That's a great pro tip me and my wife are contractors and we work on our jobs.Beacause noone is going to work for your own company like you will so a great tip and another great video.GOD BLESS YOU GUYS AND YOUR FAMILY'S.
You guys ever use Wool insulation on a project?
Good morning papa and mummy
For me, the ideas in ruclips.net/user/postUgkxAfqpMLyFn37qcqUl0FAzqkkycQeXqrhP Plans were a starting point for building different sheds . Ryan gives ideas that allow an individual to draw nicest conclusions into the design and building of his or her own shed.
We bought this shed at the beginning of July. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxe81Bz076USDt6sYU1rDcNa2LwCIKADgB It’s built now and just needs painting. The instructions were clear and concise. All the parts were there and in excellent condition.
Jamie is getting pretty good at explaining things Quick, Fast and in a hurry. Did ya'll give him an extra coffee ?
Yeah he was heavily caffeinated a couple days there!
The level on enjoyment I get watching you all. I wish I had a crew like this
ruclips.net/video/ihowoYLGrSI/видео.html
Thanks!! It makes work enjoyable
I wish I had friends like this.
I wish I had friends.
Lol.
Always enjoy watching guy that actually know there business and know carpentry
Jason - "aren't there professionals that do this stuff?", Love the comeback "we're here" cracked me up :)
When someone imitates (or closes the accent gap) with whomever they are speaking with it indicates a high level of empathy and emotional intelligence 👍
When I resided my house I definitely did a good job stapling the house wrap, definitely wasn't out in a ladder at 3am in my slippers when the wind picked up. Nope not me, never.
Fortunately I didn't need a flashlight, the lightning made it so I could see what I was doing.
You’re crazy Tim buck!
I love the way “yall” do doors!!! Appreciate the walk through.
This is soo different of the way we build concrete homes in Europe. Nice to watch and cheers from Poland!
It has become a bit of a ritual watching you guys on a Sunday night. I am all the way over in the uk and really enjoy the banter between you all. Thanks 🙏
Haven’t seen Arlo in a few videos. Hope he comes back soon!
He will be back soon
Jay does a great job bringing a light mood with his great sense of humor ... and THEN he gets serious and mentions PROTIPS .. well rounded dude. Love the PBB team! I'll get some more CARDINAL COFFEE this week for you all .... keep Jaime 'Wizard' Perkins firing on all cylinders
Doing a stellar job editing Erik!
Another treat of a video and full of great tips and demonstrations…. Hope your week is a perfect one !
Great video guys!! Always happy to see you post a new video
Like all the pro tips, not a lot of antics in this video, but did like Jamies new hand paint brush. Thanks Chuck
I excelled at finger painting when I was in school.
Y’all remind me of my pops and I on our jobs
Getting excited to get to our cottage to finish the Reno’s. 90 year old cottage that had two additions over 60 years ago. Gutted the cottage 4 years ago and now got it to the point where its a matter of installing trim and odds and ends. I had zero skill when I started but your channel has helped me tremendously over the years. Thank you!
Great watching the progress of the house coming on with the fab Perkins crew good job fellas UK
I couldn't agree more with your tip on hiring subs that you can contact when needed. It took me a few years but eventually I had subs in every trade I needed who would be at the job and answer my calls any time of day / night / weekends. It makes every job run much smoother and stress level much less. Another great video!
Oh my , I just laughed out loud when you all were talking about “ talking country “! 🤣😂
Astragal has to be one of the most satisfying words to say
Coming together nicely guys! Excellent job on the double door install.
ruclips.net/video/ihowoYLGrSI/видео.html
Also, those Dewalt staplers are so awesome. I thought look at these plastic pieces of junk when the first came out but you guys are right. Best staplers ever. So far.
Great stuff! The house is looking awesome.
I love the look of the LP siding and am thinking of using it on my own home.
Do people get Eric Perkins mixed up Josh Turner? Haha y’all are awesome !!!
Subconsciously imitating the accent of the person you are talking to is a sign of an empathetic person. Way to go, Jaime 😀
Love your work 👍
Wow that’s deep, thanks
I’m so glad to see I’m not the only one that still does door pans!!! The only difference is I put a small upturn bend on the inside. Nice touch guys. You all are top notch.
I do the same thing as Jamie. I adopt the way of speaking of the person I'm talking to... by the way your content is SUPER! It may be my first time commenting but I watch every video... or maybe it is not the first time...
Glad to hear I’m not the only one. Thanks for watching!
I love the video you fellas make..love the tips, sometimes they are simple and should know tips, but some carpenters don't know or practice it...excellent work
There's a Perkins Bros Builders around where I am in Australia. Wild!
