Consider this video was made before Messi won Copa América while winning the Golden Ball and Golden Boot of the tournament as well as being the top assister. Also consider the "winning" point seems sort of a mercy point for CR7 since Messi has actually won more team trophies than CR7. Consider this video (like it's explained in it) can't award points for unmeasurable things like that play where Messi driblles past 4 guys and sets up a big and easy scoring chance for his team while CR7 just doesn't do much for chance creation, he's more of a finisher. I don't know how anyone can watch this video and still think they're at the same level or that CR7 is better. We should respect, admire and enjoy both, but at the same time we should be able to acknowledge Messi being the GOAT and CR7 one of the best, just not the GOAT. It's just being fair. We have to keep in mind that football is at the end of the day a team sport that requires a lot of different positions and skillsets to come together in order to function and win titles. Therefore the greatest players are in my opinion those that contribute the most to the team "working" and elevating their teammates. In that regard I have never seen a more prolific finisher be such a teamplayer in the way messi is. His contribution to the offensive game of his teams is off the charts incredible.
Ronaldo simply is the better player. One big difference between the two that barely gets mentioned is that for much of his career Barcelona built their entire team around Messi. He was the one big center piece of their offense, which greatly helped Messi's stats, but whenever Messi was injured or an opponent managed to shut Messi down, Barcelona struggled heavily, because their entire system revolved around Messi. Without Messi the team often looked pretty dysfunctional, even though their roster was loaded with skill and talent, just like Real Madrid's. Real on the other hand did not allow themselves to become as dependent on one single player. Ronaldo was by far their best player, but they did not build their entire system around him, like Barca did with Messi.

you are right, I forbade myself from going in too much details into Maradona's statistics. I feel like he cannot be judged by stats. In Europe, Maradona's best goalscoring season is 23 goals. On the other hand, both Messi and Ronaldo have scored 50 goals or more 6 times. They also cumulate a couple of 40s and 30s. I wouldn't want to go in on Maradona's statistics as I feel it would be perceived as disrespectful. The same goes for Ronaldinho. As great as people portray him, in his best goalscoring season, he put up 26 goals. Statiscally, other than Pelé, nobody rivals Messi and Ronaldo. Not even the great Maradona.

For one, it’s very obvious that you haven’t watched Messi actually play in Ligue 1. He still dominates games and has 5-6 assists or something similar, plus hit the post 6 times. He’s still absolutely world class there. Nobody cared when Ronaldo didn’t score for his first 4 games in the Serie a. Since he played for Madrid his job has simply been to score goals. Score goals is all he needs to do for the team and it’s also all he needs to do to get credit. There was never a debate, this debate is just as made up as Jordan - Lebron, it gets views, that's it. Most people want to root for Ronaldo and Lebron, they are supreme, Lebron is a gigantic tian, tall and jacked to no end, Ronaldo is tall, handsome, charismatic and ripped. *2.* Maradona played in a much more competitive league, and not for the best team. Napoli was battling relegation before he came along and made them champions. To put things into perspective, it's like Messi playing for Elche and beating the likes of Barca, Real and Athletico for the title.
*3.* Messi's teammates at Barcelona have always been a million times better than Maradona's at Napoli. We now live in the era of superteams, a privileged few top teams that buy up the best talent out there.
*4.* In the second half of the 80s Serie A, a win was only worth 2 points. That clearly diminished the incentive for a team to go for a win.
*5.* Football was way more defensive back then, it was harder to score.

