direction you shave and some who say shave in the direction of growth.
Definitely does. It’s not as close a shave and that’s why none does it but also why it’s less irritating 🤷♀️
Shoot, throw me a Strawberry Shortcake T-shirt. I'm not ashamed of my small strawberry patches. 🍓
vaseline slug works
👍🏼👍🏼
Consistency is key because if we stop caring for our skin bad things are about to happen not right away but slowly and eventually will come to result not good obviously visible to the naked eye 😅. So I'm saying this because it's important for our skin's integrity. It's not a vanity thing to want a healthy and radiant skin on the contrary it's the most common and normal thing to want 😊❤.
Even if its Vanity, there’s nothing wrong with that. At this point you have to be dumm to not see the value in looking good
Tanning beds made my strawberry legs completely go away. Once i stopped tannning out of fear, they came back! Im considering getting my tanning membership back.
I don't think cancer is worth not having strawberry legs
Please don't go back. It'll age your skin and raise your risk of cancer
Hey doc, I saw a 6 year old video of yours and you looked so different like you are ageing in reverse. Were you having any disease back then?? I am just curious about that
🙄 how rude
@@moniquelindholm1381 i don't wanted to be 😭😭
I was scared if I am sounding rude 🥺🥺
Can KP and ingrown hairs be happening at the same time? I have KP basically all over my legs and arms and even if I don’t shave my legs for weeks almost every hair on my lower legs is trapped under this weird scaly layer of skin. I’ve tried urea, lactic acid, salicylic acid… nothing works 🥲
