I am interested in buying one of these but was wondering if I could put nylon strings. I searched and there it is. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am going to buy this for sure now.
@@jeetray11 thanks for checking out the video and I was also amazed at how simple this was and how nice it sounds! Let me know your experience when you get a chance! 🙏🙏🦋
Great video! This is just what I was looking for! I'm a nylon player and have long been looking for an affordable travel option ... This may be just what I had in mind!! Thanks for the tip on the wraps!
Thanks so much for this post. Good to know! I actually like classical style. I purchased this as a practice guitar and my son is training me in blues on this one but good to know that it can be transformed into a nylon string guitar. I have a Traveller quiet classical style nylon string guitar which I love, it just is in my east coast hangout and don’t want to transport it! I am happy with this little Donner, great sound! I appreciate all of the info that you kindly shared, thanks again!
Thanks for watching and so happy you found it useful! I am pretty pleased with how easy it was to transition to nylon and how good it sounds! I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this as well! If you switch over let me know how it goes for you! 🙏🙏🦋
Thanks for checking out the video Jimmy! It’s worth a trip to a local music shop to try one it two for sure! I am having fun with this and so far impressed with how simple it has been to convert! 🙏🙏🦋
Definitely thinking about getting one of the nylon string electric crossovers! This is a neat way to find out in advance if I like them enough to indulge! Thanks for checking out this trial! 🙏🦋🦋
Thanks BB! Nylon strings are super easy to play and amazingly simple to use! Will be interesting to see how long they last… but so far so good! I appreciate you watching! 🙏🙏🦋

Thanks my friend! Can’t wait to hear how your test of nylon strings goes! I am still on my first set of nylon strings and play it nearly every day! 🙏🙏🦋
thanks for video , great work , which brand of string you have used , I did some search and I thought it can not hold the tune on the nylon strings , let me know what is your thoughts?
I am using Ernie Ball… ball end strings! It does take nylon strings a day or two to settle in, once they are set the hold tune well enough. I do tune at the start of playing so if it drifts over a day I don’t worry about that! Hope you get a chance to try it! 🙏🙏🦋
@@stevehillsden5907 thanks for checking out the video Steve! These are dAddarrio EJ32 28-42 folk nylon with ball ends. Nothing really special about the gauge as they are larger in diameter than the nut is cut for. The interesting thing is that they just work! Let me know how you make out with the nylon string swap! 🙏🙏🦋
Thanks for the video. i just swapped to ball end Ernie Ball nylon strings on my Donner Hush 1. I’ve done several stretches over the past couple of days but they don’t stay in tune for long. can you offer any help/advice?
Thanks for checking out the video… and trying it out. I put another brand on the Hush -1 that were about double the price. I did find it took a couple days to stretch in and I often leave the guitar tuned a half step high till they break in. Hope that idea helps… of course I detune before playing! 🙏🙏🦋
I used the D’Addario ej32 folk nylon strings with total tension of 88.13 lbs as the factory spec. Thanks for checking out the video and hope this helps! 🙏🙏🦋
Thanks for the experiment. I have the same guitar, with the default strings on it for the moment, and I find the action a bit too high. (almost 5 mm on 6th string) I might try to make some adjustments, but the manual doesn't say anything about the truss rod rotation etc... Do you have some experience about fidgeting with the action on your guitar and could you share some thoughts?
Thanks for checking out the video! The truss rod works in the standard fashion… the tension of the steel strings pulls the headstock up curving the fretboard away from the strings. Tightening the truss rod pulls the neck back towards being straight. Lots of videos online on how to do this. The Allen key Donner supplies works for the truss rod. In my case I had to trim the bridge riser down a mm or so to improve the action. Moving to nylon strings really helped me! Hope this gets you pointed in a good direction! 🙏🙏🦋
@simonced...I have this guitar and when I first received mine, it had a high action too. Uncomfortably high. So first I sanded down the saddle about 1mm. Then I deepend each of the nut slots until the stings were nearly flush with the top of the nut. But you must be very careful not to cut the slots too deep. Lastly, I also raised the fretboard using the truss rod to get it to a good action height. To raise the neck/frets closer to the strings.. turn the truss rod nut clockwise (when looking from the bottom of the guitar towards the top of the neck) gently turn the allen wrench towards the high 'e' string (#1) only small increments. This can be done with the strings in place, but you will need to spread the middle strings apart by hand so you dont damage them with the allen wrench. Be sure to loosen all of the tuning pegs a little before you start and then re-check the string height improvement after each partial turn. Wait a couple minutes in between each (small) adjustment to let the neck stabilize. It only took me about 30 minutes to complete, and I'm happy to say after doing these three steps my "Hush 1" guitar now has a low action and is a breeze play.

@@Guitarin90seconds Thanks for the insight! My main concern was string tension and whether I had to file the nut!
