Baseball Simulator 1000 is one of my favorite sports titles of all time. Awesome magic abilities make it the ultimate two player game. You can fly in the outfield to catch a homerun ball, You can strike out someone with a 130 mile per hour fastball. A ball becomes a bomb and blows up when your opponent is trying to catch it. You can cause an earthquake when you hit the ball in the infield. You can hit a ball so hard that the shortstop ends up being pushed onto the outfield wall and he ends up dropping the ball. You can turn your batter into a tornado. Your baserunner can run around the bases in a few seconds with flash like speed.
Super Dodgeball was awesome, but forgotten by many. One of my all time favorites along with Pro Wrestling. The best baseball game for nes was Baseball Stars! It’s still one of the greatest games even regarding modern games! I know every note in the music! First games to ever be able to create your own players, teams, and league/tournament. Earn money to build players by winning games. Beating the Lovely Ladies gave you the most loot! Also, I was the first in my neighborhood to beat Mike Tyson. Tecmo Bowl glitch. Only works with the Vikings. When you have the ball on your own one yard line run a screen pass and your receiver will catch the ball two yards deep in your own end zone and it gives you a touchdown. I know it was Super Tecmo Bowl listed here, but I just had to share that info. Great List!

WOW!! I was just getting ready to recommend Dusty Diamond to you when...lo and behold, it was #2 on your list!! I LOVE it! That game is so underrated and I completely agree with you that it is the best baseball/softball game on the NES. It's such a hidden gem and I'm so glad that I lucked out and stumbled across it for $1 at a yard sale many, many moons ago. :)
blades of steel was awesome, the fighting system was so unique than, ice hockey was dope too, i played more tecmo bowl than tecmo super bowl but that was bc of availability, honestly couldnt tell u which game i liked better lol, i always dug track and field II even though u really had to have a turbo controller for that game to be any good

Interesting thing with Captain Tsubasa is that exactly the same gameplay was used for Blitzball in Final Fantasy X. Rather than Super Dodgeball I think there should be other sports games from Kunio-kun series like soccer, hockey, basketball or Crash 'n the Boys: Street Challenge. All of them are better than Dodgeball. There are also Olympic games by Capcom and Konami, both are great and one of the best games on NES.

Bad News Baseball was the best playing baseball game and even came with close-ups for the close plays. I got so good a Bad News Baseball and Blades of Steel I learned how to beat the games using a NES Advantage and playing with my feet.

Great list overall. One of mine that I was hoping would show up is Cyberstadium Series Presents Base Wars. Definitely a bit goofy, but it had a fun soundtrack, great action and the ability to keep updating your players kept the action pretty fresh for me.
I loved playing 'Ice Hockey' when I was a kid...I also loved playing 'Little League Baseball'..the controls for it seemed to be pretty smooth and it was always a lot of fun..
Worst games, MLB and NFL, by LJN, enough said. Some games that would have made my top 10 would have been Tecmo NBA( over DD) and Baseball Simulator 1000 (over dusty diamond) and other honorable mentions are Jordan vs Bird, Ultimate Basketball(Sammy), Track and Field 2, Nintendo World Cup Soccer(made by the RCR people), Ring King, and I'd guess I'd give a nod to Arch Rivals
2 games that I definitely have in my top 10 sports games that were not mentioned here are Excitebike and Super Spike v'ball. I liked seeing Blades of Steel, Pro Wrestling, Baseball Stars, Double Dribble, and Tecmo Super Bowl as a representation of the tecmo Bowl series. Mike Tyson's Punch-out is another classic. Honourable mentions would have included RC Proam, Bad News Baseball, Arch Rivals, Rad Racer, Super Sprint, Jordan vs. Bird, Bowling, etc. My favorite football game in the arcade was 10-Yard Fight. I wish that Nintendo had made their version just like the arcade game play where you had to score a touchdown to beat every level before the time ran out. That would have made my Nintendo list if they had done that.

You might be aware of it but Super Blood Hockey is a great Ice Hockey throw back Awesome and you can remove all the blood but it is ICE HOCKY with stats , carre mode, stats diet change can make them become bigger or smaller etc Sprite flicker have been fixed for the thre Kunio game now on the ps4 (Crash and the boys,Dodge ball and River City Ransom)

Surprised nobody's mentioned any of the Nekketsu Kunio Kun sports games, the basketball and ice hockey games were phenomenal but were not released outside Japan. A few games such as the soccer one was released (although rebranded as "Nintendo World Cup").
Speaking of Punchout...i'd love to see you do a Play It Through of both Tyson's Punchout and Super Punchout. That would be awesome at some point. Wouldn't fault you for not wanting to play Power Punch 2 (the NES sequel) though. Unless you'd already done both the others (and the original arcade version) and wanted to just do it for completion sake lol.
I have always wanted to do play it throughs for both and plan to for sure I am weird when it comes to games that I truly love and never feel like I can do them justice if that makes any sense. StarTropics 1 and 2 took me forever to do because I was afraid of that reason but think they did turn out ok in the end.
I have quite a grip against sports games on the NES, especially that a lot of their sound drivers are a pain in the fucking ass to rip. So for that, my favourite is probably Soccer or a few games of the Quattro Sports cart.

ngreatshark MLB was nearly the exact same game as RBI Baseball, but was around a few years earlier.
MLB isn't that bad, there are way worse Baseball games on the NES. NFL is complete garbage however.

RBI Baseball is one of the best sports games of all time. Still a blast to play to this day.
