    You could sew more molle webbing to the sides where you said you would like to have more molle . Ive done this to other packs i have and it makes it mkre versatile for more pouches , gear. Really enjoyed this video . Thank you for making this

    I have very mixed feelings about this pack. I always loved the Day pack/3 day pack/assault pack (every different name I've heard it called over the years), but the frame on the main pack was always garbage. Every single one of us came home from Iraq with a broken frame. The flip side was I loved the separate pouch for the sleep system, it was so easy.

      Werent the new gen frames reinforced and fixed compared to gen 1 black frames?
      Correct me if i am wrong

    We'll need a part 3 to cover the final loadout you take to Texas and then a part 4 to address the results achieved along with a demonstration of your your skill in preparing ribs.
    Thanks for your videos.

    We used that system during a lot of my first enlistment. The biggest thing I can remember is that the plastic frames were always breaking into pieces. Other than that, I thought it was great. Oh yeah, and those metal tabs that attach the main compartment to the frame would rip out as well. I found it reasonably comfortable to wear fully loaded (until the frame broke), and as Brent0331 states, the separate bag for the sleep system was a big plus. Thanks for the video, Oorah

      i have to say, i had rolled my eyes at that waist pack. but now i see it as an integral part of the patrol pack.

    I put my 2 1 qt canteen pouches on the molle that is on the waist band on the pack

    If you want smaller pouches for the sides of the patrol pack try the 200 round gunners pouch.

    • @renaissancemarinetv3536
      @renaissancemarinetv3536  2 года назад

      do they line up with the odd pals webbing the sustainment pouches use?

    • @magnusdarkhan974
      @magnusdarkhan974 2 года назад

      @@renaissancemarinetv3536 No, the sustainment pouch is 6 pals slots wide the 200 round saw ammo pouch is 4 pals wide 3 5/8 inch inside between molle straps and 5 5/8 outside. It is narrower and smaller than the sustainment pouch but bigger than a canteen pouchand works as a GP pouch. I was thinking it would be used on the sides of the patrol pack or 3 day assault pack.

  • @johnjones5932
    @johnjones5932 3 месяца назад +1

    you're also supposed to put the sustainment pouches on the sides of the patrol pack

    those GP/canteen pouches are one of the best kits of gear ever issued to any army, that assault bag is great especially if you upgrade to the wider straps, but we never had a movement where somebody didn't break the frame and they were a PITA to field repair. also, the original video from the army/manufacturer on how the system was designed to work together is on youtube iirc

    Funny enough, in MOLLE (first iteration) there is no waist pack. Instead, it had the Field Pack (buttpack) from the old LBV-88 system back again. It did get a new designation as "BUTTPACK". It's use was pretty much the same as the old field pack and the newer waist pack. Already attached with straps anyway, and was woodland camo so no redesign, just a new NSN for MOLLE. Which is odd because the field pack had the same NSN from M1967 MLBE through ALICE and LBV system.

    I have this complete system, except for the patrol pack. I upgraded the belt to the ocp current belt and I found some enhanced shoulder straps ( more contoured and ergonomic ) in Woodland, which I also upgraded and also the Gen4 frame which is the latest frame (stronger).

    No part three? How are we going to know what we need to take to Texas for a winter hog hunt? I kid but, I am curious as to what you’re planning to wear/carry on your hunt. IIRC, two years ago, you brought one of your ARs, a1911, and some type of fixed blade knife. Changes anticipated? What temps are you looking at that time of year?
    We have questions! We need answers.

      A Part 3 video might be in order. Unless I’m the only one with more questions. Specific questions I’ve got on the MOLLE, MOLLE 2, the ILBE(?), basically all the systems after ALICE. when I got out, the 03’s were just starting to get gore tex and camo ALICE, and we don’t have much in the way of a surplus market for me to go pawing around in to satisfy my curiosity.
      Which load out had a pack that attached to the pistol belt without a waist belt?
      Do any of these systems have waterproof pouches?
      Why is the waist pouch a tube? Does it have a way to attach to shoulder straps, like the older gear?
      I’ve got more questions but, I don’t want to become a PITA.
      I appreciate what you do here on RUclips.
      Semper fidelis, leatherneck.

    And that full rucksack loadout weighs how much, as it is not something used on the sea. Best