Loving that LP siding and trim! Business as usual, carry on men!
Great build guys
So proud of Jaime for explaining so fast!! Congratulations! 😂
Thank you:)
@@jaimeperkins9606 you're very welcome!
Great job boys. It's coming together. Thanks for the tips Jamie.

Your explanations are most appreciated 👍
Awesome job as always.

Another Perkins video; another good Sunday. Thanks guys! Any hints on the next project?
In the first 2 minutes you guys solved my new tub install insulation issue I was trying to figure out. So simple but I didn't see it and then you said staple plastic to hold it in. It was one of those, oh yeah that should have obvious moments.
Thank you guys.
Wow... !!! My best friend, It's always great. I wish you every day of your development. Have a happy day!
Great content as ever. Can’t wait to eventually see the finished house
Tips are always awesome
We all do it Jamie...master communicators 👍
Always good information
You guys work in some beautiful spots
Great channel. I will always learn something from you guys in my a fun way!
ruclips.net/video/ihowoYLGrSI/видео.html
Since y’all like protips and all : cameras “tilt” up and down and “pan” left and right. They don’t pan down unless you live is a sideways world 😉. Keep up the good work. Love y’all’s channel and have learned a lot!
Cool cool! Thanks for the pro tip!
love the LP stuff. it blew my mind when i found out the make an 1-1/8 plywood lol thats some serious subfloor
Oh sweet! Another one to watch!
Learning a lot from you guys as we build our house! Great vids!
Another great presentation..I noticed that you kept the building paper(so to speak)over the windows to keep out the bad weather..Smart move..Also I sure would like to know how Jaimie keeps his left hand helper clean..Again your shows always impress me with all the knowledge and humor...Thanx boys
You guys do such a great job! I'm getting my builders license up here in Canada soon as well! Wish I could find a crew like yours...
Ladies can own businesses you subcontract as well! It's not just a man's game...love your channel and never miss a video!
The place is looking good guys! I think there's a lot to be said for owners of the business who are on site and available, same goes for you guys, that's why your jobs turn out great and problems are quickly dealt with
Love the content here on every upload learn alot from u guys
Thanks Christopher!
I usually get annoyed by RUclips sponsors and ads, but you guys so such a great job showing the benefits of the products you endorse that I don't mind it at all. I'm sold on LP and sashco on my upcoming project.
These videos contain awesome content as well as humor. My wife made me stop replaying that part at 7:09, LOL!!!!
Dear Perkins builder brothers, (or Jamie because I'm pretty sure you're reading all the comments, no punt intended to you, Erik). Just want to say thank you for all your fun content and the knowledge you teach other builders, homeowners, and DIY folks. I learned a lot over the last year since watching you guys and projects don't seem as daunting anymore. One question, which you maybe have gotten before so I apologize for the redundancy, would you guys ever consider doing a timber frame (as in post and beam) construction? The current content that is out there is sparse and not well explained but you guys do always do such a good job in explaining things so I thought it would be cool if you may be in the future build a smallish timber frame house. Anyway thanks, guys!
Brilliant 🏴🏴🏴
haha Snells Beach is all the way in New Zealand. I've worked with the Perkins Bros. Builders before. Good guys.
Enjoyed the video
Lexel is great stuff ! So is NP1. Give a try sometime. Especially in water prone areas. Ie: flashing corners and such
Another great video 👍🏼
“Purdy smart! And it’s required by code!” Lol!
I love y’all’s videos and have been watching a ton of them. I kept trying to figure out why Jamie sounds so familiar and it finally hit me. He sounds like a young Steve Spurrier 😂
Keep putting out more great content guys. This really is a a great channel
You guys are seriously masters of the craft. Your videos are absolutely top-notch: the crew's character shines; the shots are clear, crisp, and concise; and your choice of backing music is on point. Your guys' dynamic, knowledgeable instructions, and attention to detail prove your respect for the trades in an engaging, one-of-a-kind way.
Thank you for being stellar examples of what elite tradesmen should be. And thanks for dropping knowledge bombs in such a fun to watch way.
I literally cannot stop watching your videos, and you and your crew have motivated me to explore a lifelong dream of getting into the building trades. If I can attain even a portion of the quality, knowhow, and skill your crew have, I'll consider it a great success.
Keep doing what you're all doing - you're absolutely killing it. And thanks again!