Firstly, has football gotten less physical? Statistics on broken legs aren't that common. 😂 But, surprisingly, we are in the peak of football injuries. Only today, more penalties are being called.
Secondly, looking at the differences in goalscoring. I maintain the fact that players score 15% more goals. It's just that Messi and Ronaldo (and possibly Suarez) created a distortion. We cannot take goalscorers like these guys for granted. They don't come in every decade. Besides, if we look beyond them, we end up with names like Falcao, Aspas, Negredo, Moreno, etc. Thereby, the 15% increase ends up making sense.
Thirdly, it's true that we live in the superteam era, but with all due respect to Xavi and Iniesta, they have respectively assisted 5 and 9 of Messi's 91 goals season. The only thing that irritates me about your comment, which is also specifically why I've made that video is the emotional takes (in Messi just like Ronaldo's part). Football is the only sport where people argue with lines like « he could handle pressure better », « he was tougher mentally » or « he was more determined ». Why is it like that? Consider this video was made before Messi won Copa América while winning the Golden Ball and Golden Boot of the tournament as well as being the top assister. Also consider the "winning" point seems sort of a mercy point for CR7 since Messi has actually won more team trophies than CR7. Consider this video (like it's explained in it) can't award points for unmeasurable things like that play where Messi driblles past 4 guys and sets up a big and easy scoring chance for his team while CR7 just doesn't do much for chance creation, he's more of a finisher.
I don't know how anyone can watch this video and still think they're at the same level or that CR7 is better. We should respect, admire and enjoy both, but at the same time we should be able to acknowledge Messi being the GOAT and CR7 one of the best, just not the GOAT. It's just being fair. Even when you see the answers from the pros themselves it's overwhelmingly Messi. Who would know better than the people who actually play and coach the game at the highest level for a living? Not the fans, that's for sure.

We have to keep in mind that football is at the end of the day a team sport that requires a lot of different positions and skillsets to come together in order to function and win titles. Therefore the greatest players are in my opinion those that contribute the most to the team "working" and elevating their teammates. In that regard I have never seen a more prolific finisher be such a teamplayer in the way messi is. His contribution to the offensive game of his teams is off the charts incredible.
Ronaldo simply is the better player.
One big difference between the two that barely gets mentioned is that for much of his career Barcelona built their entire team around Messi. He was the one big center piece of their offense, which greatly helped Messi's stats, but whenever Messi was injured or an opponent managed to shut Messi down, Barcelona struggled heavily, because their entire system revolved around Messi. Without Messi the team often looked pretty dysfunctional, even though their roster was loaded with skill and talent, just like Real Madrid's.
Real on the other hand did not allow themselves to become as dependent on one single player. Ronaldo was by far their best player, but they did not build their entire system around him, like Barca did with Messi.

On the other hand, both Messi and Ronaldo have scored 50 goals or more 6 times. They also cumulate a couple of 40s and 30s.

For one, it’s very obvious that you haven’t watched Messi actually play in Ligue 1. He still dominates games and has 5-6 assists or something similar, plus hit the post 6 times. He’s still absolutely world class there. Nobody cared when Ronaldo didn’t score for his first 4 games in the Serie a. Since he played for Madrid his job has simply been to score goals. Score goals is all he needs to do for the team and it’s also all he needs to do to get credit. Where do you have your free kick stats from? My usual sources say 58 Messi vs 56 Ronaldo. That's obviously because of the 2 free kicks Messi scored at the Copa America since you uploaded this, but I don't get why they each have 1 goal more here
You also have 83% vs 86% in penatly conversion, but over their whole career I'm pretty sure that should be 77.5% vs 83.3% (83% vs 75% in shootouts)

Ronaldinho is my favourite player ever but his peak was nowhere near as great as messi or ronaldo's. The statistics that messi has in almost all aspects of offensive football skill is incomparable. We have never seen a player as efficient as he is and that's just facts. He doesn't have to be your idol or your favourite player but his greatness is undeniable.

There was never a debate, this debate is just as made up as Jordan - Lebron, it gets views, that's it. Most people want to root for Ronaldo and Lebron, they are supreme, Lebron is a gigantic tian, tall and jacked to no end, Ronaldo is tall, handsome, charismatic and ripped. People naturally tend to gravitate towards them just because of their physical attributes, but in terms of the two sports, it was not even close I'm sorry. Messi and Jordan are just so much better.
Also, a point you should have discussed in "winning" continuing the basketball analogy, the hardest thing to win is a 3 peat, because everyone can win a single title in an off year (2020 for example) or even maybe 2, but to win 3 consecutively, battling mental fatigue + the physical fatigue of playing so many more games than everyone else while shortening your rest period is insane. That is something that can never be luck and this is and has always been the most prestigious price because it shows that for this time frame you truly dominated. The same thing here for football is the treble, if in a single year you won everything that hands down one of the best teams ever. A great team is always going to win at least one trophy, only a godlike one can do a treble and there have been just a few that did it. Messi did it twice. That is probably the only major point missed in this video
