- This is my first road test of the electric converted BMW 320d with Lexus GS450h Transmission and inverter. It's pretty fast and I'm very happy with it.

Come have a go next time you're up north
@@JamieJones1985 im leaving now 😉
Congratulations mate, awesome work.
Just a tad confused about the clicking sound as you approached the junctions. It is a BMW isn't it?
Old habits die hard.
@@JamieJones1985 You'll soon join Damien in the unflashey side.
Properly Homemade EV, PHEV
Is it registered as an EV already? Are the ESP / ABS working?
No, the DVLA will not change the fuel type on cars first registered after 2001. ABS etc works and fuel gauge shows how much battery I've got left. The car is still getting the relevant messages and so thinks the engine is there and running.
@@JamieJones1985 Yeah I am aware of that, but thought it was more related to taxation and not technical aspects. So nobody in the UK cares if you change the drivetrain in your car? What does the insurance say? :D
What do you do... Pay for emissions testing too then every year?
@@rkan2 You have to notify them, but they don't do anything with it. They may come and inspect.
There's some strange quirk in the law that state that modifications cannot affect the taxation class and the taxation class is based on the homologation emissions. Ive published the letters on highvoltagebeetle.blogspot.com for my previous conversion.
We have annual inspections for emissions, brakes, structural integrity and safety related stuff anyway. Insurance company has to be aware of the modifications also.
Is Jamie's hairline receding?
@@robertstevens2857 it is not. I still have a full head of hair.
More cars = less hair. Dont ask me how I know
@@Evbmw very true, some of my hair somehow got mixed with underseal and got stuck to car :)
@@Evbmw More BMWs = more cats though