Recommendations vary based on climate zone but yes you have the Kraft paper thing right. The idea is to have an air/water barrier on the outside of your building (in this case you do, the zip system). This keeps vapors from condensing inside the wall in a time like the warm summer when water vapor hits the cool wall from indoor air conditioning. Also, there’s humidity indoors. The same thing can happen from the inside out so you want that Kraft paper to keep vapor from entering the wall cavity and condensing somewhere inside causing mold/rot.
Looking good, guys!
Question: When you create the threshold for the French doors, is it sloped like a window frame opening?
Thanks for sharing your skills!
The flashing is flat, but the threshold above it is sloped
good job boys good video
My wife and I love your channel. You do really fun videos and you deserve lots of praise. There is one small complaint that we thought might be on the minds of tons of viewers and it is this. Many people (us included) get motion sick very easily. We understand how difficult and time consuming it must be to build the homes and also video the work but if you could please try to keep a more steady position for the camera it would be great. Shaky cam is not a good look and although you do a great job most of the time, hand held filming can be really hard for some of us to watch. Thanks for your fun videos!
Jaime's the best! 😅💡
Jamie pulling the sling blade impression… “it ain’t got no gas in it”
Believe in the power of engineering 💪
Just finished watch the nantahala retread, farm house and mountain house building. It's a great job what you doing guys. I learn alot from especially about wood working, that rarelly use anymore in where i came from because wood is 3x more expensive than concreat. Now i understand why american chose wood over concreat 😅
5:00 am🇵🇭 still enjoyed watching...❤️❤️❤️💚💚💚🤟
Hey guys! Thanks for a regular doze of building videos! I was wondering when do you upload videos from you own construction site? Or is it a different channel and I missed it? I saw pictures of that recently o Instagram. Would be cool to know. Thanks and keep up the high quality of videos!
Oh Yes!! PBB video for a Sunday afternoon enjoyment!! Keep Up The Good Work!
Thanks Miles!
Wider and taller on the rough openings is always better. Also carpet and tile might give you door scrubbing issues and force you to cut them. I always add an extra half inch to the height and on garden doors an extra inch or 2 wider. Easier to add another thickness of plywood or 2x4 in the opening than to have to cut out larger !
"Code switching" is the actual term for it when Jamie switches accents. Pretty common for people to do it.
Lol, I find myself doing it unintentionally, can you explain this phenomena in more detail. I have relatives from the south and when I get around them suddenly I develop a southern accent and I have lived in California for most of my life. 65 years
@@michaelsparks8632 I don't know too much about it but if you search on Google there is some good information on the topic.
I'm glad you all put the spelling for T-Astragal there because I thought not of you were doing southern speak. I was waiting for a "you can't say that."
Went to binge RR Buildings' Barndominium series to wait for this upload, and any time Kyle says "Material" I immediately say "Materl".. dangit, Jaime..
Also, I get a thicker accent when I visit my family in SE North Carolina so I feel Jaime on that one. 😂
Nice video 📹 👍
love your videos , how are the rest of the crew
I wish I could get into a family owned company that is willing I teach me the trade without being nasty or aggressive when I don’t know something. You guys are really phenomenal carpenters, I love watching you work. Keep up the great work!
I feel you i work for a guy right now who gets mad and aggressive when i dont know something and he knows i need to be tought he still gets ignorant
@@christophertuttle8781 Right?? I worked in concrete for a little while going into it knowing absolutely nothing and was told he had no problem teaching me the trade and he would freak out any time I didn’t know something. Like a mad man just screaming his head off
I got the rough opening sizes from my door shop before I framed up the walls.
nailed it.
"I don't know why it's French, it's just two doors." LOL
I know yall love those Dewalt staplers, but get yourself a battery powered stapler :) Your future self will thank your current self!
As an Engineer I really like their work and I want to this kind of sites.
Your the only place that I'd like working at👍
Tracer tape for those underground pipes. Cheaper than copper wire and if you put it a foot above your pipe it can be an advanced warning for somebody who didn't call digsafe.
Eric, repeat after me, zoom/track in, zoom/track out, pan left, pan right, tilt up, tilt down, these are the basics, repeat 100 times in the shower tonight and you will sound like a pro, thanks for all the good vids.
Thanks. I will work on that with him
Astragal-a convex molding or wooden strip across a surface or separating panels, typically semicircular in cross-section... That makes sense now!
Don't forget on finished siding you have to watch hammer marks. When your driving the nails home in the fascia, rarely does the hammer head face hit squarely, and that dent shows on shinny finished siding.
Merci!
Do you need Lexel between the subfloor and the flashing at the door as well?
It's true. The craft paper does Jack as a vapor barrier. My parents house used the same stuff and craft paper face insulation still needs a barrier.
