James Baldwin won a race seat with button's race team as the "fastest Sim Driver". He won a race in the series ,lapped gentlemen drivers and finished 3rd in the series . Got voted the BRDC "Young Driver of the Year ." As he has no big money sponsors he has since only had the occasional WEC car outings . All his talent ,success in real world cars exposure with Jenson Button got him nowhere. To add insult to injury he still wins sim racing series and his obvious talent is undiminished . So my question is isn't it sexist to give a not merit based leg up to any grouping ? Unless you think this whole series is a big green tick ,by the F1 PR team?
i find it shocking that they almost find it an obligation to have a woman in F1. I wouldnt mind like abbi pullin etc to get to F1 but they seem to forget that F1 is about being the fastest with deeper pockets. And making a series for woman seems (like W series) just a bad idea, you're alienating them from racing with boys - Your main competitor. Idk not a big fan of this idea
I heard them describe it as a way to gain open wheel experience as a stepping stone to F1. But you're right, it does seem kind of shitty and alienating. There is no inherent reason that a woman driver couldn't dominate F1, other than it hasn't happened yet. I just read that Lia Block signed on to drive for Williams next year. If anyone could do it, it's that kid. Got the deep pockets, got go-fast in spades.
The issue is that every woman that has tested for F1 has been nearly a second or over off the pace of the slowest man. They need their own Formula because they can't compete in F2 where talent actually matters.
Women are not designed to handle the current G forces of Modern F1, just like men are not designed to give birth. In modern f1 with how fast the cars are I can’t see a woman competing unfortunately
@shaunrobinson4614… those pilots have G suits to assist. F1 drivers do not. F1 drivers are pushing all out for 90 mins. Pilots do not. It’s not about being sexist, F1 is physically very demanding. Look at how the last 2 women in F1 fared.
What the FIA has achieved here is that when a woman now reaches a high level in racing people like me will think: She was probably privileged because she's a woman. Passing dozens or maybe even hundreds of boys that were actually better. Well done 👍
There's not enough spaces for men already at the top levels of motorsport. Now there will be even less. It's all well and good pushing women into traditionally male roles. But what are the men they replace going to do. Will the women face the same standards. Or will it be like the armed forces where standards are lowered to allow women in.
Is that not literal *segregation* ? My iPhone defines it as: ‘The action or state of settling someone or something apart from others’, and ‘separation’. What ever happened to hard work and earning things on merit?
Because we can't compete with men and cause few of us have interest in this sport they had to make a "diverse" but "segregated" program otherwise we wouldn't have any chance... 😂😂😂😂😂 It's hilarious
@@JZTechEngineering This is garbage! If you can’t do it on merit and hard work then you don’t deserve to be there! No F1 team will give a girl a seat unless it’s for publicity! This a waste of time and money and will end up as horrible as the WNBA.
They did that because many drivers complained about the f2 cars. Apparently much more difficult to steer than f1 cars and they didn’t accommodate for tall or short drivers or those with different hand sizes who’d need other steering wheels. That just happens to include women aswell. I know Yuki has said he struggled

Megan Gilkes now works as an enginneer at Aston Martin f1 . Respect !! Why are there hardly any women in technical fields ?
They Only hire the best.. otherwise they won't win.. easy duh! and men are stronger anyway!
jamie chadwick would destroy this series if she competed again
In that series yes, but she got demolished in F3 by men, and they are thinking about getting to F1, funny
Great video, F1 Academy is doing just amazing job getting women in man dominated sports keep up with great work ❤❤😊
So brilliant to see F1 Academy #InspireInclusion for women in the world of F1 👏Thank you F1 Academy for creating 'herstory' 💜
"A realization from WITHIN the sport that it needs to be more diverse." No sir, that is a lie. There is no realization, just external pressure.
No, girl..
You gotta race with the boys
I can’t see why we don’t have a Woman, Man driving team in all F1 teams now and make a real all F1 teams have to run A women driver and a male driver.
Motor sport is non-segregated. How then does an "F1 Academy" for women only help them to be more competitive going forward?
What's next, ALL girl Pit crew, team boss' and staff.. perhaps.. haha F1 Academy is a joke!
Finally we can have men and women competing together as machine erases physical difference.
You're delusional thinking physical difference is erased 😅 absolutely delusional.
That's completely inaccurate
Last I checked men and women are 100% physically the same except for reproductive organs.
@binaysenapati I can't tell if your trolling or not.

all girls are mine

Its a good initiative though the question of sustainability will always be there.
it will be sustained from F1 and its teams pockets
Issue is still the physical difference between men and women. Driving a formula one car is not easy

Just be what you girl do best at F1 - GRID GIRLS Only!!! Perhaps make me a coffee in that outfit too.. hubba hubba..
this is one category women can thrive at, it will take time
W series
Only u
Claiming discrimination to get a free leg up. Well done ladies.
It ain't a leg up
@@JZTechEngineering It ain't? how so?
And they get F4 spec cars (facepalm)
Lia Block's rise this yr is so a chip of the old BLOCK? no put intended she will podium in2024
What a ridiculous waste of resources. What's the point? If they can't compete with the men they'll never even be in F3 let alone F1...
Just create F1W for all the 3 fans that will watch it
That's what I am saying mate. If they ever bring women in,I will be out & stop watching forever ♾️😂

Women literally go to space you imbecile
Rubbish, just look at how many female fighter pilots there are

if you need cant race the men, you will never make it to f1

meritocracy is a myth. There are far to many factors at play in life for anyone to earn anything purely on merit.
Yes, but is it bad? No. Getting more women in sport will produce good female drivers given enough time

Nope, not interested.
Dad ... But is Dad related to the Protected Characteristics?
Thats why they made f2 cars more easy for next season so that women who are same as men can drive f2 cars .😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.........
