It says she's 'different', or 'lost in a world of make believe', but she's just insane, and the show would be better if it tackled that subject directly, because as it stands, it feels like our main character is quite delusional about his situation.
I have watched this anime before with my brother but, my brother stopped watching animes because he got a work now..and now...I only watch anime that is fighting.
